you can also put the compressor through an aux input so you can insert the compressor on any channel that has the aux knob so you don't have to keep plugging in and unplugging the compressor.
@deltafit - you have to use as many inserts and channels as you have coming out, if you are running mono then just the mono out, if you are stereo then you need both
if you want to compress more than one channel then use a group. and actually you don't aux's for dynamics, because your changing the sound you dont want to add to it, we use aux's to take a small amount of the signal not all of it!
ya know, i think that would work- but the signal would always be going through the pedal. why not go from the guitar to the distortion to the mixer? or are you using a guitar with no amplification?
Very helpful video, I just ordered the same compressor/limiter. I want to use it on the kick, snare, bass and use the last channel to comp on a loud vocalist. I want to comp the kick, snare and also use the limiter, how does that work? If I set the limiter to unity or +1 it will limit any signals past that correct? Thanks!
Im a drummer, I have a Yamaha MG166CX 16-Channel Mixer With Compression. But only 6 channels have compression. Can I buy the compresser you have and add compression to the channels that dont have built in compression. Or buy a compressor with built in gating. Im new to useing mixers, Thanks if you can help me out. Great video!
Hello , Jeff your videos are great ! ,I have a question i hope you can answer. I have a mackie sr 24 and i also have 2 tascam da-88s pluged into the the first 16 channels , the inserts are used as outputs to the recorders , can i plug my compressor into the aux inserts and how would i do that? Thanks Glenn
Jeff, loved your video's. I'm new to this and now know how to hook up my Compressor but need help hooking up my reverb. Have a Lexicon MX300 that I want to hook up to my new Soundcraft GB2R-16, please help, Thanks David N
hey quick question could you get 2 insert leads and plug one side into one channel of the mixer like you did there and the other side into another channel of the mixer so you can have 2 signals being compressed
If i wanted to insert a compressor to the MAIN INSERT, would i need 2 insert cables for both L + R channels? Going into two seperate compressor channels? I would really appreciate your advice.
Hello, I was given a mixer by a friend and now I need technical advice on how to connect 2 laptops together with it. Please be very specific as I may not understand the technical jargon. I have a Behringer Eurorack UB1202. I hope you can help.
hey man i have a question for you,can i hook a smaller mixer into my big mixer i want to run my drums on a different mixer but i need to put the 2 boards together thanks?
@@John48778 4600 is a basic comp not a pro audio comp. It's good for talk shows, radio guest shows where you can connect 4 people in a discussion without having breathing noise, etc. Pro audio comps have Attack, Release, Threshold, Ratio and all those fine tuning parameters to get the audio signal processed as you want.
@@John48778 I am sorry, I haven't used 2600. If you are talking about a band live performance I am not sure either of them are good. They both are not Pro audio. Go for a Pro Audio in live setup you can rely on them.
Suppose my compressor a klark teknik dn504 has xlr inputs and outputs input being balanced signal and output signal being unbalanced...the kicker being pin 3 is hot. The Y cable they make are pin2 hot and unbalanced xlrm/xlrf to 1/4 trs.....my understamding is the only way that cable would work to an I/0 insert 1/4 trs is by putting a polar flip adapter on the input and output @ compressor can you confirm this? Everyone else is pulling a trump card and pleading the 5th
