South Africa: ANC Loses Majority, Gets 40% Vote; 30-Year Dominance Ends | Firstpost Africa
Winds of change are sweeping South Africa as the people of the country deliver a historic electoral verdict. The African National Congress has witnessed its worst election result since the end of apartheid. There has been a catastrophic drop in votes for the ANC in the 2024 general election. The ANC has received around 40% of the national vote and has lost its three-decade-old absolute majority. The Democratic Alliance will be the second-largest party in the national assembly with a 21.7% vote. Former President Jacob Zuma's MK party stood third with 14.59% votes. Julius Malema's EFF received around 9.5% votes. Watch this video for details.

DA ( the only large party which is pro Israel ) got marginally less votes this year.... ( From 22% to 21.7 ) ANC split into ANC & MK ( with EFF being an earlier offshoot ). All three remain Pro Palestinian Liberation of all people remains ideologically important to South Africans.... ( All African parties who have partnered with the DA, in a multi party coalition lost more than half of their votes..... )

People are misreading this election. MK is the Zuma part of the ANZ and it has split off. So now we have three ANC's with slightly different flavors ANC MK and EFF. In other words, nothing has changed, other than things are much worse because now the corrupt Zuma, who thru a South African miracle is not in jail, is back in the game as a player. And, even tho' South African voters don't seem to know it, Zuma being back in the game is the ABSOLUTE WORST thing that can happen to South Africa - corruption squared.

Logically, when a ruling party becomes arrogant and complacent, regardless of incompetence and corruption, eventually they will lose support. Also, MK should take their surprising win and move on. But most important, is not their selfish individual power but what they can do for the people. There's work to be done, on unemployment, poverty, infrastructure, education etc. so just do the work and prove you are worthy of support, whoever you are!! Simple. We, the people, are waiting to see and willing to help.

The ANC did not lose its majority, it just split into two. Between the MK party and the ANC, they still have more than 50% of the votes. What the ANC has to do is to get rid of Ramaphosa, find a candidate who will bring the MK party and its Zulu base back into the fold. Otherwise the country will be ungovernable for years to come.
