It is good to see that a few people can find "gold in dem thar hills" with the price gold now days it is worth the effort to search for it. Thanks for the video & I hope you guys are able to be profitable.
I did an internet search for gold in KY and came up with not much. Could be some near the border of KY and southern Ohio but it would be only small glacial deposits. Give it a try. Gold is not always where it is supposed to be. Good luck. I hope you find some. Thanks for watching!
The fall line is how far up the ocean covered the state at various times. You can actually find sharks teeth in Columbia, SC and Columbia is a long way from the coast. Thanks for watching. Hope you find great gold in your pans.
Both Carolina's and Georgia have good gold as does a few places in Virginia. Too bad the whole eastern US is on private or state owned land. If I could only go back in time and know what I do now...! Thanks for watching.
Found a little gold up your way, Cj but mostly fly poop specks. I am usually looking for rocks when I head to Western NC. Check any creeks you can gain access to. You never can tell when you find a great place to prospect. Sometimes gold is where it isn't supposed or known to be. Wish I could be of more help. Thanks for watching and good luck.
This a hobby only. Very few can make a living doing this on a recrational basis. I clean up mold and asbestos for a living. I agree, it would be great to make a living this way. Thanks for watching.
Stick with the pan at first. A shovel, pan and 5 gallon bucket are still my primary prospecting tools. Master the panning and if you find gold, then move up to a sluice. If you have little water flow I wouldn't buy the bazooka but would go with a cheaper LeTrap or something like that. Good luck and remember us if you strike it rich!
@Kyuto00009 Thank you for commenting, Jeff. We started shooting using multi-cams, as usual, but I got gold fever and left the rest of the shooting up to Tena. Fewer cut aways but she did a great job.
Please do. I went out today and checked out a new place. Didn't find much but found some. Doesn't matter. It was a great day exploring. Looking forward to your new videos.
As always a great video and loved the black pan at the end. This is what I do also find with a gold pan then run for my sluice. Wish I could go out with you guys so cool and fun times cheers Ray
It's often hard to put a price on one piece. It depends on how large it is, how much character or how unique it is. Specimen pieces usually sell for more than the spot price of gold which is over $1400 per troy ounce. Thanks for watching.
Find any rocky creek you can access with permission and give it a try. I often find gold where it shouldn't be and don't find it where it should. Don't know of any in WV but I think WV has fossils. Should be worth checking in to. Thanks for watching.
Don't have a clue. We never really thought to weigh the gold. In future gold videos, we will weigh the take and put it in the video. Thanks for watching and good luck with your prospecting.
Not sure how I missed this post. I apologize. I don't use a metal detector for gold so I don't feel qualified to recommend one. Wish I could help. We miss Danny too. More videos are on the way. Thanks for watching.
Each landowner is different. It's usually some kind of share or exchange for something else. For instance..I dig in your creek and you fish in my pond. Links are great. Good luck with the magazine.
you guys are living the dream, when I got out, it is mostly an hour or two (because I depend on others for a ride) and I'm lucky to find 6 colors for all my hard work. Keep giving guys like me hope lol
Thanks for watching, Jon. Sometimes we don't find any gold either. Just have to keep trying. If you are finding any gold, keep sampling the creek. There is probably a honey hole or pay streak somewhere. Don't give up! Good luck.
Great idea on that snuffer bottle. I will give it a try next time on a creek. Sorry to hear about your neck. I hope you recover and can get back to dredging again. Thanks for the idea and for leaving a comment.
Great stuff. You folks look like your having a blast. I live on the waters of superior with thousands of inland rivers. I would love to do this for fun. Thanks for taking the time to share this.
Great camera work! It's amazing what a steady camera can do for the video, instead of jumping all over the place. AND kudo's on finding the gold... this could easily turn out to be quite interesting... Let's see more!
Tom, that area has gold. Some creeks are better than others so if you don't do well in one, try another. Good luck and let us know if you strike it rich!
Just grab a shovel and pan, and start checking rivers and creeks. Be sure to get permission from land owners first. Take a 5 gallon bucket too and throw your black sands in it to pan later at home. Cheap and easy to get started. A shovel and pan are still my main prospecting tools. Good luck.
