Welcome to Part 2 of our Souljourns series with Leela Champ.
Leela. a follower of Sai Baba of India for many years, is passionate about listening to the inner voice. Call it the voice of Sai Baba, intuition or an inner calling, it does not matter. Whenever Leela feels it, she responds. Her practice has taught her much about the concept of Seva, selfless service to others.
In part two of her Souljourns interviews, Leela talks about how it came to pass in the 1990s when she and her husband, Deni were living in Port Harcourt, Nigeria that she felt the call. It was a powerful urge for her to lend a hand to the Sai Devotes of Port Harcourt who did not have a permanent place to meet to pay homage to their teacher, Sai Baba.
Without funds and without resources, Leela felt the need to be true to her calling. Even though she was inexperienced in such matters, she felt that Sai Baba was directing her to help others find a permanent Sai Center. How she succeeded in her project is of great interest. In fact, it is her primary reason for sharing this story, so that others, without funds, resources or the necessary experience required can take on important service work, and succeed.
Likewise, years later in Lusaka, Zambia in 2006, Leela felt the calling to take on yet another project for which she was not prepared, the building of a school for orphans and vulnerable children. This was the subject of Part 1 of our Souljourns series from a year earlier.
In short, when a seva project calls out to you, accept it and Sai Baba's loving guidance will see you through your doubts and inexperience. Would you like to contact Leela to ask for more advice about taking on Seva projects, or to learn how you might be support her own projects? Just write me, Ted at newsguy55@aol.com.
