India has no court system. The police, builder criminals, bureaucrats, and judges have a free hand to exploit people. Cases go on for decades. The solved cases are nothing but out-of-court settlements. None of this stops them from torturing. i have had enough of bribing corrupt politicians and bureaucrats in India. Bribing is the worst of the problems, but dealing with these bottom-of-the-barrel Corrupt cockroaches is repulsive
@@matthopper9637 i think chris meant that even if you're a celebrity no matter if you're rich or poor you're still the same as everybody when death knocks on your door you are not some godly figure who needs to be worshipped whether you're dead or alive.
Well said. Everything has changed in that regard. There are some fantastic bands out there, just a mouse click away. It helps if you have friends that have good taste in music lol.
It's all to do with society, not only were there thousands of great bands from the US in the 90's, there were thousands of great bands from the UK, Canada, Australia and most of the English speaking world.. (I say English speaking world as I tend to like songs in English) These days, i'm finding young rock bands lacking a certain something and everything beyond that is manufactured rubbish for teen consumption... Or the real problem... Which is most likely, i'm just getting old..
The band explained that the lyrics for "Jesus Christ Pose" concern the exploitation of religion for personal benefit. The song is a criticism of how public figures use religion (particularly the image of Jesus Christ) to portray themselves as being "better" than others, or as "martyrs". Chris Cornell specifically mentioned Jane's Addiction's frontman Perry Farrell as an influence on the song, explaining, "It became fashionable to be the sort of persecuted-deity guy. In an interview with Spin magazine in 1992, Cornell explained the term "Jesus Christ Pose":
I don`t know about being persecuted guy, being cool. Being a saved one is great though. Just sharing a message that was shared with me. Eternity matters. THis is how to be saved by GOd the Father/Jesus for eternity. GOspel of Grace. Faith plus nothing outside of this, for salvation. Believe sincerely from the heart, Jesus died on the cross for your sins, was buried and raised from the dead, and you will be saved. ANd nothing to maintain it. GOd/Jesus/Holy SPirit. will take care of the rest, after you sincerely believe. Romans 10;9-10 and 1 COrinthians 15 1-4 from the Word of God/Bible. Taught by our apostle in this age of Grace. Paul. AMen!!
What Chris Cornell isn't aware of though is that "Jesus Christ" is not the Messiah's name. Jesus is a pagan name from Greece, Iesous, which means "Hail Zeus". Anything with "sus" at the end means "Zeus". Any time someone says Jesus, they are hailing a false pagan "god", not the Messiah. Yahshua HaMashiach is the real name for our Master. Furthermore, a look into the Aramaic of scripture (the original language of The Father- not Greek as many believe) will tell us Yahshua was not crucified on a "cross", nor was He executed (the proper terminology) in that "pose" that Chris Cornell is talking about here, but Yahshua was executed on a stake with his hands together above his head and a nail was driven through BOTH wrists, not hands WRISTS. Same goes with the feet... a nail driven through both feet, not ankles, FEET. So Chris Cornell's song is an example of ignorance and Satan's deception even on his personal self and what he thought of as truth. I bet Chris Cornell didn't even truly understand a word of scripture, he probably knew what most of the world knows about man-made religions and false doctrines of men. This is why The Father gave us His OTIOT. The "bible" was not written in Greek or Latin, The Father's Name is not "God", our Messiah's name is not "Jesus", or "Lord". These are all lies from Satan that men made. I feel really sad for people who don't know The Word. I hope Chris Cornell got right with The Father before he left this earth but I don't know nor can I say anything about that. That's between him and The Father but I can say that those who love this world are not lovers of Elohim. --- 1 John (Yahchanan) 2:15.
Dannie Laird Christianity is a mish mash of what came before (incl Paganism / Wicca), so none of the above matters. There are 4,200 religions, and they can’t all be right, especially when they all claim to be the one and only ‘true path’. What matters is what we do here and now, to and with each other. If we lead good peaceful lives, ‘whatever’ lies beyond will judge us kindly, or not at all, either way 👍🏻😃
Ben Shepherd is truly one of the most underrated bassist. He wrote this song and others like Slaves and Bulldozers, Somewhere, Face Pollution, Head Down, Half and many songs on DOTU. The way he anchors himself into the song is like no other bassist...
