I canceled my order for the X600 after watching your videos over the last two weeks. I was initially hyped by the fake reviews. I decided to go with the Harman Kardon Citation 300(lightly used) instead. For the same price (around $150), it’s on a whole other level 😊
which new speakers are we expecting this year? Soundcore Boom 2, Charge 6 (with even a bigger logo i hope), Flip 7? more sony speakers with really attractive names? (xbsr 45287 something something) ue boom 4 (With 1% bass addition) and tribit maxsound plus mega max boom motion flex xtrereme stormflow mega?
Love your work and the welcome touch of Goodiesk 🇬🇧 humour! 😂 Thanks for sharing your technically very-sound, audio knowledge. I'm still enjoying my Bose Soundlink Flex and watching your detailed Flex reviews and comparisons certainly gave me an easy confidence in the purchase. You're the man, Alan 👍
@@alanrossreviews I purchased it a little over a year ago and try to maintain the battery charge between 40 to 80%, as a way to extend, the unit's useful battery capacity and overall life! Occasionally I'll take a phone call on it, whilst I'm in the middle of listening to something, it's quite handy that way!
The new motion 2 is out! And it's like the original, I'm loving it. Can't wait for Alan to tune it and make it even better. Glad to see you again Mr Alan Ross
Greetings from across the pond. I had purchased 2 of these late November 23 . Initially I ordered 1 then a week later I ordered another one because I like high volume music. As you have mentioned that every review said this was the bestest! LOL!! But seriously I recently started listening to these more carefully and could not believe how poorly these sound when you turn the volume up at higher levels indeed they do have a great upper range but Motion Boom slays the X600 in low and mid base and that is a 79-100 speaker all day long. I also have been going back and forth with Soundcore USA customer service and have a 2nd reply I have not answered not sure what my next step will be. Also did you see the Motion Boom #2 soon to be released? thanks for all you content.
Hi Alan! You said you ordered the Soundcore Boom 2 for review. PAY ATTENTION! There are 2 versions: 1. Soundcore Boom 2 (2 tweeters + subwoofer) 2. Soundcore Boom 2 SE (2 full-range speakers, like Motion Boom). Maybe the SE version could have better stereo separation, more surround sound, more "warm sound". Since you don't consider the subwoofer+2 tweeter to be true stereo (I agree with you). That is, there are 2 different versions, and it is not a fact that Boom 2 is better than Boom 2 SE
Nice one as usual Alan! This is sad actually, nevertheless there's a whole lot of new releases like the JBL Xtreme 4, Minirig 4, Zealot S-79...there's a whole lot of interesting comparisons to come with time If i may ask, if one have two Soundcore speakers to pair in stereo but they have different firmwares, will it affect how the secondary speaker play even though it uses the primary speaker's EQ on both? For example if Soundcore X600 4.2.9 is the primary speaker & 4.3.2 is the secondary speaker & both are paired in stereo, while both with play with primary EQ on 4.2.9, will difference in firmare make the 4.3.2 sound differently even while playing with 4.2.9 EQ when connected in TWS or will both sound thesame, is it thesame outcome too for other soundcore speakers that stereo pair?
@@alanrossreviews Oh, ok! Looking forward to that Thanks for your time & great work Alan, i just wish you do review Home Theatres & other audio gears, here would be my virtual abode😁, no one does it like you do More power to you!
@@alanrossreviews Ok, it's all good I'm more than satisfied already with you in the BT speaker world already, whether i'm going to buy a BT speaker or not, i enjoy watching all your reviews, they are interesting, insightful, educative, entertaining & much more All the best Alan!
Glad your back🎉 I just got the Onn large party speaker gen2 from Wally world on sale for 119.00 free ship👀..it seems great for.the price...Any chance you can prove me wrong?🤣
I got an update for my X600 a few weeks ago and I'm now on firmware version 4.3.6 - I honestly haven't given it a thorough listen since this update because it sounded like crap for so long I didn't figure this update would be any different. After I've given it a decent listen I'll give you and your community an update. Thank you for all your reviews!
Welcome back Alan! I so dearly hope this upcoming "Boom 2" from them is not such a trainwreck, but rather a proper speaker that is competitive in the current market...
Upon consultation with our relevant team members, we regret to inform you that the Motion Boom 2 will not be available in the European market in the foreseeable future.😮 soundcore Customer Support Manager
Glad to see your back and hope you had s nice time off, just a suggestion maybe include the source material along side so people can see it against what it's meant to sound like might be better ?
its a question of how long can my videos get and how much more time do i want to spend on them. 🤷♀️ i do sometimes do this but this isnt my job, its a hobby, i can only spend so much time on it.
Oh man, that distortion is audible. I'll bet if you run a sine sweep on it and examine the THD in the response with R.E.W., it would be clocking over 10% at bass frequencies ...
