"Regular" opener for SD pheasants. Ace & I hit a little public spot that happened to have picked crops nearby & picked up a quick limit. They're fun once in awhile, & I don't turn them down, but they're a little boring. That said, later in the season, we'll have days that are the exact opposite of short & boring. Wind noise reduction strategy was a big fail.

Ahhh I miss my pheasant and grouse days in SD. Lived many years in Pine Ridge and then Rapid City. I had many a fun hunts in those days. Thank you for sharing, it really took me back! good luck hunting sir

Nice video despite the audio issues. The wind noise is a real problem out there. Keep them coming!

Always enjoy your hunts. Ace appreciates the strong clear commands and really Hunts them up. Lesson learned on audio.

I wish he appreciated them a bit more sometimes, but it's probably my fault he doesn't. 🤷

Nice job sir. Coming out on Wednesday for those roosters for my first trip of the season and really looking forward to it. Ace is a great dog and honestly really enjoy watching him. On that first rooster he spun around on a dime and man is he quick when he turns the jets on. If I were a rooster I’d hate to have him on my ass!

Check out the foam wind slayers, they’re super cheap and do a great job cutting down on wind. Only downside is it’s a bit more difficult to swap batteries without taking the GoPro off your head.

So only 2 minutes of research here (my style). $40 version or $10 version? Have to remove it to change the battery?

@@lilbrowhydaw $10 version and yes, you'll have to remove it to change batteries. Also, not sure what editing software you use but the free version of Davinci Resolve should allow you to do Voice Isolation which will drastically remove the wind noise.

@@in.hindsight For $10, they'd be worth trying. I assume you'd turn the GoPro wind reduction feature off? I'm currently using Shotcut, which I don't THINK has voice isolation. That'd be cool though, so maybe I'll look into Resolve. I'm still fairly new to Shotcut, so although I'm happy with it, I wouldn't be throwing away years & years of experience if I switched to something else. Thanks for your...insight!

How old is Ace? Thinking he's still on the younger side-right? My new spaniel will turn 5 months this week, coming along nicely, might be time to get-him on some live birds. Always enjoy your clips!

Thanks Scott. Ace is 4-1/2. This is his 5th season. Still got plenty of puppy in him. My springers have all been 5-6 months when they started hunting. Granted, I live in an area with good bird populations, but it only takes 2-3 hunts for the light bulb to come on, & they're finding & flushing pheasants.