Really underrated songwriter...Head Down, Zero Chance are among SG's best..did he write this one by himself though ? I remember the album's commentary saying something different..started with Ben's riff..
@@alwynsam5349He only wrote the riff, that's correct, Matt wrote his drum part, Kim wrote the guitar riff based on the bass riff, then Chris wrote the bridge and turnaround and the lyrics
Think he only contributed to most of those. Pretty sure he only wrote a few and they are mostly the really weird ones most people skip. But yea he’s a bad ass. The whole band is another level in their uniqueness and talent.
@@travis2950 Considering what this song is about, I wouldn’t be offended. He’s calling out public figures for pretending to be prosecuted like Christ. Or literally doing a “Jesus Christ Pose.”
Chris never wore a shirt because his voice would burn them away. It wasn't until later, he started buying heat resistant ones and the warmth of these shirts made his voice even better. True story.
My 5 fav singers 1: Chris Cornell 2: The soundgarden singer 3: the audioslave singer 4: the temple of the dog singer 5: the guy who sings You Know My Name (but I can't remember his name)
I miss so much Chris Cornell, and the guy to sing in Soundgarden, AND the guy to sing in Audioslave, and the guy to sing in Temple of the dog, AND .......
The way his singing is so steady while the music is so chaotic and unpredictable really makes listening to this song quite the experience. Definitely one of Soundgarden’s best.
Rocked my sister dide on the same day.melissa mcGoey karpelman.i miss you big sis more then life it self.ide take your place if i could.and i hope you and cris found haven together.love your lil bro mike
I remember when Bad Motor Finger came out, I had on cassette and I just kept turning it over and over in the car, blew me away. The whole Grunge era was a blessing to rock n' roll.
"Hi 911? Yes, I would like to report a brutal assault that is currently taking place." "Yes officer, I was just minding my own business when out of nowhere, Matt Cameron from Soundgarden starts beating the living fuck out of a drum set. It was intensely gruesome, and worst of all was that my kids witnessed it." Edit: It has been one year since the incident and i still shudder at night with the image of Matt brutally beating the poor drum set into submission. Rest in peace Chris. We had some great times together brother, from silently headbanging in my room at night, to blasting the stereo when nobody is home. Rest easy you bad motorfinger.
@@shahidullah5983 before the media artists begun doing Christs references all the time just as a "renegade" pose because It seemed cool. While others like Chris Cornell always had that soul of the real expression throught the music... For example, "Show me how to live", in Audioslave, is a yell to be identified with that screams "how is it possible, that im suppoused to be done by something, that wants me to be diferent from what im made with, and in the circumstances im made in. If there's that something somewhere, i want to know how shall i proceed, because i feel this nail inside my head and It makes me believe that there's a meaning in everything, but nothing seems to go anywhere"... Now that is a piece of art expression that reflects all those questioning, suffer and conflicted feelings... And then there's a band that just makes the singer dress like Jesus and headbang for example or recite stuff bout god and/or Satan, or maybe even just T-Pose... For example. Which apparently became quite popular in the rock scenary. Anyhow, dont take me wrong, some of them I really enjoy as well, and I find them genuinly cool and enterteining. Like: Misfits, Marilyn Manson, Slipknot, Ghost B.C,... But Chris Cornell, I find transcending.
THE most fabulous song and video from Soundgarden! Everything is just right. It's a perfect chaos, the 90s color scheme, Chris voice, the drive through out the whole song. And wonderfully metal in all the overload of grunge. AND.. Chris himself.. I cry, smile and delight, all at the same time. Jesus Christ, I miss him...
One of my favorite Soundgarden songs, it was more metal than alternative and could hold its own with bands like Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax, Slayer and Sepultura. They would always play Soundgarden on Headbangers Ball back in the day even though they’re not a metal band. Love the rest of the album, such a classic, R.I.P. Chris.
