So many Music Legends from Bristol and also so many more that studied at Bristol UWE, including Roisin Murphy - Moloko, 2 of the Banarama Girls, Roni SIze, Will Gregory of Goldfrapp, cannot off top of my Head think now but there are so so many, Bristol is truly a Music Legends City, I am a South of the City of Bristol Girl growing up in the 80's/90's when Music was just amazingly good.

Great stuff. Thanks for uploading. Pushing 60 in 2024 and hearing Tricky's "Maxinquaye" for the first time. I've known and listened to Massive Attack for years, and love it... it holds up. "Maxinquaye" is from another planet. On first listen, I found it nearly as disorienting as Brainticket's "Cottonwoodhill," which I respect, but I don't want to listen to it all the time, but after several listens of the Tricky album straight through, it has come together in my head and life as an absolutely essential platter of great strange music, better with each listen. I also love that "Mission Accomplished" EP... very different, high energy crunchy guitars fast beats... a bloody punk masterpiece in my mind.

I'm mad that none of the major "I Love the..." documentaries mention trip-hop despite using the music in their documentaries. And also Trip-hop songs have been used in many movies and TV shows in the 90s. They ignored a major music movement altogether.

OK. 3D aka Banksy that's for sure now, no doubt! ✌ (I love these guys, and BETH is the platonic love of my life... I'm so sorry she never gives interviews. Although somewhere this way is even more appealing in my eyes)💜
@Darrenski

It's been further confirmed now with the release of the early bbc Banksy interview were they called him Robert and he replies "it's robbie"... so street artist who uses stencilling and is definitely called Robert. I think we can put this one to bed now. I had kinda highly suspected it for a long time but this most recent find, or refound interview just finally settles it. No matter which bogus names they put forward I'm now 100% convinced. Even his stencil art has the exact same aesthetic as his great rival Banksy.

I agree about Beth as well. We can know sometimes too much about artists that they stop being artists and become celebrities. I like the mystery, I like her aloofness, which I believe is rooted mostly in nerves, but it still works

Robert Del Naja aka 3D of Massive Attack is definitely Bansky after seeing this video I definitely think its true not to mention all the other facts going around that align the two. The whole piece he painted in this documentary starting at 9:15 is very similar style and concept wise to all of Bansky's work. This is also one of the only videos Ive seen of Robert doing graffiti in the early days like this. Soon after this video was made Bansky emerged separating the two.

Idles are from Exeter and Ireland and posh little villages from the home counties. One of them is even a dentist... the one who thinks he's being super avant garde and subversive by wearing dresses when in reality hes just got a serious attention seeking issue . They're definitely not from Bristol. They might base themselves there now but its only cause of the kudos they think it brings. Plus I can't stand their overly woke virtue signalling bs. It's pure cringe.

+federico biscotti 2:45 Daddy G says: I think yeah when we were playing as a, you know, wild bunch sound system we used to sort of, you know, play anything really you know mainly sort of Jamaican music, was kind of, you know, the first start of it really, you know, sort of the reggae thing but, you know, since then we've incorporated loads of, you know, different influences from everywhere. Guy at 5:45 says: And that's kind of consistent, that sort of, you know, doubt over what it was that they have done. And I don't think there's any scandal there, I think it's just that the ways of new making music have changed, that you know, you do not need the things that you used to need. in that, in a sense what massive attack have got, their great weapon is their taste. they've got really good taste, and between them they cover different bases one of them Grant covers kind of reggae, soul, Mushroom was the hip hop, guy, Delge covers both of the others but also kind of punk, like rock and stuff like that.
