South Africa: ANC Loses Majority, Gets 40% Vote; 30-Year Dominance Ends | Firstpost Africa
Winds of change are sweeping South Africa as the people of the country deliver a historic electoral verdict. The African National Congress has witnessed its worst election result since the end of apartheid. There has been a catastrophic drop in votes for the ANC in the 2024 general election. The ANC has received around 40% of the national vote and has lost its three-decade-old absolute majority. The Democratic Alliance will be the second-largest party in the national assembly with a 21.7% vote. Former President Jacob Zuma's MK party stood third with 14.59% votes.
