Happy Saturday to you Mr. Jamel! The gentleman is the green tie was the Mr. Tyrone Bone Protector. Please Consider the Kool and the Gang's live performance of Jungle Boogie. You have to witness Mr. Donald Boyce performance 😎
I remember outfits like that being stuff my parents' generation would wear to go out when I was a little kid. The disco era was really colourful. I always had all that polyester to dredge up when they dared comment on my teenage 80s metal denim or proto-goth outfits.
I grew up in the 60s 70s and early 80s and the 70s music was fantastic but I hated those ugly clothes. Fine and I mean fine Black women in unattractive clothes. Oh well.
Bugs Bunny and Friends on WNEW-TV (before the call letter change when it becameWNYW FOX 5 New York), American Bandstand at noon on WABC-TV(now known as ABC 7)and Soul Train at 1pm on WNEW-TV 5.Great day for TV, weekend wise.
That line dance was what my wedding looked like back in 79. The DJ was having such a good time that he added two hours for free. We made sure he and his helpers ate and drank as much as we did.
Alright....me and most of my friends (many of us white) loved Soul Train back in the day. We just didn't obsess about color differences back then, it seemed. Most of us watched Soul Train, Good Times, The Jeffersons, etc, just like we watched American Bandstand, Happy Days, or Midnight Special. Great times.....I think we had more fun back then.
American bandstand tried very hard to buy out soul train but Don Cornelius wasn't having it. He knew if he did, he would be pushed out and the dancers would be replaced to fit a more mainstream audience.
@@newstarcadefan That's Don Kirshner's Rock concerts and I watch that and Soul Train not just for the awesome bands and artists but for the dudes that had the Gorilla Mask and the Tin Man mask and for Don Cornelius himself. . . . . . .
This Soul Train Saturdays was an amazing idea. Please keep these ideas coming!! Great reaction for everyone watching! I was laughing my ass off with you!
When I was a kid (around the time of this Soul Train), most black boys had a pick in the back of their hair at school and most white boys had a comb in their back pocket. Keeping your hair 'neat' was such a thing then.
The standard issue black dude's afro pick was the black one with the peace symbol cutout and the fist on the handle. The standard issue white boy comb was the plastic one with the long handle, made out of swirly plastic that looked like a Lifesaver lollipop. I don't remember if black dudes had a fragrance they all wore, but all the white boys were wearing either Hai Karate or Jovan Musk For Men.
I used to dance to just not this song but also “I’m Just a Love Machine,” and really old school The Average White Band’s “Pick Up the Pieces” and “Cut the Cake.” Just think the majority of these people are now parents and grandparents!
Tsunami 1112, my father was one of The Miracles that wrote and performed "Love Machine". I appreciate you enjoyed his song. He was a wonderful man that brought magic into me and my sister's life, growing up in that era was phenomenal!!!!.... This channel is awesome!!!...Infinite Love and Gratitude.
I can only speak for myself, but I LOVE the new screen! Just one more way you're the best reaction channel going! I look forward to your videos every day. The great music, seeing your facial expressions as you hear music I've loved for decades. It's like I'm heating it for the first time all over again. Love you man, LOVE YOU! ♥️
Because there was something wrong with us back then. The 70s were weird. Check out some of the American Bandstand clips. We were all high and happy. And then in the 80s we all went to rehab.. LOL
Oh the days when everyone pretty much got along and music was something that brought us together. People can't be divided when they're feeling the groove and dancing!
I'm in Soul Train heaven!! The music, the boogying and the clothes I used to wear back in the 70's Love looking back at this and watching your hilarious reaction Jamel. Keep it coming brother 😊
Love the new format ❤ I had some platform shoes (not quite that high), platform sandals that were worn with rainbow striped toe socks, and I had many of these outfits (swirl skirt, cuffed plaid bell bottoms). Hey, it was 1974 😊 and I looked forward to Soul Train every week.
YES! Keep this format on Saturdays....gives me that "Throwbackness " vibe from when I was a kid in late 70's and couldn't wait to turn on the tube and watch American Bandstand and SoulTrain with my Mother and baby sister...best time of my life. Thank you Jamel😘
I am a 52 year old white man that spent many Saturdays watch Don Cornelius and The SOOOOUUUULLLLLLL Train! It's now wonder I went in to radio and DJ'd for years before moving on to television. This never leaves you by the way!!! RIP Don C!
I loved watching the soul train as a teenager. During the summer, I put music on in the my backyard and show my grandkids how to dance in a soul train line.
Jamel, you still wearing the Billy Preston wig, cool man, Happy Birthday, Soul Train was the Greatest show on TV man, I never missed it, Ya the clothes they wore back then was Super Soul Brother, R.I.P. to Mr. Don the MC, I think the Band KISS stole the big shoes from watching Soul Train, I think the The Soul Train with James Brown is Killler Bro, Peace Man, Cousin Figel
This is fun and brings back good memories of watching Soul Train on Saturday mornings with my mom. Hard to believe most of these people are in their 70's. Time sure flies by fast!
Dude..there were plenty of fat people back in the 70's (me included). But we weren't the ones chosen to be on any TV show. Look up Rerun (Fred Berry) one of the baddest dancers of the era.
I think we're ready for the FUNKIEST song I've ever had the privilege of hearing..Holy Ghost - Barkays....make a dead man walk ! make sure ya get the 8min version..
@@karaminalee ya really can't go wrong with 70s to early 80s funk and soul.I've been listening to Mandrill's stuff lately.amazing sound they have ..it's like Santana and Kool and the gang.be safe out there......
I remember getting up early on Saturday morning to get the chores out of the way before Soul Train came on. We would study all the dances and go outside and practice with our friends, 💃🏽🕺🏾💃🏽🕺🏾.
Platform shoes were the rage. It makes my spine twitch to remember them. Orthopaedic doctors loved them. Get down...get down Love the format Jam-man. Keep them coming!😎
Im dyin laughing. I thought he kicked her too. Was admiring her beautiful yellow outfit and seen that leg go up there. Oh dear lord my chest hurts from laughing
Really you hope you find the Soul Train performance of 'Oh-o-Child' by the Five Stairsteps . Great tune - was the first single I ever bought - I was six I had no idea til I saw the performance that the opening was sung by a girl - lol The message in this song has never gone away
Saturdays are usually my hardest day of work, but oh, you help me get through it because I look forward to coming home and watching your videos. Thanks for the great music and the laughter!
Wonder if PawPaw still has those boots in the back of the closet for Saturday nights with Grams...🤔 Love the background for your S.T. intro. Totally on point.
Thank you for posting Soul Train dancers. Loved this show and American Bandstand. So much fun! Dancing and smiling. The bell bottoms and platform shoes! At age 65, this brings back wonderful memories of happier times. You brightened up my day! Love your channel! ❤️
