Quad cortex and a decent 8 string. That’s it. All you need. If you’re just playing at home then archetype Gojira would be fine instead of the quad cortex
They’re not. The members of sleep token are as follows: Leo Faulkner Adam Pedder Dave Ball Rhys Griffiths Leo Faulkner writes almost completely all of the music and is the producer, as you can find on the studio/label info. Think of him as a Trent Reznor, extremely talented.
@@athmaidYup that’s it and Plini plugin is what they used for most of rhythm tones on the I let it in. Or Squier jazzmaster baritone or whatever VI baritone like Subzero.
Did not expect Sleep Token but they definitely have a cool sound, I don’t listen to them much but from what I do know I think you guys got really damn close. Also I’ve been suggesting these guys since Matt and Rabea did this show but I would love to see a Sound Like video on Ghost since they also have a lot of great tones as well
@@mikedamisch It'd definitely be interesting to see what they'd end up doing with it guitar-wise, like they could either go for an SG for some of their earlier tones or HSS Strat for the modern/Impera tones (I also know that they also use that Hagstrom Phantomen guitar that looks like a Gibson RD, which they also used) but even though Ghost is a two guitar band I also think a bass rig should be included since that's also a key part to their sound (Plus songs like From the Pinnacle to the Pit and Con Clavi Con Dio have some of the most badass bass intros ever lol)
It’s so many layers. Tobias has done videos and interviews about the multiple amps and guitars that get blended for their songs. Copping that tone would be tough.
You could probably get away with any dual humbucker Epiphone, and an orange micro dark for Matts base tone. Throw in a Green Russian Fuzz and you’re basically there. For Al I have no idea what a cheap equivalent to a Rickenbacker would be as I’m not a bassist, but I know “Does It Doom” has a pedal for his sound called Giza.
I mostly listen to 60s-80s rock and blues so I don't recognize the band, but I'm pumped to see a new "Sounds Like"!! Please keep them coming!! Can we have a Sounds like Santana BY busting the bank?? Maybe with Santana on the episode??
I remember suggesting a Brian Setzer/Stray Cats video back when Matt and Rabea were still running the show, but I do agree that a rockabilly/surf rock video could be really cool to see
Bass sounded really good. The guitar rig would've needed a bigger budget to sound right or maybe more time to set up the patches. Love me some Sleep Token 🤘
Wait so John just ups the budget by £500 and Ben has to stick with the GP200? He should have gone and got a Helix LT. Also that Craig Reynolds nap voucher reference was class 🤟🏻
@@caspay21 oh I'm glad you replied. I ordered the Valeton GP200 last week and it should be here tomorrow. So, now I'll ask you where to find some good IR packs? Bonus points if they are free but still good. I don't mind buying some either but Id like to dip my toes in with maybe a free pack
Think this could've been a good opportunity to grab an 8 string and the Gretsch Baritone IV was using before the Jackson customs to compare sounds and see what's most suited for people.
as an owner of a valetone gp 200 i would love to have the path you guys used for the guitar and also for synester gates guitar tone in the avenged sevenfold video
we NEEEED details on the patches that Ben is using on that GP-200, i got one and i really want to recreate that specific sound. if anyone knows where to find it if they already posted that please let me know!
only thing i do not like abou the ibanez is I cannot replace the pickup in the future if i wanted to because they routed and made the pick up at like a 75 degree angle. sick guitar thoo only I have the 7 string version. p.s. its not an iron label its from the standard rg line
They had to find the lowest ceiling in the store to make these gents looks super tall lol (and yes, I realize it's the digital section of the store lol)
First off, not music related, John has a pleasant British accent and Ben's has much more twang. What regions do they represent, if any? As an American it's like a deep south or heavy NY accent vs a less regional accent. Just curious. Anyway, I appreciate a heavier Sounds Like. What about Karnivool, Vildjharta, or their take on something like Corrosion of Conformity, Kyuss, or Clutch? I enjoy all of the output from this channel while I drink beer and get ready for the next day.
Good Me says - Tough gig for anyone to do , Great effort , Well done.👏😊 Evil me says - Digitise John and send Ben off to do a Andertons Punch n Judy segment with Oz,💣 Bring back Dave and Cici.🙏 Rational me says - Shut up and enjoy it , They are all far more talented than I am.🤔😭 I'll let myself out....😞
i feel like we have left the age of boss katana on every rig, and we have entered the era of the gp 200 for budget rig builds. I'm totally here for it. I havent tried out any of the multi fx/ amp modeling options we have now-a-days, but ive been eyeballing the valeton as a starting point. Does anyone know of anything better? Is it really a huge difference between the gp200 and something like the HX stomp? I kind of like the layout on the valeton but like i said i havent tried any of these options we have now a day
It seems for many it wasn't about having more strings and therefore notes, it was more about the scale length that came with these guitars. Now with modelers being better at pitch shifting than the old Digitech pedals and 28+ inch baritone guitars being widely available, the demand seems to have dropped
If a band has a $2500 budget between the guitarist and bassist they should just get a quad cortex and they can both run through it, plus it has room for two others if they want. Upgrade instruments after the fact if you even find it necessary anymore
2000 USD is about 1500 GBP give or take once converted, so that is around what budget they’re using anyways. 1500 pounds over here is quite a bit of money, certainly not seen as budget in this current living crisis 😭
As other mentioned , the bass amp head is overkill if you go direct through DI, a Darkglass Ultra would have been enough. The cash saved could maybe have been invested in a compressor!
They've been gone for a couple years at this point. Rabea is off doing his own thing with his band and Matt is still just running stuff behind the scenes.
