I came to this film in an almost turbulent state of mind. Within a few minutes, I began to feel a little calmer. Shortly after, I felt peace. A film lifting a person from a negative to a positive state of mind can only be termed a success. Akanksha, the very experience of watching your film has been peaceful. And I have yet to complete watching it. I would call your tribute to your parents a prayer. God bless.

One of the best documentaries I have ever seen.....sai ram..may all find true purpose..

Having been born, studied, traveled and experienced a lot in India for the last 23 years during this lifetime , I have only one phrase to describe 'life' in my country : " Meaningful Chaos ". I have seen more " wise " people on the streets of my country than in the corridors of prestigious universities. This video is probably the only one of it's kind because it brings out the very essence of the vedic wisdom without getting entangled in the details. I really cannot believe that someone has actually pulled it off so beautifully. Hats off to the team. Hope life will take you to greater heights. " YATHO VAACHO NIVARTHANTHE APRAAPYA MANASA SAHA ".

Hinduism is not a religion its spirituality, its a thought, its a way of life, its more than what we can think! Swami Satyananda is right, India is not just a nation, it's mother. If you want to experience that love come to India. I have visited over 40 countries, never got that peace and satisfaction what i feel in lap of mother India. Thank you India. I remember as small kid we used to sleep on roof surrounded by the plants. Our elders never allowed us to touch the plants. their explanation was "They are sleeping". So much respect for our rivers, plants, mountains; in short for the nature, which is essence of our living.

If your happiness depends on others or the material world, then its not happiness, its attachment / co- dependency. This is a beautiful film -- in less than 50 minutes you have beautifully described Sanatan Dharma (BTW as Swami Satyananda explains in the film, I try to avoid using the word 'Hinduism') . . . Commentary, interviews, video shots, landscapes, the chants, the music -- everything is perfect . . . in particular, about 6 minutes commentary at the end accompanied by Raag 'Bhairavi' in the background is deeply touching. Sanatan Dharma or the Vedic Dharma is grossly misunderstood, even by its so-called followers, not to mention by foreigners. In Sri Aurobindo's words: "The highest spirituality indeed moves in a free and wide air far above the LOWER STAGES OF SEEKING, which is governed by religious FORM AND DOGMA. . .But man does not arrive immediately at that highest [spiritual] inner elevation and, if it were demanded from him at once, he would never arrive there. At first he needs lower supports and stages of ascent; he asks for scaffolding of DOGMA, WORSHIP, IMAGE, SIGN, FORM, SYMBOL, SOME INDULGENCE and permission of mixed half-natural motive on which he can stand while he builds up in him the temple of spirit. Only when the temple is completed CAN THE SUPPORT BE REMOVED, THE SCAFFOLDING DISAPPEAR. . . It is only if we have a just and right appreciation of THIS SENSE AND SPIRIT OF INDIAN RELIGION that we can come to an understanding of the TRUE SENSE AND SPIRIT of Indian culture." ("The Foundation of Indian Culture", p. 122) The film will allow not only foreigners but many Indians too of all faiths understanding the true import of this age old philosophy, religion, spirituality, Dharma, or the 'Way of Life'. Watched it. Loved it. It has been made with a lot of love and affection. Most of the protagonists are people from outside India who have been influenced and have chosen to adopt the Hindu way and live in India. They have come under the influence and learnt the ways from scratch. They have thus tasted the nectar, and have decided that this is the aim of their existence. The film maker has had the Hindu tradition handed down to her through family rituals and elders’ stories. Now she has embarked upon a journey to delve into the truths behind the tales. What better analysts than those who have chosen to renounce their previous ways of life and adopt the Hindu way. Their approach is objective, and they go straight for the jugular, without getting bogged down in anything whose essence they do not understand. Yes, it is a soul-led approach to a way of life, not a set of rules and customs. It is an experience that lightens and uplifts. It is a child’s tribute to her Baba and Amma. As such, we see a lot of reserve and restraint in Akanksha; in her words, in her voice; more awe and less dance. Some of us miss the childlike abandon, but we understand that it has been sacrificed to respect and gratitude.

Hindu Nectar is like being served hot piping chai on a cold winter morning - a reminder of home that invokes a sweet longing for....for the forgotten, for the deeply buried memories and for the missing pieces of one's self. It helps that the visuals are gorgeous and Chinmaya's background score is appropriately haunting. This 45 minute film confirms that India is not a nation, India is a spiritual proposal, a way of dropping the self and finding the Infinite. Cannot wait to see what else Akanksha will manifest in the future!

The visuals were arresting, the voiceover was sincere and engrossing, and the background music overwhelming. Loved Mr KVS. His words, conviction and clarity won me over. It is not an academic overview, not an intellectual treatise, but watching this movie was like experiencing the essence of what many term as Hinduism.

