there was another theory that said that she was also telling us if we were okay after listening to a heartbreaking album, but the lgbt theory makes more sense lol
1 step forward 3 steps back has tswift and jack antonoff in the credits bc it was interpolated from new years day! not sampled. it's important that she interpolated it bc that means they asked permission from the original songwriters (taylor & jack) but she played the piano on her own so sc00ter didnt get any money off of it!
Shes talking to her producer Dan at the end. Hes says something like "is something wrong with the record?" and she replies "Everything is wrong with the record". Then Dan goes "should we start over?" and liv laughs and says "ya lets start over"...Something along those lines. I had to max out my volume to hear
@@aaeron5519 IMO, it's not better per se. But music do change and gets an upgrade mainly because the artists nowadays get their inspiration from music in the past and polish them. Also technology and stuff plays a big role in the production. my point is let's not make a comparison because there are great and colossal pop girl debuts in the past with both commercial and critical acclaim in their bags. Let's just hope the Olivia will be one of those artists and I believe she will prove the test of time :>>
my thought about "hope ur ok" is that the two people mentioned are the *two real friends* that Olivia was referring to "brutal", and it connects the first and last song of the album which is a nice touch for me. just a little theory...
I think the “two real friends” she was referring to in "brutal" were madison and iris (her best friends irl) but in hope ur ok I think she was referring to friends she had in middle school because she did say “I miss u, hope ur ok” - she mentions how she parted ways with those friends however she still loves them and hopes they’re okay x

for me the highlight of this album is the lyrics, the story that she is telling on every song. i think the sound needs to grow on me i little bit, but overall its such an amazing debut album! my top 5 is: good 4 you; jealousy, jealousy; drivers license; brutal & happier

She’s giving versatility, she’s giving ballads and bangers and midtempo and bops, she’s giving Taylor Swift sampling and the writing is top tier. The lyrics, the beat, her voice, the production beyond gold. Everything is pure perfection and "hope ur ok" also "traitor" wow that was outstanding, I am speechless. Anyways, go stream the album!

i believe the muffled voices at the end of the album are liv and dan talking about the album and liv says something like “is there something wrong with the record?” and dan says “there’s nothing wrong with the record” and liv says “everything’s wrong with the record” and dan says “okay let’s start over then” or something along those lines
The end of hope ur OK is like the beggining of drivers lisence but the car is turning off now and it's so sweet coz it's like the end coz it all started with the beggining of drivers lisence when the car is turning on 🥺
I got similar vibes with hope ur ok and the story. But Conan grew up in a small town in Texas meanwhile Olivia grew up in California. But in the beginning she talks about the boy being blonde so I don’t think it’s referencing that. But they both do sound similar. They both made me cry 😭

i'm pretty sure she said hope ur ok is about people she's met before or her old friends and she only met conan recently so it is kind of a stretch to say it's a connection.
I thought when I heard drivers' license that this would be a one hit wonder and that she would have a boring album full of only ballads, I couldn't have been more wrong, I love her music so much that I am watching lots of reactions to it and to her good 4u video 🤣 I also love her song "the rose". She is a great songwriter, awesome singer and very versatile, I cannot believe she is so talented at her age!

This is just my interpretation, but "hope ur ok" seemed more like she was talking about her past friends dealing with homophobic and abusive parents, but idk. Also, just a little note since you mentioned Demi Lovato. They recently came out as nonbinary and their pronouns are they/them. Great reaction btw!!
