As soon as you said $700 and $1200 that was the end of the video for me. Lol

Michael Brohl Lol I hear you. No pun intended. There are definitely wayyyyy cheaper options out there. I use mine for more than just shooting. Concerts, car races, motorcycles, etc. They are way more comfortable than electronic muffs, they work way better and they are very discreet. The way I look at it, my hearing is well worth $1200 and even more. Look at it this way, I bet if you were deaf you would pay $1200 to get your hearing back so why not spend good money to keep it? Thanks for watching!

Too bad for you Michael... guess you missed the part where he said his insurance paid for them.

That's not bad for a custom fit earpro.

These devices are set up just like regular hearing aids. Here's a tip, you don't have to take the battery completely out of the device to turn it off. Simply cracking the battery door open a bit will do the trick. Also, if you don't plan on using the devices for an extended period of time, definitely remove the batteries. I've seen many hearing aids ruined from battery corrosion because of that. I'm a licensed Hearing Instrument Specialist, so I'm very familiar with this technology. 👍🏻

Laura B Hey thanks for watching! And thanks for the tip! I'm afraid of the battery door snapping off if I leave it cracked so I have just been removing the batteries every time. They pretty much only last for one match anyways so it works out well.

I just got the phantoms, mine were free too! Do you know if they will pair to any Bluetooth device? I know they pair to phones for streaming music and calls and stuff. But what about say a watch with music on it if I don’t want to workout with my phone on me? Thanks for the video.
@hashtagjustadad5110
@hashtagjustadad5110 2 года назад
I just received the phantom and they fit great. Do they work? Sure they do. The BIG problem i see with the Phantoms is the manner in which you turn them on. If you want to turn them off manually you press the button and hold it for three seconds. To turn them on you simply press the same button. That is the problem. When you manually turn them off and place them in the included carrying case that little button WILL be inadvertently pressed thereby turning them on. Why in the world did they not design them to turn on by pressing AND holding the button down for three seconds? That’s what you have to do to turn them off. For as much as these things cost that is a major flaw in my book.

Thanks for the review. Gonna try to see if my insurance will cover this. Do you happen to know if the sportear ghost will be covered with insurance as well if my insurance covers hearing aids??
@sincityguns3460
@sincityguns3460 7 лет назад
No prob and thanks for watching. As I understand it the ghosts would not be covered because that does not use a hearing aid caliber chip. Sport Ear does however have several other custom models that do and should be covered by insurance.

I'm a long time, three decade hearing aid user, outdoorsman, hunter and yes a new RU-vid creator too! I'm on MEDICARE, and last January I purchased my third set of Bluetooth enabled RIC or receiver in the canal, through United Healthcare, I purchased a set of PHONAK 50''s. They work great, but to shoot, I need to use the app and put the aids in the mute mode. Then place the muffs over them. You don't hear any range noise at all, but then you can't carry on any conversations either. Are these aids programmable to my hearing prescription? And do you know what the decibel level cut off is? Nice review!
@sincityguns3460
@sincityguns3460 2 года назад
Hey thanks so much for watching!! The ones I have are not programmable although they do have four separate preset programs. With that being said, I do believe that Sound Gear does have a model that is programmable similar to the RIC’s you are referring to.

$700? I may be buying a cat in a bag that does no better than ear plugs for $ 3.99 from Walmart.

The way to unplug the battery to turn them off is most likely a design feature. If you've ever left a slightly used hearing aid battery and then in a month or two come back to it you'll notice it has leaked. Sure many other single use battery technologies can leak too but not as fast. If you didn't have to unplug battery then people would just turn them off and forget all about until next - at which point they would've ruined a very expensive pair of electronic ear protection. If unplugging the battery you greatly reduce the risk of damage. That said depending on you usage pattern you might want to look into rechargeable options.

HifiCentret Hey thanks for watching! Great point I never thought of that. Good thing is these batteries are so cheap it’s really not an issue anyways.

@sincityguns3460
@sincityguns3460 19 дней назад
@@coolgr3y997 damn are you serious!? They are NOT at all worth that much. There are now much better options out there that can connect to your phone, music, etc. I still use these and they still work well but if I was in the market today I would go a much different direction.

I live in Vegas as well. Can you tell me what company you went with? I see there are three options listed on the website. I would like to avoid any issues and just go with the same company you did. Thanks, JJ Warren

JJ Warren Hey thanks for watching. I actually went through House of Hearing out of St. George UT. The owner is a friend of a friend and he is also a competition shooter and his company does a ton of these. I am up there for work every so often and I worked the fitting into a work trip then they just sent them directly to my house. Give them a call and see who they recommend in Vegas www.houseofhearing.com.

My insurance is through the city. It's terrible. When I called them about this, the representative started laughing into the phone. Then he said to his coworkers, this guy thinks we are going to cover hearing protection; they all started laughing too.
@sincityguns3460
@sincityguns3460 5 лет назад
How that’s really messed up dude. You should call your union rep if you have one and then also call the local newspaper station. I’m sure they would love to hear about a city provided insurance provider laughing at one of their clients / state employee.

way to.much $$ for me brither i know this would be a highend stuff but i prefer earmuffs i think 1200 for this i rather buy a new rifle. thx for this info thou .. and wts you opinion on this ones ( SPORTEAR GHOST STRYKE 30DB NRR) thx brother for making this video and the tip abt the insurance 👍👍👍🍻🍻

Hey thanks for watching! I feel ya dude. $1200 is steep, that's why I'm glad my insurance picked it up. A buddy of mine has the ghost strikes and he loves them! The ghost strikes might actually provide better protection because they have an option for using silicone ear bud inserts that seem to provide a very tight seal. Plus they are only $400. Thanks again for watching!

baltimoreace Hey thanks for watching!! Yea I think they are very comfortable. I wear them for 4-5 hours at a time during matches often in 100+ degree heat and I often forget I still have them in when I am finished shooting. Thanks for watching!

Nik Manesh I sure don't sorry man. I called soundgear and they referred me to a local doc who did the fitting and also filed the claim with my insurance. They waited for the approval before making my custom ear pieces. Hope that helps.

Q. Was the sport ear not covered by insurance? Thanks. Just think the other ones are better.
@sincityguns3460

CZ 1always I didn't get the sport ears because I would have had to drive an hour outside of Vegas to get fitted so I went with these. I agree I think the sport ears might be a bit better but after a year with these I have no complaints. They have been awesome!

From what I've seen those batteries don't work that way. As soon as you remove the sticker air enters a small hole in the battery and it will continue to drain the battery regardless if you have it in the device or not. That's why it's only lasting you the day. Another person said that it's also better to allow the battery to sit for 5 minutes after you remove the sticker to allow the air to saturate the inside. Supposedly it increases the battery life by 80%. At least that what they say.

so there was a specific preventive hearing protection covrage?
@sincityguns3460
@sincityguns3460 8 лет назад
It wasn't specific to preventative hearing protection but rather coverage for hearing aids. As I understand it since they use hearing aid technology it is covered. I am not sure what specific forms they filled out as all I did was give them my insurance info and they took care of the rest. Good luck dude!!