It still has that ugly ''bop bop'' i think around 70-80 Hz The woofers are bottoming out. They're not made for so much excursion This speaker needs a little Subwoofer like Minirig and a Highpass around 100 Hz so it would sound so much cleaner
So great to see you back, Alan! 😍 Always gonna be haters, unfortunately, 🙁 and the truth will receive hate from the shills and others that can't accept reality. I appreciate the thorough testing and level of detail you put in to your reviews. Thank you for another great one, Alan! 😁👍👏
A bit off topic but... I just got an email a day or two ago announcing their Soundcore Boom 2. So, I pop on the internet and see if anyone had pre-release models to review since they are launching in a week. Well, I can't find anyone with hands on reviews. Makes me wonder if they are about to drop a turd on us. I will probably buy one for the heck of it. It would be nice if it is a motion boom with a lotte better high frequency and more power.
thats a good point! no early reviews. so maybe the economics of paying off every reviewer meant they wasnt making enough on the speakers? this boom 2 looks like a typical speaker to me. we shall see. wonder how they fit both the boom plus and boom 2 into the same segment.
@@alanrossreviewsWell, the usual crew of sensationalist videos are out. "The Best speaker $130 can buy!" "Basshead Approved" "Hands down THE BEST speaker under $150" One dude was at least throwing out comparisons with other speakers without a ton of fluf so I used that to sorta pre-judge the thing. Man, if you thought the Motion Boom Plus had some harsh highs, I think this one may take the lead in that metric. IT does seem to hold it together a lot better than the good ole Motion Boom but those scratchy highs... I was really hoping Soundcore would send you one since you pretty much were the driving force behind the Motion Boom success.
@@alanrossreviewsSo... I buckled and bought a Boom 2. I am actually glad that I did believe it or not. IT does seem to have a bit of an annoying peak in the lower treble but in real world, doesn't sound as awful as the peak on the MB+. Oh, and they gave it the "full band" EQ like the x600! I started messing with it but that turned in to a rabbit hole of constantly doubting myself after about 10 min of messing with the treble sliders. It is objectively worlds above the venerable Motion Boom though and it almost seems like they have made some real steps toward keeping things from going entirely to hell when you push the speaker. Way louder than the MB. To my ears, it has less bass overall than the Motion Boom Plus (duh) but seems to go a little deeper. I told soundcore they need to send you one so we can get a proper custom EQ setting but not holding my breath on that.
🤣🤣I know, right? Mine jumped from 4.3.2 to 4.3.6. No 4.3.3,...4.3.5. I have been on 4.3.2 since last year and the software was "up to date" all along until a few days ago when 4.3.6 showed up. Where are the updates in between?
i dindt decide to buy one of this motion, i got the motion 300 but i sen it back i dint find a pleasent sound, now i would like to try the motion boom 2, but lets see the tribit stormbox blast its hard to beat, same with the jbl partybox enconre, only problen with this one its the battery life but out of this its a great speaker.
I’ve watched numerous videos about this speaker and Alan’s videos over and over and it’s seems to me as if the problem is more hardware related rather than software, it’s a shame because this had the potential to be a really good speaker but seems if soundcore rushed this out the door. I’ve recently borrowed a x600 from a friend and have examined the response in REW and it’s evident that the passive radiators are tuned too high, and no matter how much dsp tuning soundcore do, your not going to change literal physics, it feels like in an attempt to fix the bass they’ve boosted it however it’s not going to play any deeper and smoother as the hardware is not set up that way and it shows, all they’ve now achieved is a boomy distorted mess, great big shame for what could’ve had a lot more potential, just seems like a half-assed attempt from soundcore. And what makes it worse is all the fake reviews going around hyping it up, this is far from a audiophile speaker as many say, not saying there isn’t a market for it, but it’s been marketed to the wrong audience. Great video Alan, the only RU-vidr that’s not afraid to say it how it is 👊🏻
maybe cause im the only one with nothing left to lose 😝 i literally started youtubing speakers because of the amount of lies on youtube and things have actually gotten worse.
Great seeing you back Alan, good to know Soundcore do support their products (for a while at least...). Wonder if the market's become saturated or people are replacing these things less often?? Left-field question (don't know if pro-audio is your game..) do you know what happened to Ohm? Used to be top draw gear for small-midsized venues
most of the girls end up on onlyfans which is why its so funny, its basically a showcase for onlyfans lol! actually its very enjoyable, all about the workings on a super yacht for charter.
Hello Sir, hope you can get the Soundcore Boom 2, another gimmick product from the company. They said the power will increase from 60 to 80 watts when the *BassUp 2.0* is turned on 😂 I mean... It's a midsize speaker, how come it has a similar power to the Boom Plus? Make no sense LOL
Under my understanding the 4.x.x firmware is the LDAC firmware that you can only get on the Android app. The 3.x.x firmware is the normal SBC firmware that is on the iOS app version and works better with Apple products.
@@alanrossreviews Correct, once you enable LDAC on an Android device it downloads 4.x.x and that will carry over on iOS. But if you never connect the speaker to an Android phone/app, you can't enable LDAC and will stay on 3.x.x. The only major difference between 3 & 4 is that 4 contains LDAC alongside SBC, where 3 is just SBC.