@@ricardovalderrama7895 i somewhat agree with you, man. Soundgarden and AIC were way too heavy to be rock, if i were to put them in a genre i'd say alternative metal, AIC had some sludge elements in their music too around the Tripod era
I dj on the high school radio, i played all grunge , metal and punk bands during our lunch. Friggen rocked back then in 91 and many , still shakes the walls of reality. Soundgarden and alice in chain where so perfectly loud and clean soundscapes . Those productions stand out from a lot of artist through the years just for the insane quality of sound. Add to that the mtv videos and no wonder they are the icons they are now. My 90s teen souvenirs live in these sound or vice versa. I hear this im teleported back
"If I write a song and put it out there, it's not mine anymore," he told CNN. "It takes on a life of its own, and when you listen to it, it becomes your song. And over the course of generations, those meanings will change." ~ Chris Cornell \m/
This is the song that made me a Soundgarden fan. It was the first time I was ever exposed to Soundgarden and it was the fall of 1991 and I was watching the video on MuchMusic up here in Canada and was in awe with this singers amazing voice. I was thinking that this was the coolest front man I'd ever seen for a band. I went out and bought the Badmotorfinger cassette and here we are almost 31 years later and they have been my favorite band ever since. RIP Chris Cornell you beautiful soul.
@@CinematicMaj I do also hate it when people over use under/overrated however in this case I think it's kinda fair, like Ben shepherd is not talked about that much compared to the rest of the band dispite him being a massive part of their sound
This record is absolutely on fire. I may say so - it is not only their best effort but is one of the best albums that has ever been recorded. At least in the universe of rock related music.
Ben and Matt’s rhythms on this track are so clean and tight. This is how you produce a hard track like this, where the drums and bass aren’t drowning out all of Kim’s subtle guitar nuances
I had a guy friend from school ride his bike over to my house to deliver me this single with Rusty Cage. It also came with a bonus VHS tape of the songs too! Such good memories of the 90's and been a fan ever since. RIP Chris and thank you!
Funny thing is that when Shepherd joined, his first audition in soundgarden as a bassist was awful, they didn't trust him that he could play the songs correctly.
SoundGarden is one of those bands that with RARELY exceptions ALL the members are top level musicians, just like the Beatles or PinkFloyd, where all the members were talented and multifaceted. The bassist (Ben Shepherd) is a monster, the drummer (Matt Cameron) is a killer, the guitarist (Kim Thayil) is breathtaking in the tuning and complexity of the riffs, and Cornell sings like a God of Olympus, as well as playing very well, it's a band that has everything in terms of music, composition, chords, sonority, it's like a classical music show where the Maestro is rock n roll.
FUCKING AWESOME!!! 💣❤ Today's music💩 doesn't even compare. Chris we miss you more every day.. Still hard to believe your not with us anymore. It gives me a little comfort to know that Chris and Chaz are together jamming out and happy.Truly a genious! You rock! YOU WILL LIVE ON FOREVER through your music and your fans..
@Lord Aäkenrez "Grunge" is not a musical style - it is a musical counter culture that channels the Pacific North West identity (i don't claim to hold the truth but it's my definition)
@Lord Aäkenrez i'm not - i'm not even American in fact - but i watched several documentaries especially Hype! The word grunge is mistakenly used. Btw the Seattle big 4 basically have obvious musical differencies that prooves it, but they still are grunge
@Lord of Misanthropy Soundgarden is grunge. Their sound was too dirty for metal and too heavy for punk. Mark Arm came up with that term because his band Green River lead the wave of bands that were forming in Seattle. Mark knew his band influenced Seattle along with The Melvins creating a subculture surrounding a dirty/heavy sound. Even Soundgarden's first 2 EPs Screaming Life& Fopp were mostly punk.
I think a lot of bands need to thank Chris Cornell for their careers. Without him this whole genre of music would never have been. I know it was always going to happen but I wish Chris Cornell was still here. I think the best of him was yet to come.
My mom was so in love with Chris! I was brought up listening to all his music! This was one of our favs. We get drunk sing this or rusty cage hahaha!! She had a huge poster of him on her wall that covered it almost and it stayed there until she died! I always hoped she got to meet him in heaven !!R.I.P. Chris and R.I.P. Mom!!
