So cool to see a company have a leader that is willing to face issues head on and solve them! Now go buy one of these awesome little metronomes.
Thanks to Florian Simmendinger for reaching out!

Overall I love this as a practice metronome and love the updates they have made in the last year. If you are a windows or android user there is only limited support (and no VST yet), but hopefully there will be a windows VST coming out from them soon to make this thing amazing for use in the studio. I'll update any changes here in the comments.

I’m a paraplegic and was having trouble learning to stay in time. Everyone said to tap my foot….well, that wasn’t possible…the Soundbrenner has been a game changer for me. Just got my core model and it has already helped me tremendously!

No double-talk, no defensiveness. Model leadership.

I liked this video because it shows how the company reacts to problems, which is the first thing I look for in a supplier. After all, most things aren't great when they begin (as Rosabeth Moss Kanter said "everything looks like a failure in the middle"), but it's how they incorporate feedback and failure which determines whether they can improve their product or not. By the way, I like the product too!

SOUNDBRENNER CORE - BUYER BEWARE After ten months using my Soundbrenner Core it stopped vibrating. I contacted Rose in their warranty department. She gave me a list of four of five settings to check on my phone app. I use the core separate from the phone app. After checking these settings I reported it still would not vibrate. Not in the warranty agreement,Hong Kong based Soundbrenner, asked me to make a video of the core interacting with the app. Being an older person living alone I do not have a video set up so I sent them a screen shot of the phone app, a picture of the core, and proof of purchase. This was not sufficient and they refused to honor the warranty. The also said the do not extend the one year warranty to you if you do not buy directly from them Vibration is the unique feature of the core. Because it broke after ten months and their onerous warranty demands I would not recommend purchasing the Soundbrenner Core

Hey man, thanks for this review, the talk with Florian really helped me. I was hesitating to buy the SP, I guess I'm going to wait for the next version of the hardware. I would also need to change tempo mid song, that's my main expectation for the next software version.

Wearing it directly on a bone is a good suggestion, found this out myself. I wear it on the pelvic bone and so the whole bone vibrates. This is pretty hard to ignore. I sew kind of a bodystrap by myself to wear it in this place. I was a bit afraid to wear it near my heart, because I don't know if it gets affected by it. A discovery I made was: if you don't feel it, you're keeping time. When you start feeling it again, you're a litte late or early. What didn't work out is to connect more than one pulse to an android phone. It's possible to connect them, but if you start the vibration, the app increases the speed. Works pretty fine with iPhone.

Got mine yesterday, I've been using the free metronome app for a while and have enjoyed it so I took the plunge and bought the Pulse. I must say that I've tried placing the pulse in a variety of places and the only location that really works is on the core, as many others have said. I'm actually using the small watch band around my guitar strap, so that the pulse presses against my collarbone at the place where the weight of the guitar rests. Perhaps Soundbrenner would consider producing a special guitar strap for this application? Anyway, it's an innovative product and Soundbrenner are obviously committed to customer satisfaction as evidenced by this video response and other interaction on social media. I do feel that the vibrations of the unit itself could stand to be a LOT stronger, and this is going to have limited use for me because of that. Still, I think that this product is the start of something good. And would consider a second generation Pulse if the haptic feedback were more powerful. Also would love to see a IPad compatible DAW that would work from within Cubasis.

Definitely a brilliant idea having a guitar strap variant, I'd use it all the time.

It would be REEEALLY great to have the possibility to program some tempo changes in the middle of a song.. Then we can play some Dream Theater and prog stuff, you know... =D BUT still, I'm waiting the Windows version to buy my unit! =D

Great review video - and response from Joe Soundbrenner - They should make this integrated into a guitar strap. That would be useful.

