Oh how I wish that personal grace and polish could come back into our world. It is sorely missed and DESPERATELY needed. " Dignified friendly " is a characteristic I strive for everyday. I keep thinking if I keep it on my mind , it will hopefully become natural part of my persona. Us a lovely thing to strive for.
Today we lost Liesl, beautiful talented Charmian Carr at 73. The most memorable blue eyes who never stopped being 16 going on 17 in her heart, smile or beauty. We will miss you. So long, farewell, aufiderzein, good-bye Liesl. We all love you.
Agreed... ~~~ Rest in Peace Dear Charmian Carr -- You will ALWAYS be Remembered...Cherished...and yes, there's a very special place in our hearts & minds (now & forever more...) -- where you will *Forever Be* : The Lovely & Wonderful Liesl Von Trapp. ~~~ *Good-bye Charmian Carr...Aufiderzein...*
I have absolutely loved her voice my entire life. No matter what your age - a wonderful movie. Incredible performances of an incredible Rogers & Hammerstein masterpiece.
My Mum knew Julie well, Mum passed at 87 on 5th May, 2016. Her Dad, my late Granddad Phil Robertson, used to write music scores for his protege' Julie Andrews, in Manchester. He was a celebrated composer way back then, lost his 3 older brothers in WW1 in France, he was too young to go to war. I have seen SOM more than 200 times, whenever I am sad or down, I put this wonderful film on, we have every re-issue ever made since the VHS tapes of old. My wife says "Not Again".... I loved Liesl / Charmian. I was only 8 years old in 1965 when we went to see the film at The Adelphi Theatre in Slough (Greater London). Julie was so beautiful, but Charmian was forever my heartthrob! Was devastated when she passed at such a young age....
The first movie I ever paid for myself in 1965. This film is 54 years old and it's as special and wonderful as any movie ever made. NO ONE can top Julie Andrews. Thanks to all the kids who made this the BEST feel good movie that spans generations.
I completely agree! If I ever met her in person I would have to be in a tux or something SUPER fancy. I would never meet her in jean and a T-shirt . . . I would feel so awkward. Haha.
I love how Julie Andrews was so brave. She knew she couldn’t sing, but she still sang along and lead the others to sing the song! She’s also very elegant Julie Andrews cannot die!
This is unbelievable! The Sound of Music is one of my favorite musicals. To see everyone together is really a treat. Julie Andrews is the epitome of a lady.
Hi, it’s nice meeting you here.. I’m Edward and it would be nice getting to know you,if that’s ok with you? My mom once said good friends are never too much to have. if you don’t mind, can we be friends??
The Sound of Music was my first indoor film. At the age of 4 I froze in my seat as these wonderful people entertained me. Thank you to the cast, crew and their families for making this gem possible.
Hi Karen, it’s nice meeting you here.. I’m Edward and it would be nice getting to know you,if that’s ok with you? My mom once said good friends are never too much to have. if you don’t mind, can we be friends??
The oldest son in the movie that played Friedrich von Trapp/Nicholas Hammond...his grandson went to my daughter's elementary school and he came and sang at one of the elementary events at school. It was so incredible!
Charmian Carr was a friend of mine when our daughters attended the same private school and we were active in the parents organization together. We had a special connection in that my Dad, Bill Lee, provided every singing note for Christopher Plummer. Charmy as we all called her passed away a few years ago and we all miss her. RIP dear lady.
Yeah! Exactly! Just like they sang in the movie... "...when the dog bites, when the bee stings, when I'm feeling sad, I simply remember my favorite things... ."
I still watch sound of music every Christmas. I don't know why, it's got nothing to do with Christmas. But when I was a kid, they always broadcasted it around Christmas time for some reason, so I always think of Sound of Music when Christmas comes around.
I seen her several movies, her actions, sitting, talking , walking , all is very well mannered, classy. Sing very nice too. God bless them. Great movie. I still enjoy to watch it again.
One of my very favorite movies. I was about 4 when this movie was released and all 4 of my children also enjoyed watching it; we watched it fairly often when they were growing up. Great to see the cast together again. It's too bad that Christopher Plummer couldn't be with them. Julie Andrews is such a classy woman. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a lot of those kinds of women around anymore. Thanks to the entire cast for the memories!
my +mother (1935-2015) introduced me to classic hollywood movies & broadway musicals since i was barely 4 or 5 years old... this is one of our favorite movies wherein we sing together as we are watching it... now that i am already 49 y.o. & she passed away 5 years ago, watching this clip on you tube brings back beautiful memories with her since i am her only child... truly, this movie never failed to uplift me whenever i am a little bit under the weather... ☺🐾
Hi, it’s nice meeting you here.. I’m Edward and it would be nice getting to know you,if that’s ok with you? My mom once said good friends are never too much to have. if you don’t mind, can we be friends?? Lovely smile you got there on your profile picture😊.
