I was just about to buy a True Spring in the past couple days, but I have been hesitant because the lack of midi control when it seemed so close to being capable of it with the neuro editor made it seem a bit unappealing. Then you guys release this, and now it's a surefire purchase. Way to go!
Hi there ! using that adapter with an After Sock, it works but : - the TRS-DiN cable coming with it , fine ! but it's female DiN so it can't plug directly in a midi master pedal. Boss cable TRS-DiN (male) does the job (had one fortunately) - The MiDi command for CC messages are fine as explained in 7:40 - The Midi command PC messages that change preset as on the right side of the screen at 7:50 are a bit weird on my After Shock that have only 6 entries. PC will be setup 0 to 5 . Then 0 is the 4th in the list, 1, the 5th and 2 the 6Th, then 3 the 1st, 4 the 2nd and 5 the 3rd, a bit confusing but works fine.
The one flaw about this midi adapter is that it should be a 5 pin din male so that it could be connected directly to midi foot switch controllers like the Soleman or DMC.mirco Pro, both of which seem to have 5 pin midi female inserts.
@sourceaudio will this work with a properly wired TRS cable instead of a 5 pin DIN? I'd love to be able to do this with a True Spring, but instead of using a giant 5 pin DIN connector use a TRS cable hooked up to my Morningstar MIDI Box.
@@keatonrobinson2970 they replied to an email I sent a earlier this year, which said: “Yes, trs midi into the adapter will work, just make sure the morning star is set to type A trs midi and it should work.” But you’ll still need the adapter. I tried using the MC6 Pro’s USB host and that wouldn’t work either, so I bought the adapter. Haven’t tried it yet, but I see no reason it shouldn’t work.
Can't wait to put this on my pedalboard to control my C4 instead of the other USB Midi Host that doesn't have midi through. The output of this Midi Adapter is just a regular midi signal right? So I can hook it up other brand's products.
how did they scroll thru 128 presets before this new adapter? the Morning star controller has 1/8 jacks so its seems like I might not need this adapter if I have a Morningstar controller? new to midi user here.
HI! My official Source Audio midi adapter starts blinking as soon as I connect it to the C4 pedal, even without any midi controller connected on the other side of the cable, is this normal? In any case, I couldn't get it to work with my midi controller, I checked all the details. Thanks in advance
I don't think so. I tried both a 1/4" to 3.5mm TRS and a 1/4" TRS to DIN to the included DIN adapter from an MC8 omniport and I think neither worked because the adapter is probably powered via 5 pin. It works perfectly with a DIN.
@@sjmtap6 I never did find out. Ended up selling it as even though it had great sounds, the usability of it in a live setting wa horrendous. Got a HX Stomp XL now which is much better.
I found that out too that in a live setting the C4 puts out massive and potentially destructive dynamics. But I tamed mine and bought few things to save speakers and ears.
I have a morning star going to collider five pin. I want to buy the ultra wave. Can I just use a TRRS cable from the collider to ultra wave, for full midi capability, and not have to buy this?
You should be good as you are. The Disaster Area Micro is a fairly unique MIDI controller because it has USB host capabilities, so it can be used with the C4's USB port. The MIDI Adapter is necessary for most standard MIDI controllers.
@@sourceaudioeffects The MIDI adapter might free up the USB port so you can connect to a computer to edit C4 presets while the DMC micro is still connected. This would be helpful for tweaking presets that use an expression pedal through the DMC, as well as saving some wear and tear on the USB jack.
@@sourceaudioeffects Also, the MIDI Adapter connection is a little more robust than the USB connection. It can handle more simultaneous CC messages and does better with MIDI clock.
I'm using the one control crocodile tail loop 10 along with the one control crocEye for full control midi capability. How will I need to connect the vertigo pedal? I'm currently using 5 pin midi cables in this order, one control crocodile to crocEye to nemesis to free the tone reverb.
Typically, if not always, presets on midi controllable pedals are stored as a program change (PC) message, which means this would make presets a selectable option via the morningstar, or any programmable midi controller. Therefore, I don't think scrolling would be the only option. I don't have an SA pedal yet (going to get a True Spring now that this adaptor is released), so I can't be 100%, but I doubt they would give you MIDI control without PC messages being assigned to presets!
What wasn't clear to me is how you assign a PC # to one of the stored presets. You showed CC messages in detail, but not PC messages. I just purchased the Gemini, and the manual doesn't describe it either.
I just now discovered these One Series pedals exist. Holy smokes! The C4?!!! Muh Hed Jus Asploded. LMAO! I absolutely MUST get my hands/feet/ears upon these brilliant devices. Cheers! Is this the new gadget you guys were on about to control the C4 pedal? If so... This is massively disappointing as you still need to buy another pedal. Why not just release a box with two buttons on it to scroll up and down?
In all fairness, that's not a good idea from a commercial standpoint. Most guys want to do more than just scroll up and down. Most guys are using more complex Midi control systems. If they made a box with two buttons that just scroll up and down, they would sell two of them and one of them is going to be to you. When people suggest things it's important to understand what the majority of the market uses and not just about your exclusive type of use.
@@RallyWays You can do plenty of complex stuff. You just organise all your sounds for your set list in order. Simply scroll up them as you move through the set. simple. And way better than spending hundreds of yet another pedal to make the C4 usable. I sold mine a month or two after getting it. Great sounds but it was unusable in a live setting.
@@RallyWays and really the sensible thing to do would have been to have release it as a larger pedal in the first place. The design of the C4 is awful.
@@cjlister8508 Dude, you're complaining about something as if you weren't a guitarist. Are you a guitarist? Because you need to understand the culture. Getting ANY super deep pedal is going to be limited if you don't have a proper MIDI controller to go along with it. This isn't new. This isn't a Source Audio only thing. Strymon, Walrus Audio, Empress. The whole lot. Not everyone likes or wants large pedals. Heck, even Strymon started releasing smaller stuff with Midi control (Cloudburst) because not everyone wants a giant pedal... because A LOT of us use MIDI controller. You want to freeze the audio on the Cloudburst? You're going to need either an extra switch or a midi controller because the pedal is too small to have two buttons. Get out of your "ME" attitude and understand that the market is much larger than just you. You sold the C4 because it wasn't for you? Great. But you're not everyone.
@@RallyWays well, I'm a bassplayer and interested in the C4 as well but to buy an extra midi pedal to unlock the 128 presets? I too would like to see at least an extra button or a exp input just like the HX One so we can scroll through the presets. You're almost better off with a multi fx pedal then.
It does what this small module does but for 5 SA pedals. It can also set up scenes for up to 5 SA pedals. I only have 1 SA pedal, I dont need the hub. I need this.
Useless with l.a.lady, 40 top quality sound with 3 midi preset. Like a Lamborghini with no wheels. Bought and sold immediately. Road to hell are paved with good intentions
it's not addressed in the video, but it doesn't work. You need to go through this interface. Pedal does so much, i guess it is a big ask for it to be such a simple connection. @@thesucculentcity