2X motion booms or 1X tribit stormbox blast? I already have a motion boom plus for outdoors. I really love the deep bass on the tribit and want a more "musical" speaker than the boom plus as alan puts it for indoor use. Which one should I get?
@@alanrossreviews thats right, if i didnt order the xtreme 4, make videos etc i would probably be now at 930 sub 🤣So you need to work and to have money to buying speaker, if you don't have money you dont have a channel 😁😁
@@alanrossreviewsIn as much as i don't want this to be true, i actually agree with you, its so sad, from the days of Soundcore Motion Boom Plus, i think Soundcore hasn't been living up to their past glory Before the coming of MB+, i was like if this little MB can move rocks, the big brother MB+ could actually move mountains but alas i was wrong & highly disappointed Who knows maybe there's a change of management team in Soundcore that led to all these It's so sad anyways!
@@alanrossreviews Thanks! Unfortunately, I can't find the LG. Soundcore is selling the X600 at 120 now, thought about buying it, but the bass distortion, the 12h life battery and 6h for charging don't make me want to spend over 100. If the bass was reasonable it would've been a great speaker. Really appreciate your videos! Cheers!
@shoerice5083 I bought it based on the reviews, but when I started playing music, I couldn't believe myself how bad it sounded. At that point, I started looking for an honest review and saw this channel, and I think this guy is pure gold. 👌
Still waiting for Tribit or Soundcore or someone else to make a better speaker than the Soundcore motion boom in a similiar size/form factor. Under £150 if possible.
I was wondering how the x600 spatial audio is although I can't listen to it live but can only find RU-vid videos about the x600 so what do you think about his sound quality and spatial audio after all the price isn't cheap
cause I'm listening indoors in a small place and I need a wireless speaker and I'm hoping that the sound quality of the speaker is good and then it's not too big and not too small sized portable bluetooth speaker and then it's just that I like to have the soundstage and the spatial audio kind of feeling lol
Thanks to you I've returned x600 and bought jbl authentic 300 at 350€ I really like the sound. But i have a question from you .. does connecting to AC power most of the time, damage the battery?
I suppose they could have had supply issues with hardware and have had to change stuff. If that is the case, i think theyve done pretty well to get the sound close. All that being said, i wouldnt buy one 😜 Good to see ypu Alan 👍
Wondered where you'd gone, I take it wasn't an all expenses paid cruise from Soundcore. Looks like there will be some interesting products in the pipeline from China soon😂
i was just a bit bored and fed up! youtubing reviews can get repetitive and boring really quick. And then add in all the negativity you have to deal with, it can be quite de-motivating.
i have a pair but its been disappointing. They say they are still tweaking it and give it a couple of weeks so i will wait to see if they can fix it. however they dont think it needs fixing, they are getting good feedback they tell me 🤷♂️🤦♀️
It won't give you deep bass and you are stuck with an upmixed top driver that kills the mix and horrendous overdrive but hey, go ahead fill yer boots 👌
the joke is that all those Soundcore fanboys were telling me soundcore fixed the x600 and it sounds better than ever. they are so deaf they cant hear its just the original eq 😂😂
2-3 years ago 😝 the mattress world is worse than the audio world for bullshit. I review a mattress one day and the next day they change the materials but keep the marketing so nobody knows what they are buying. I moved on 🤣
I think you are right, they have gone for lower quality but more marketing. However the boom 2 has not has the pre-marketing we have been seeing last year. Will be interesting if that means it's another disappointment or is actually decent.
@@alanrossreviews I have sold many speakers because I was not satisfied. I hope for a speaker that is not too big but has deep bass, good mid and treble. Middleton lacks good mid and treble, revolve plus 2 doesn't have deep bass
You kidding me? JBL lost my respect after they went Mono. I brought home JBL Charge 5 and all my songs sounded muddy and unbalanced. JBL is becoming another Apple. They want u to buy 2 speakers to get stereo which defeats the purpose of PORTABLE speaker!
@@ipaddleYOass there are arguments for and against this. ultimately it depends on how well either way is implemented. stereo for imaging but with a tiny soundstage or mono but cleaner with less potential distortion and better off axis dispersion. again imho it depends on what you prefer and how its implemented. perhaps your taste is on the bright side because personally i find the charge 5 pretty well balanced.
@@alanrossreviews fair enough, but i still prefer JBL Charge 3 over any of the new ones. Some details in the songs that im used to listening with Charge 3 is completely missing with the mono speakers. I just dont understand the need for JBL to fix something that is not broken.
sure, and the boom 2 but right now i cant get either. not to buy and not from the companies, i have tried. soundcore as you would guess just plain ignored me. JBL said no xtreme 4 in uk yet.
Pretty rambling voice... Maybe you need to new firmwire 2.0. With a neutral, flat frequency response. Maybe a speed stabilizer is also needed. I mean the way he talks😁In itself, it's funny that both audio men speak quite restlessly, Oluv and Alan. The speaking style of both would require a new, more neutral settings😁Maybe that's why they're looking for peace in the sound of the loudspeakers because their own voice doesn't have it. And the other man talks like a machine gun.