One of the most memorable moments of my life was sharing an elevator in Century City, L.A., with Julie Andrews - just the two of us - and having a totally banal, yet memorable, for me, conversation with her. She was just as classy and extraordinary as you might imagine!!
One of my favorite musicals and Julie is certainly among my favorite actresses/singers. Paying homage to Julie and The Sound Of Music, I stumbled across a video of Lady Gaga doing a tribute to the film and Julie. Absolutely floored me! Long live Julie Andrews!
The way Julie looks at all of her children so precious after all these years. Still reminds me of when I first watched it for the first time. I wanted to watch it again but I had to wait for it. Rest in peace, Christopher❤
I saw this film 25 times at various cinemas - the first time when I was about 6 - before the video came out. I've watched it a million times since then. I absolutely adore it and I know all the words when I'm listening to it! lol
Julie Andrews is a truly polite and well-mannered lady, it's perfectly plausible she actually sits like that, and is not borrowing it from her character in The Princess Diaries XD
Great movie and fantastic music! It was not until I was an adult I found out the real story was much less dramatic than the movie portrayed. For instance, the family left on a train, with everybody in the village wishing them good luck. But there were some true elements as well, so what the heck? Thank you for posting!
When they sung all together again, I cried, why am I being emotional lately 😣 beautiful reunion of the casts of the wonderful musicals, Sound of Music ❤️
What a wonderful movie that is. The emotions are palpable throughout the movie but the best part of the movie, I think, is the pure, beautiful, undeniable love between Captain VonTrapp and Maria. Makes me want to watch it again.
This is one of my ALL TIME FAVOURITE MUSICAL'S. YOU ARE ALL AMAZING FAN MUSICAL. YOUR ALL STATES IN MY EYES. THANK YOU FOR ENTERTAINING US SO PERFECTLY. BLESS YOU. RIP TO THOSE NOT HERE. I LOVE WATCHING IT OVER & OVER & OVER. I NEVER GET TIRED OF THE SOUND OF MUSIC. THANK YOU TO YOU ALL 😅
I was so lucky to have been taken to the Cinema by our teacher , I was 8 in 1965, and i still recall this with so much fondness, and yes, the lady, Julie Andrews is a true star of the screen, unlike all those so called reality (non stars) .This Lady is a true superstar.
Tears falling... I remember Mum and I watching it a few times together when I was a kid. She explained things when I didn't quite grasp what was going on, and still remember her own reactions in certain parts. Mum passed last year from cancer- I so wish I could see it with her one more time! Classic film. Thanks for this.
Haley Warman Ooh sorry to hear about your mum. Like everyone, we're all unique. No one is replaceable. You shall meet your mum on the other, where pain does not exist. I used to sit with my children and husband to watch sound of music. It was a classic. Very well written. Keep well. 🎶🎶🎶🎤🎤🎷🎸🎸
I just watched this movie again tonight. It brought me back to my childhood days. Thanks for creating this movie.. and all the actors and actresses especially maria!
This gave me the chills lol I had the biggest crush on Liesl lol one of the most greatest movies ever made, no CGI no special effects just pure greatness God Bless them all!
@@marthahawkinson-michau9611 Hearing her sing Edelweiss made my heart soar, that voice is just so enchanting. And she was such a “lady” a drop dead gorgeous lady
I can relate a lot to The Sound of Music because I was around the same age as the younger children (8 years old) when this film came out, and my background is Swiss and the Austrian culture and scenery was therefore very familiar to me. The younger boy here who played Kurt actually looked like my brother did at the time.
I saw this beautiful movie "The Sound Of Music"on year 1965 with my mother in a Theater when I was only around 8 years old! Now I'm 65 years old! What an unforgetable movie of all time!
The most beautiful film I've seen in my life. Be blessed, all of them, those who are here and those who, perhaps, are not. Unique, Julie Andrews. I adored her as a child, and I'll always do. From Buenos Aires, Argentina.
I Love Julie Andrews acting & normal lifestyle also singing. I would like to see again a new reunion program with these seven children & the Prince Julie Andrews. Thanks.
I was 11 when my mother had to drag me to the movie house to see this! Two weeks later, while on vacation in Miami, I couldn’t wait to see it again.I’m 67 now, and try to see it once a year.
I have listened to other singers do Julie's opening song, but as fine as they are, I'm always reminded that here will never be another Julie Andrews. She was perfection.
This movie was my Best Grandma's Favorite of all time!! She would watch it at least twice a month if not more... she's been gone for 13 yrs and she was my best friend. My grandma would try to sing and hum the song Edelweiss and I truly Love the song and I'm glad they sang it again.. it's a lovely song! Julie Andrews has always been classy and watching her in other movies like Victor/Victoria and the wonderful in The Princess Diaries 1 and 2!! What a beautiful Queen she would make!! Cheers and Sweet Blessings to You Julie Andrews!!