I play guitar with someone running Ableton. Is the latency perfect enough for live situations? Would like to have parts where guitar starts with the right tempo before the beats kick in from lap tops

With ableton Link it works pretty well but will sometimes lose connection or have trouble. The vst is Mac only and I'm a PC user so that might work. So if syncing with a laptop I'd say probably not. But they are reliable when synced from a phone, so if you need just a click that could work

I got a Soundbrenner for Christmas. I could not turn it on. When I got it on I could not turn it off. When I tried it while playing (drummer), I could not feel the vibration. So I did not use it. I just updated it, and it turns on and off easy. I am having difficulty making a set list. Although, I still cannot feel the vibration when I play.

is anyone still using these things? i ordered one because I need to start learning to keep time and learn to count, theres a thousand unboxing vids where ppl give their opinions but nothing out on people who are useing these or how long they last in a daily use situation.

I got the latest one (SB core) a year or two ago and still use it as my main metronome-I don’t use the earlier ones anymore but did until I got the new one. Still good to use regular metronomes but I find I can practice longer with an SB as it is less annoying.

@@SPEARFISHER i ordered a demo from sweetwater, so its used its the limited blue one i figured that'd be the newest of the used ones... i just need to learn to count i try to say 1234 and all that but i'm retarded and ADD so as soon as i shift my focus, or deviate from the constant loop, its like momento i have no idea where i'm at... i thought if i got one it would force me to try and figure out how to walk and chew bubblegum at the same time.

I am now in real doubts, whether I should buy Soundbrenner or not. I checked different comments on web and most of them were saying, that it is hard to feal the beat when you play with the band or at the gig.

Depends on the person! I can feel it if I put it on my leg when playing piano, but its hard to feel if you are using those muscles (like having it on your arms and playing drums).

My drummer and bass player bought it, they insisted on me getting it, it just seemed silly to me. The drummer would loose tempo as we played louder, couldn't feel the vibration, tried different parts of the body, nothing. We just stopped talking about it and it turned into another grown-up toy they bought, its just sitting there... We use in ears so he is back to the old school yet VERY useful click click click

Are there any health issues by placing the soundbrenner on the chest and near to the heart? I am a drummer and was about to send it back when I saw this post. I have experimented with placing it on my upper torso and it is easier to feel the pulsations. My only concern is if it could effect my internal organs.
@Soundbrenner
@Soundbrenner 7 лет назад
Hi Funkydrumshack, we are regularly using the body strap and have not experienced any side effects. We believe the risk is low since there are many professions that are regularly exposed to much stronger vibrations. Think for example of a street worker who is using a jackhammer every day for work over extended periods of time. However, we have not performed any long-term health studies so just to be on the safe side if you have any heart issues we do recommend to consult a doctor first before using the Soundbrenner Pulse. If you are concerned about any health issues you can also place the Soundbrenner Pulse on your shoulder using the body strap which is also an excellent position.

Thank you for your swift reply. On another issue is there anyway of reducing the amount of mechanical noise the device emits? When I researched buying the soundbrenner there was a youtube clip of someone using dental floss (?) or something similar to modify the amount of sound it emits. I can no longer find the clip. Or I may have imagined it? :-)

First of all. I don't think a vibrating Metronome on the body is not the thing to keep time when playing in a band without a click track or in recording . the whole purpose of a Metronome is learning to keep time and learning to keep time without having one at hand, so if your body waits for the vibration your timekeeping skills go to hell. And it its quit obvious that none here knows how to practice with a Metronome as I can read in the comments , " I can't speed up the bpm in a recording or program it to speed up to another bpm instead of using the simple speed up there is .Playing at 60bpm one note per beat, and speed up to 2 ,3 ,4 notes per beat , while the metronome stays at 60 beats per minute instead of 120 or 240 bpm quit easy right ,so you can build up your speed at 60 bpm by doubling the notes you play in one beat and so on. it is handy if you set your Metronome Volume not to loud if it is possible , if you are in time you will not hear the click if you not in time you will hear it, after a while of training you will not hear the loudest Metronome anymore it comes second nature, you will not hear it anyway if you play with a full flat out AC 15/30 but that is contra productive to learn time keeping. And the price they charging for that plus the subscription fee is way to expensive
