When I was a teenager, my dad and I traveled to Pittsburgh to watch the Braves versus the Pirates in the NLCS. When we entered the hotel the lady at the counter said, "the Soup Dragons are staying here today." So there were the fu(King Soup Dragons, hanging in the lobby. I've live in L.A. for the last twelve years, and I see celebs all the time everywhere, but when I was a kid that random encounter blew my mind.
90s was sick. I may have been too young to perhaps enjoy everything at the time, but i still remember most of it. Much better than the decade which followed it.... boring times. Lets go back to raving, moshing and groovin all night
I seem to remember that, at the time, I wasn't all that impressed that the Soup Dragons had gone all Primal Scream 'Bandwagon-esqe' in their style - but you can't deny this is a great pop song.
A great song by The Soup Dragons from their 1992 album "Hotwired, loved it when they played this awesome song in the awesome 1992 horror movie sequel "Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth".
I've been a little disappointed in myself lately, getting out of being such a music fanatic. Now I realize it's cause the music that's on the radio today sucks. Even in the 90's the music on the radio was MOSTLY fantastic and had some originality. Now people just copy, copy, out right plagerize, steal, copy... blah blah blah... This is good music. Miss the 80's and 90's.
And man, if you think it hurt when you made this comment, consider this: RU-vid, 2011. Commenting on college videos from 20 years ago... that was 10 years ago.
This came out early '92. I remember it being *the* hot song on the radio, that summer. There was another, lesser-known group from Seattle, that released _Smells Like Teen Spirit_ that same year. Guess which one ended up winning the 1992 MTV Music Video Award for best Alternative Rock song?
Man, I loved this when it came out. Actually, as I recall, most of the rest of this whole album was really good. I bought it for this song, and was surprised by the rest of it. Thumbs up for yet another awesome Scottish band!
All the kids here saying they sound like INXS only have INXS as a reference point because of their reality talent show and don't realize that this was the 90s sound. Now go Google School of Fish 'Three Strange Days', you young grasshoppers.
They were my first ticketed concert. Saw them getting on the bus afterwards and told the singer 'good show.' He said "thanks," and THAT'S exactly when young me realized they were a U.K. band. lol
You are the one supreme being, Just dressed to kill and fulfill just any dream. And you are the one heart's desire All hips and lips made to trick just any fool. I could have sworn that you are an angel Cause you're a sweet, sweet, sweet divine thing. But I should have known that you are the devil Dressed like a sweet, sweet, sweet divine thing. And you lack the one thing that is devotion Not always there in your hair in a daze. Just too mixed up in your own emotions; Your vanity will always be your greatest thing. I could have sworn that you are an angel Cause you're a sweet, sweet, sweet divine thing. But I should have known that you are the devil Dressed like a sweet, sweet, sweet divine thing. Divine thing, yeah Divine thing.
This was one of the best alternative rock bands of the 1990s :) a litle of soulful American blues Black Crowes + British alt punk garage stuff of Primal Scream , Lush, Elastica , Jesus Jones yep good stuff from the original 90s ( full of punks, angst and GENERATION X ) :)
@jetsonic69: I was about 12 when this song came out and was going to school in India. This was around the time that satellite tv was just getting going over there and we were suddenly inundated with MTV and Channel V. I think this was the first video I really loved!
Yeah, dude, totally. I remember when this song was fresh-new. I had just moved to the US when the Soup Dragons released this. The grunge era was great, but the pre-Nirvana 90s were good too, and this is a good example.
this song IS awesome!! i actually happened to catch them do this song on Letterman or some other late nite show in '92... he had a beanie hat on & was totally pulling off the grunge look. I still have it on VHS somewhere, hah.
They toured with INXS on a world tour back in the day, I actually know a couple of guys in the band Sean and Paul, and they said INXS were brilliant with them on tour.
Man, I have ALWAYS loved this song!!! I've been trying to download/buy the song..CAN'T FIND IT FOR SALE On iTunes..never thought about listening to it here on RU-vid! :-s
