Paddy Pads main purpose is as a fire barrier and its acoustical characteristics is secondary. I would still recommend using them for that reason.

Interesting, I will have to do some more research on that.

We are all learning new ways to do this. Including me.

I’d considered the same but realised the huge additional costs in building yet another wall system inside of the double wall system which is actually inside my prebuilt wall… heck thats mega overkill for my listening room 😂

Yeah it’s definitely a more costly choice for most budget studios.

I wondered about the same issue. Maybe it's an American thing that the power outlets have to be inside the wall (?), but I think that, especially for basement / garage type installations an on-the-wall power outlet would minimise the size of the opening drastically, similar to the lighting wire installation in the ceiling (where you want to avoid cutting big holes into the ceiling).

Can you recommend a book that shows how to build a acoustic walls like John Brandt design ? I've been looking for a book. No luck

True putty pads are primarily for maintaining a wall fire rating. That aspect is generally not needed in the scope of most people’s project studios as a wall fire rating will not be needed. You’re diagram on the conduits will include too many 90 degree bends. It will exceed code allowable and you may not be able to pull through the conduit.

Fair point, you may need to modify to adhere to codes and ease of getting it through.

Im actually thinking for my space ( one mixing/drum 10x15 ft room and a guitar closet 7x4 ft space) to just run a few select wires in for lighting duties and another circuit wire in for amp/hardware/console duties and then just running them on conduit outside on the walls / ceiling as they go to new sockets/ outlets. Acoustic panels are more cost effective then loading a wall and covering in fabric. An acoustic panel cloud with pot lighting built in can also be pretty great too.

Sounds like a fun project
