So for a skeleton unit with dance macabre : 10 are slain during the combat phase, you roll 10 dice when they activate, 5 return as a result. How many dice do you roll for the 2nd activation, 10 or 5? I heard you said 5, but i use to roll 10 because i am still considering that 10 have been slain during that phase. What is the consensus on that?

You are correct. I took it at face value, but after looking at bit more, the consensus is you roll 10 Dice each time. You can only go back to starting size, but you get to roll all the dice each time.

@@MaximeGolagha This interpretation of the rules unfortunately is not correct. You are not rolling for ALL the models slain during that phase, you are rolling for EACH model slain specifically. Tecnically you would roll them 1 by one, as the last line of the ability specifies "you can return THAT model" but it usually happens all together due to fast rolling. but for example if a unit leader or bannerman should die you would have to roll that single model specifically.

The nerf to losing the 2” on spears and losing the extra attacks at 20 models really hurts

So I’m coming from 40K with mostly SM and CSM armies. Im used to running 5 man squads all the time. I’m planning to start these guys as a legion of blood horde army with some vampire lords, maybe a necromancer and some fast attack units. Thanks for the vid!

Totally agreed on your analysis of these two. Skeletons and Grave Guard, classic anvil and hammer. Funny to imagine the Sepulchral Guard as mage assassins, but rolling the dice is a pain. Black Knights would do the trick better, and with more points, then Vargskyr, and Vargheists past that. Also: You actually pronounced Sepulchral correct the first time! Vyrkos is also correct. Examples: tyre, pyre, lyre. Sounds weird, but that's how it is. Except instead of expect a couple times on the slides.

Great video! Unfortunately skeletons and their ability is so niche it's basically useless. They are only useful as min cost 10 man chaff squads to be speed bumps or tag obj's out of the grave.

@18:36 You're correct, there may be some outliers (older battletomes or faction specific rules for sub-factions, that i don't own), but most battletomes have the rules for sub-factions on their Battle Traits page. The Cursed Bloodlines rule requires you to pick a sub-faction for your army, once you do, everyone in the list gains that keyword, the only exception is if a sub-factions keyword already appears on their warscroll. You may still take them in your army, but they don't receive the sub-faction's benefits.

Non skeleton question here. New to soulblight and trying g to make a 2k list. How many Heros should I be running? I've seen list where half the points are characters. So like 3 or 4?

that is up to you and build you like. there is sooo many good Heroes and sooo many cheap other units. it is easy to run a list with 50% points in heros. I think it all comes down to what you are trying to do and your list. I think a good rule could possibly be 1/3 of your points in leaders, but that is not a hard and fast rule. I like at least one cheap support, and one heavy hitter.

these are so nice to watch since they help so much with list building, i made so many "for fun" lists that i will probably never get because i dont have the money to buy all of the stuff but still fun and useful for your 1-2 actual lists. what are your plans after you're done with the warscrolls?

Not sure what to do when done. I think I will get all the info and put it on one webpage for people to look over. I will continue the tournament battle reports. I may try and do another book at some point.

I don't think Sepulchral Guard can take Allegiance Abilities Enhancements as they have the Unique note in their Pitched Battle Profile. I really like them but wish they were more usable, or had their own niche. The Warden being so weak compared to, say, Watch Captain Halgrim, is disappointing, but I guess the SG were meant mainly for Underworlds. It's still disappointing how weak they are, though. :(