Dude i show this to my litle brother and i think he is doing the same.... i mean there is something white coming out of his mouth but i guess he realy likes it
We love you Chris. You are missed!!! You provided such thought evoking music. I hope you, Chester and Layne are scream singing up wherever we go next! You guys are the best ❤ forever legends and forever missed ❤
One of most menacing intros ever. Badmotorfinger was the first album I bought along with Nevermind and Apocalypse 91 after I was discharged from the Marines so long ago. This one stands the test of time.
THE SEXIEST MAN ON THE PLANET . . . So why, dear God, did he feel as he did . . . Why could no one help? Not even those who loved him so much? It's a question no one can answer . . .
@@sarahsaiano126 I think I can answer it...maybe he wanted to find the truth...he was looking for what we are all looking for...happiness/joy/bliss...he wanted to find a way out of his pain...but he couldn't find it...so he checked out...so now he'll have to try again his next time around...good luck chris.... basically , We are all spiritual beings deep within...thats why NOTHING in THIS world can truly satisfy us..don't you see? MONEY/SEX/DRUGS/FAME/POSSESSIONS can't satisfy us for very long...its a fake, temporary satisfaction....look at all the people who had ALL of that, and STILL committed suicide....Only true LOVE can satisfy us....pure unconditional love....and thats really hard to find in this world...but it IS possible....good luck finding it everyone.... Namaste.
Dragon Girl--no, but he thought was! And convincedd others as well-see Ritchie Blackmore, and yes, even his own self. He placed an order with Ritchie to use his wizardry to change his appearance to resemble some Layne Staley and Jerry Cantrell in his appearance and prove to the entire universe that he is far superior to them. Society ends up believing they are of equal terms with each other.
The first time I heard this song I was 14 years old in grade 9. A few close friends and I were tripping out of our minds on really strong green acid. We had just escaped a party full of jocks and normies, and gotten back to my friend Reagan's apartment. We started to collect our broken minds and managed to turn on his TV. This video came on MTV and took us all to another dimension. I still visit that place when I hear this song.
The song isn't about Jesus; he wrote it after seeing a televangelist posing like christ on the cross, begging for money and talking down to the audience as if he were some Saint.
breakingguitars Look, I read it in an article in the 90's, before they broke up. He specifically stated seeing a televangelist holding his hands up. I live in Seattle, I bought the album when it came out, saw them before they were huge, etc - this isn't me quoting a Wikipedia page.
Cornell had it all the looks, the voice the lyrics very underrated guitarist an icon a real musician his music will forever love on ! The best musicians leave this world from mental illness crazy . R.ip. legend!!!!
This fucking song.. I remember the first time listening to it back in the day (I'm 40) and during the lead up in the beginning the thought of "I'm about to get my ass kicked" crossed my mind... It didn't disappoint the moment Chris shredded into it with those fucking lungs of his.... This was the definitive Soundgarden song..
1.30 to when the vocal starts are for me some of the most perfect, energizing, awe inspiring, liberating and exciting bars of music I have ever heard....I saw Soundgarden a few times live and every time was close up front, wishing that those bars would never end, and the energy would flow for ever
This was the first song I heard sung by Chris. It was on either MTV or Much Music and I remember being both frightened by the visuals and the lyrics but when it was over I wanted to hear it again. RIP Chris
Stuart Yes! This was the first Soundgarden I heard, (it was on MTV2/M2) before I even knew or cared who they were I remember just being mesmerized by the video. Mostly because of Chris though. He changed my taste in men before I even got to appreciate his music.
What a voice, what a riff, what a drumming... what a freaking masterpiece of a song! When the mytical Soundgarden decided to experiment with thrash metal... R.I.P. Chris !!!
it's BETTER than most thrash b/c most thrash just sounds like a drum machine SPED UP. THIS tune has aggressive rhythms that are not a 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, sameness! More exciting!
Still a classic. I remember the first time they played this on Headbanger's Ball. I couldn't get this riff and his voice out of my head! I stayed up all night learning this on my guitar to play with my band at our next gig. He could right amazing songs that you couldn't get out of your head.
