Durban is the city I have always wanted to live in. Voted as the best city to stay and raise family in INTERNATIONALLY for seven years up to 2019. Indeed. Just the city alone without going outside to Umhlanga is enough to give life to anyone, not just night clubbing folk, but everyone every economic level. And I mean besides the Beach. The fusion of Zulu, Indian, English and Dutch-Afrikaans cultures. Great education high school and tertiary. Friendliest South Africans who are very humble and very beautiful. Durban is best.

I love this so much! It's important to balance all the bad PR that's being propagated to the West. All of that is happening and what you're viewing is also our norm. I'm a young doctor from Cape Town and moved to Durban last year, and that's literally the life that I live. You have different life experiences and socio-economic statuses in any part of the world. Imagine showing the world only the rough parts of Detroit and Chicago, and then concluding that's solely what the USA is. A holistic, nuanced view of any culture is imperative.

I can't even believe that "green" is an arguing point. LOL. I have been to South Africa twice, but the most vivid green I have seen was on vacation in Brazil years ago. I booked an Amazon jungle tour from the city of Manaus. Literally the oxygen factory of the planet, whereby 60% of the world's oxygen is produced. The greenery and smells where overwhelming, to say the least.

For our American friends, you can compare the Durban July to the Kentucky Derby. It's also a fashion show and big party 😁 One fun fact, it used to be called the Rothmans July. Since 2001, with the banning of cigarette advertising, the festival has been known as Durban July. Depending on the sponsor, the company name will be added as a prefix.

There is so much to do. It's a melting pot of many cultures who by-in-large live in peace. I would caution you to not come to SA with an idealistic Africanist/Traditionalist expectation because you might be disappointed. Yes a big part of the black population subscribes to cultural practices, such as the veneration of ancestors, consultation with traditional shamans and tribal custom. But in reality, as a whole and for better or worse, we are striving for modernity across the board (whether in public administration, business or the personal-private sphere) to the extent that some black folk when looking from the outside might consider us to be too westernized. We have elected to borrow the best practices and systems from the rest of the world and where possible we modify them or innovate to suit our particular preferences and needs. Those from the diaspora who can accept this about us, want to be part of what we're building and share the vision of the society we are striving to achieve will love it here and are more than welcome. SA has it's challenges but I am convinced that there is no better place on the planet for the black person. There is literally no ceiling to what you can achieve here, even more so when you consider the country as a spring board for exploiting the business and developmental opportunities that SADC and the rest of the continent offers. Every day, month and year ordinary black South Africans are achieving things that are simply out of reach for black folks anywhere else. Black South Africans, quite literally, are achieving, within one generation, what took white South Africans 400 years to achieve. Where else in the world is that possible without leveraging proximity to political power or excelling in entertainment and sports? My wife and I are so bullish about SA's prospects that we have decided against relocating to England. I have set out all of the above so that yourself and those that you intend to broach the prospect of moving to SA with have some basic understanding of what SA is about and what we are striving for. Anyway, cheers bro. Happy that you are liking what you see from these videos. Some, to my surprise, find SA to be abhorrent.

@Bougie Barb yes truth is very few South Africans are originally from SA. Most black people migrated from up Africa and came to SA. Its the biggest proven migration of a large I mean large number of people (Kind of sounds like the bibles' exodus right?). They all settled in different parts of Southern Africa and formed what we call the Ngunis (Zulu, Xhosa, Ndebele etc.) So yes maybe your ancestors are from Ghana, but just know most people who are in today's SA are originally also from all over, Africa. They just migrated prompted by what we don't know, and settled in the promised land! Another thought, you don't need to be exactly from here, every day Europeans relocate to Africa, buying land and settling here, no one asks them questions, so if they can do it what should keep African Americans, they have more claim to the continent!

Hey Blantons, here's to another great video 🥂. Another great fact worth mentioning about Durban to those who will be visiting from the diaspora; there's a massive Indian population there, whose descendants were brought in from India by ships as indentured labourers (by the colonialists) towards the end of the nineteenth century. This has added an oriental touch to the diverse cultures in the region, particularly on things like local lingo, cuisine, architecture et al.

Nowhere else on the planet has that particular vibe, maybe trinidad and tobago is a bit comparable. I also love Durban. The nicest friendliest people in SA. The only downside is the safety issue and central city area looks a bit dilapidated. On my first visit I was awestruck by the much greenery you can see it from the plane window. It looks almost surrealistic.

Yes she did. I struggle to explain that sound to outsiders, best I can do I just say it sounds like the crackle and pop of a Soda when pouring it into a glass😂...I just cant find a good example to explain the sound

Durban is probably the best place you can be in year-round if you're in South Africa and don't have too much of an issue with the heat in the summer. The video is awesome. Shout out to ya'll for reppin' the south and my home city. We got a lot of traffic circles so I guess its a good thing I gave ya'll a heads up about how to approach them in the last video ;) Keep up the good work!

This was great. I hope you get to some of the coastal towns in KZN as well as in the Midlands. Even different sections of Durban would be nice. A lot of South Africans in the area visit and vacation in Mozambique as well.
