In early 83 is when they gave the show a whole new makeover with O'Bryans funked up version of the Soul Train theme "Soul Trains A Comin" the dark neon lighted 80s club like backdrop. The setting was so 80s cool and funky along with the new 80s fashions.
I never missed Soul Train. I Loved watching the different dance styles and the different fashions that dance across the screen. Those were the real days.
Me too,I grew up watching Soul Train as a little girl in the 1970s. The best Dancing and Elegant dressing years for Soul Train were during the 1970s and earlier 1980s.
Lanz22 This my Mom's shit right here, I was born in 83' and my Mom and her friends would be bumping this shit all night, fun times back then in the 805 Southern California.
1:26 my favorite dancer. I called him the Lion Man. I looked forward to Saturdays to watch Soul Train and learn moves. One day I had the privilege to dance in London's Soul Train
At 1:25...I LOVED THIS SMOOOOTH MOVEMENT! I JUST CAN'T STOP REPEATING!!!! THE STEPS OF HIM! ARE COMPLETELY IN SYNC WITH THE RHYTHM! SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUUUL TRAIN!
Here in Los Angeles we called that dance "The E.T." People from other states called it "The Smurf". Yeah..LOL..That's me @ 1:27..LOL 😆 years before "Jerome"..LOL
Thank you Marco..CL Smooth right there! I saw a tutorial of a younger person showing how to "Smurf"...they were not smurf'n!.. We gotta come correct with the history!
I had the biggest crush on the first sista in the line. I watched her every Saturday for years, I wasn't old enough to ask her out though. lol Brings back so many memories.
*I ABSOLUTELY LOVEEEE YOUR PAGE AND UPLOADS. THIS ONE IS ONE MY ALL TIME FAVS ESPECIALLY THE 1ST LADY AND I'VE BEEN WATCHING IT HERE FOR YEARSS. PLEASEEEEEEEEE NEVER DELETE YOUR RU-vid PAGE/UPLOADS . YOU'VE GOT BEAUTY AND GOOD TIMES HERE THAT THIS WORLD WILL NEVERRRR SEE AGAIN*
Well most professionals are fit so yeah, they're going to look good. There's a few amateurs as well but they're bot going to have any ugly people on the show.
wow is that how Rick James was going on... this tune is heavy, represented it today with a simple electro I beat its a winner. from Leon Anthony Walker from London UK!
Y'all ain't shit for calling Marco De Santiago "Jerome" from *_Martin_*. Don Cornelius and Tommy did *not* die for this! He *_KILLED_* that Smurf, tho. lol
I saw a G. I've seen it all. Dope describes my rhymes, making all you emcees cold drop like dimes. You know MCSC is back again, and battling me on the microphone is like committing a sin. Scott the Illinois Seer MCSC the Chicago Seer
The other thing I think we are reacting to is the fact that this guy is one of the only ones really "dancing"...I hated this time period on the show when the dancers were more interested in acrobatics and street dancing, rather than cool, regional, dance steps that we could actually mimic and take to the party ourselves.
…this was Rick James last big hit before he was replaced by some dude named Prince Rodgers Nelson. BTW,this song was about his then girlfriend,Linda Blair(the girl from the Exorcist)…
