Sounds: Donnie interviewing John McLaughlin and Paco De Lucia (1983) 

Not to overstate the obvious, but for John to keep up with Paco in both phrasing and solos on a traditional flamenco tune (Chiquito) whilst playing with a pick is an incredible display of his of true genius. Both such gifted musicians!

Paco - represents so much. Revolutionised flamenco guitar. Helped push flamenco music in general to the forefront. Showed how important an audience is, playing better with audiences who really felt his music. All at a time of the Spanish transition to democracy. An essential part of its backdrop. The feelings are of love, respect and gratitude. RIP Paco.

Instant goosebumps I got to meet and speak with both these masters.... both humble as could be Al told me go speak to Paco sit with him yes sir so I did and Paco had just burned one B4 the show and told me how he learned from his father and brothers who were the real players he said.... they all came out and played un real great for hours ill never forget that.... R.I.P. Paco

Wow this is a treasure to see! '82 was around the time I first got exposed to McLaughlin and then Paco not long after. There's very few guitar players who move my soul as much as them. Though it really depends on the style of music..but to this day McLaughlin is still my favorite with Paco being up there as well in my personal top ten fave players. So wish Paco was still with us!! And I wish McLaughlin didn't retire lol but he's certainly earned it after a lifetime of playing the greatest guitar music the world has ever known! 🎸🎵🎶🙏
