Souptember 2022! Crock pot split pea soup  

When I first started dating ⁸my husband he invited my young daughter and I over for dinner one Sunday after church. It was winter time so he made split pea soup and eggnog. The soup he made super thick! It was like he had just mashed a can of peas. The eggnog he added about a tablespoon of nutmeg to and I can't stand nutmeg!! But I tried my best to down that meal! Now 39 years and 7 more children we still laugh about the night daddy tried to impress mommy with nutmeg and peas!! We do love split pea soup and yours looks so much better than his did I promise ill give it a try!!

I don't like split pea soup butmy neighbor does so I am making her some because she is always dong something for me & this will be a nice treat for her family. Thanks for sharing with us. Give your little one a big hug & kiss for me. Blessings.

I am amazed by how little meat is needed to make a great tasting dish. I came from a family where meat was scarce. The peas give it all the protein it needs. I like the ease of this recipe.

Who doesn't love a good crockpot soup! Man your soup looks so good. I agree with you so much about the ham bone. I save the bones from everything. I have a fridge in the garage and I have dedicated the freezer on it to my bone yard.

My mother was not fond of peas so she did not serve them when I was a growing up. I am trying to encorporate them into my menus now. My family seems to really like them!!!! Thank you for this recipe!!!
