South Africa has a new official language: sign language.
For more than 4 million people who are deaf or hard of hearing, there are hopes this recognition will make services more accessible.
Sign language is the country’s 12th official language, alongside Zulu, English and others.
But many believe it will take time before new policies will adequately benefit the country's deaf community.