Just bought me some mountain land near Landrum upstate SC...found a little gold and alot of birdshot last year in my preliminary prospecting...looking forward to continuing this spring...Happy Hunting all ty for the informative video....
You are just a little bit north of the gold, Joshua, but I have found a little in your area. Look in rocky creeks with lots of quartz. Sandy creeks generally don't have much. Good luck. Hope you find some awesome gold.
I agree. cordelmar. When we first visited that creek several years ago, we could jump across it. Floods have washed the banks and bottom away so much we hardly recognize it. New development, parking lots, shopping centers and redirecting water flow have done more changes to this creek than any amount of occassional recreational gold prospecting ever can. Thanks for your comment.
I don't recall what was in the last pan but panning and sluicing may return about $35-75 per day. Dredging brings in more as you move more material. Recreational prospecting will not make you a living, at least in most places. The gold is very pure in this creek. Over 95% gold and also contains copper and silver. Big flakes and pickers may sell for more that the spot price of pure refined gold. Dust brings about 80-85% spot value, depending on who is buying. Approach it as a hobby. Thanks!
don't take bull from anyone you guys are great i just started at 65 and if i was 21 i would still learn a lot from you saw all and will order soon from pa. going south in the spring i do fabracition if you need somthing i do part time now
The green rock in the intro is emeralds in matrix. That was found in Spruce Pine, NC at the Crabtree emerald mine. Lots of great rocks in the Carolina's. Thanks for watching, Jeff.
I suspect there may be glacial gold in Wisconsin. Try a Google search for gold in your state. Michigan has glacial gold so I guess you will have some too. Thanks for watching and good luck with the prospecting.
You can never shake it too rough. The better the action the quicker and better you stratify the material. This gets the heavies to the bottom of the pan. Keeping the pan with lots of water in it also keeps the material "fluid" so it will stratify. A dredge does the same kind of action only much harder and faster than you could ever do panning. We appreciate you watching and leaving a comment. Thanks!
@mydog61 Thank you mydog61. We really appreciate great comments. Keeps us motivated to do more. We will post videos of the dredging as soon as we are able to stand that cold mountain water!
Not 99% but over 98% according to assay. We have some really pure gold. More pure than most of the other states and much more pure than many. Thank you for watching.
You can pan in most national parks but not usually in any state park. City parks or property varies. You will have to check the local laws. Good luck. I hope you find a great place to play.
Thanks for the idea on the scoop. Actually, it's often hard to dig even with a shovel. The more hard packed the material is, the better the chance that someone hasn't dug there before. Thanks for watching. Hope you can find some gold of your own.
@Computert3ch Great! Color is a great find. It doesn't take much goldmto make me happy either. The adventure is as much fun as finding the gold. Good luck with your prospecting.
You will never get rich panning for gold. It is a hobby and I often don't even pay for my gas. The gold can be sold on the internet or most gold buyers and jewelry stores are anxious to buy it. Good luck with your prospecting and thanks for watching.
We started dredging Creek 5 a few days ago. Got a late start but found some amazing gold. The new video should be up in a few weeks. Need to shoot a little more video and do the clean up. Hope you will stick with us. We think it will be a great video. Thanks for watching, subscribing and leaving a comment!
I'm new to panning. I was just at a creek today in Cherokee County, SC. Only found a few flakes for the couple hours I spent there. I guess I've still got a lot to learn. Anyways, I've been enjoying a lot of your videos and getting some great insight, thanks a lot!
If you found some gold, keep sampling. I remember sampling a creek for about 2 hours and only found a few fly poop specks in each pan. I decided to keep checking and do two more samples before I gave up on that creek. The next pan, I hit it great. Found an area about 8 feet x 8 feet that was rich in gold. Sample bank to bank and sample where you least expect to find it. Good luck, Zach.
hey, thanks for the response. i have found a little in the catawba near landsford. usually one or two colors per shovel...all fine, nothing coarse...yet!
