*"It resembles many others, yet is like nothing else. A magnificent palace of water that seems to contain every form of architecture known to Europe. No one knows who made it, or where it is located. However, it is said that only those with a strong will and a willingness to bet their own lives can reach it. The great volume of water that flows through it is always circulating and pure, and it is said that it cleanses those who come here to pray. Siegfried seeks a showdown with Soul Edge and atonement for his own sins. Pursuing him, Nightmare, too, reaches this place. Will this holy palace of water be the end of both their journeys?"*
Siegfried: "If you're after the sword... don't expect to get past here alive. Sorry to keep you... you're up next!" Nightmare: "HA HA HA HA HA HA HA! The time is ripe... You shall become part of me. You are my first sacrifice!"
"I'm impressed that you made it this far. Not bad at all. My dream is about to be realized. You, however are not worthy of witnessing this glorious moment. Leave this place at once!"
There's something so familiar yet unrecognizable about this place. The stage description, aesthetic, and music lend themselves to that. It's like this is the place where memories go when they are forgotten.
The fact that this is where the climactic & final battles take place, not to mention where Siegfried & Nightmare ( the very representations of Light VS Dark in the SC franchise) take place just completes it. It's apropos. It's necessary. It's beautiful.
@@DarkS1ayer100 It's as much about Siegfried's redemption story as it is about Zasalamel trying to end his life. But to be completely honest It's the duality between chaos and order for many characters. Most are in pairs maxi/astaroth mitsurugi/taki sophitia/cassandra. It's climatic to everyone's story
@@DarkS1ayer100 everyones story has something to do with Soul edge, Soul calibur or both. It's just unfortunate that Seigfried/Nightmare's story overshadows everyone elses. Kilik has a redemption/atonement arc that pre-dates soul calibur 2. But alot of the character arcs are intertangled. You have the trio of kilik, xiangua and maxi where you have maxi and. asataroth's revenge storyline, with Klilk trying to stop him from going down that path. From a story perspective by the time Soul calibur 3 rolls around many of the main characters know that Soul Edge is bad news, as opposed to soul calibur 2 where most characters are seeking it as the sword of salvation". Even still there is plenty of misinformation about the swords at this point. The characters motivations range from altruistic to selfish, you have people lusting for power, people seeking redemption and/or atonement, others trying to prevent this cycle from repeating. There's alot of moving parts to the story, there just way too much build-up for Seigfried and Nightmare's eventual clash at the end.
Nightmare should have his own Stage located somewhere & Song called like If There Were Any Other Way so let Siegfried Schtauffen keep this only instead of sharing
As cliché as it is, this is probably ny favorite stage in the whole series. Just by looking at still images I can hear the constantly flowing water. I also think that it's kinda interesting how the whole stage is not only the last time the series got a church/cathedral, but also that water is such a prominent part of it. Like, aside from the obvious holy water connection, I also remember that Siegfried's stage in SCI was Venice, aka "The City of Water".
Im getting major lag on my emulator on this level...curious...if i go buy a ps2....does this level still have frame drop on console? such a magical level...ruined by frame drop.
Runs great off disc on PS2. I got the game, resurfaced, in great condition, for $5 on eBay a couple weeks ago. Haven’t tried running it in OPL yet though.
