South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster evacuated the entire South Carolina coast as the state prepares for a possible landfall from Hurricane Florence.
This crew has one of the best response plans I have seen in the past several years. The transportation segment presentation was amazing discussing lane reversals and diversions.
May everyone band together to help their neighbors and share what they have with those in need. Please check on the elderly and others who need extra help.

If your directly on the coast I would highly suggest evacuating. Everyone I know made a joke out of Irma and we all say there and enjoyed but we’re not directly on the coast. Please stay safe!!
Teresa Blanco luckily I’m in central Florida a little off the coast so it wasn’t that bad. It was about two weeks without power. But I’m so sorry to hear about that. These hurricanes are no joke!
woof. were they there for Hugo? if so, remind them of how awful and devastating Hugo was. This storm is going to be worse. Mandatory evacuation means that if something bad happens, if y'all get hurt or stuck without resources, the state is *not* coming for you. They do not respond to emergency calls in mandatory evacuation zones, because they told y'all to get out and y'all didn't listen. Water, power, gas, all of it is going to be down for god knows how long. There will be debris and disgusting, dirty, dangerous water (the sewers will back-up, don't forget), live power lines, maybe gas leaks. Maybe dangerous animals. I pray y'all stay safe and I really hope your parents grasp how serious this is. Better to leave and be annoyed and safe than to risk death by staying.
What a blessing to have warning and be prepared. So many in the past had no warning. Evacuation centers usually do not allow animals/pets so be prepared to care for your fur babies and reptiles on your own. Animal shelters fill up fast so call ahead of time and see if they are willing to take your pet in temporarily while you are at an evacuation center. Praying for safety and peace of mind for those affected.
Wow, WHO is she?! I have just watched this 3 times just to watch her talk with her hands. She's amazing, graceful, thorough, perfect and I know all about the evacuation now.

We will have some rest areas and weigh stations open for sheltering in place, if needed; that should not be happening, though. All Commercial Traffic be diverted along with Public up to Columbia or Greenville.
Wanda Faulconer my dads a truck driver and we live in SC it’s a good thing he’s getting his truck fixed but won’t get it back till next week so he’ll be evacuating with us
That would be a hard decision to make maybe your family could get out and you meet up with them all I can say is pray & get the answers from God I no he has led me the right way so my thoughts are with you and your family
Category 1= Hurricane Party in a safe building. Category 2= Seriously consider evacuating. Category 3= Prepare to evacuate if ordered. Category 4= Evacuate even before evacuation order. Category 5= RUN.

A few things to consider if driving in bad weather/potential floods, take enough water, ready to eat food and medication for 2 days in case you get stranded. A small knife/multitool at hand for cutting seatbelts and breaking windows. $$$ & ID.
C.James.Cornwalll all good advice, though if possible it would be better to bring needed Rx meds for at least a week as med access, refills, etc as some may have to stay away & it will not be easy to obtain right away. On that note having a copy of any prescriptions is also a good idea & can make things far easier for anyone who has to stay away from home long enough to need to replenish...
At 3:46 on, what did he mean by executive order to move people out of the way and by what means??? What people is he referring too and aren't those the ones trying to flee? Who is he making room for???
He’s simply referring to clearing/ alleviating some regular/ local traffic in the more inland areas to make travel easier/ less congested for the large numbers evacuating. For instance in non- evacuation zones they may close some highway entrances to prevent local traffic from adding to the evacuation traffic. The executive order he referenced most likely simply allows for the appropriate people, ie police, highway/ transportation management, etc, to make these types of decisions as needed without the same process, aka red tape, that would generally be required. Hope that helps to clarify a bit!
