My maternal Grandfather used to drive these in NSW AUSTRALIA, this old girl has some serious steam leaks.

There are so many steam leaks on that loco that shouldn't be there. Obviously the fitters didn't tend to all the necessary areas

That locomotive leaked badly.That I think made it perform as badly as it leaked.

Never could understand why no Garratts were tried on the W side of the "pond." Seems to me that a big 300 psi Garratt with compound expansion would have many advantages over Mallets. Beyer-Peacock licensing fees?