The Hindu world/universal view and concepts: Extremely hard to wrap your head around. 1. Atman: The Self (not soul, sanskrit non-translatable). Atman is present in all living beings. In worms, dogs, elephants and man (includes woman). 2. Brahman: inpersonal,non-authoritative,non-punitive,formless,shapeless presence across every nook and cranny of the universe/multiverse. Brahman is the reason why the laws of physics are consistent, the reason why the volcano erupts etc. Brahman is transcendental,all expansive, ultimate reality. 3. Atman = Brahman: the microcosm is the same as the macro cosm. You are Brahman. 'Tatvam Asi' = 'Thou art that'. 4. Atman is pure. 5. Atman can merge with brahman THROUGH: Yoga (root word: 'Yuj = union' of body,mind and Atman. THROUGH: Sadhana: Rituals. THROUGHBhakthi: Worship and reverence. THROUGH Gyana: Knowledge of the Vedas. 6. Brahman present in every nook and cranny and grain of the universe: This concept is called 'the Eminance of Brahman'. 7. Rebirth: Atman 'ditches' one body and assumes another and shall continue to do so until unites with Brahman. 8. Karma: the result of deeds, carried on by Atman from one Birth to another. 9. Maya: The reason why Atman has trouble recognizing Brahman. 10. Moksha/Mukthi: Liberation. A direct result of Yoga/Sadhana/Bhakthi or Nyana. 11. Swadharma: Swa=Mine. Dharma=Way of life. 'My way of life' means the ability to customize mode/form of life which will lead to moksha/mukti. Cannot be prescriptive insead highly customizable by you. SOME HINDU THOUGHT AND PHILOSOPHY - COMPARED 1. Man (includes women) is NOT a sinner. The 'Hindu Good News' is that man is pure. 2. Liberation is NOT salvation: Salvation pre-supposes a condition of being sinful. Liberation pre-supposes a condition of purity. 3. Atman is present in every living being and soul is present only in man (includes woman). 4. Atman can be reborn. Soul cant. It goes to heaven or hell and embracing the "proponent" of the religion makes the difference. 5. Heaven is a place where the soul is a guest in the kingdom of god. Liberation is when Atman merges with Brahman. DIFFERENT SCHOOLS OF THOUGHT ON ATMAN AND RELATIONSHIP WITH BRAHMAN: 1. Dvaitam: Duality. Believes that 'Creator' and 'Creation' are distinct entities. 2. Advaitam: Non-Duality: Believes that 'Creator' and 'Creation' are one and the same thing. 3. Vishishta-Advaitham: Qualified Non-Duality: Believes that 'Creator' and 'Creation' are one and the same thing. But you need an 'initiator' to help you reach divinity and this is the role of the 'Matha'(centre of learning) and the 'mathadipathi'(pontiff). SOME KEY ASPECTS TO HINDU PHILOSOPHY: 1. Parama-arthika: The divine realm. 2. Vyavaharika: The practical realm. Both of them are equally important. It is important to progress in both. Hence, scientific progress is the vehicle through which man discovers God. Hence, under the hindu faith, science has never been and is not at odds with religion. 3. Non-History centricism: As Hindu, One can experience the 'divinity project' without having to believe in historic incidents such as the mahabharatha or the ramayana. Infact, Hindus arent at all bound by their history. HINDU PLURALISM VS WESTERN SECULARISM Hindu Pluralism: 'You' are as right as 'I' am about god and we BOTH are equally valid paths to god. Most people think Hindus are polytheists. They are NOT. They are ALL worshipping 'Brahman" but pluralism accomodated every perspective into the mainstream. Western Secularism: 'I' dont think 'you' are equally right. Infact, I think you are wrong. But I "tolerate" your presence. KEY SANSKRIT NON-TRANSLATABLES ATMAN IS NOT EQUAL TO SOUL. Atman is pure. Soul is not. MOKSHA/MUKTHI IS NOT EQUAL TO SALVATION: Moksha is liberation from maya. Salvation pre-supposes a condition of sin. BRAHMAN IS NOT EQUAL TO GOD: Brahman is present in every nook and cranny while god is mainly an exterior being. Similarly..... SHAKTHI IS NOT EQUAL TO POWER AGNI IS NOT EQUAL TO FIRE PRANA IS NOT EQUAL TO LIFE VARNA IS NOT EQUAL TO CASTE Sanskrit cannot be so easily translated as there are very many non-translatables (roughly 100) which if translated, lend a whole other meaning to the text, hence watering down the essence. Hence, learning the bhagavad gita or upanishads or the vedas in any language other than sanskrit leads to totally misunderstanding them.

This movie is nourishment of the soul. We use this to teach people basics of Hinduism. Akankasha Ji you should have added just one more Rigvedic Shloka to give this documentary completeness "Indram Mitram Agnim Ãhu atho; Dhivya Sah: Suparnah Garûthman...E'kam Sath Viprah: Bahudhãh Vadhanthi, Agnim; Yama Matharisvãnam Ãhuh: -- Rig Veda - Verse I-164.46- For me Ekam Sat Viprah Bahudhah Vadanti - Truth is only one & wise know it by different names.. is one of the most important statement of ancient Indian thoughts... Thanks for making this movie..
