Got out Saturday w/ my daughter Leah & Ace. Had competition for my hunting spots for the first time this season, so was unable to hunt what I'd intended. No matter. There are plenty. Sunday hunted the spot I wanted to hunt. Just committed a Cardinal sin twice in 30 minutes & didn't stay with Ace. What a moron. I can't believe I still do that occasionally, after all the times it's made a fool of me. Otherwise, I'd have been done in an hour. Oh well. There's plenty of season left & plenty of roosters. Don't need limits every time. Still a great weekend of pheasant hunting.

Thanks bro. Coyotes gotta eat too, & some cripples heal/recover to fight another day, but it sure makes a guy feel better to have NOT sent a cripple off unfound.

When you get to be our age, I even cringe when I watch a guy fall! Ace reminds me so much of my Springer-Finley.

Nice video once again. Actually out here myself right now and can’t believe number of birds where I am. Took today off as my lab got sutures yesterday from barbed wire and had to be sedated so he was in ruff shape but should be fine tomorrow Using my A-5 tomorrow. In my opinion it’s the best shotgun ever made. As long as it’s clean and lubed it’ll always work. Very surprised when you miss you always shoot well and do a great job of swinging the gun and following thru. Such a great feeling when the dog comes thru on crippled birds. Makes it extra special for sure. Great job Ace.

Thanks! Honestly, I typically don't fall much, but this season I've already taken a couple pretty good tumbles. And you'd think after all these years of being proven wrong, that I'd NEVER leave my dog. And yet, once in awhile I still think I know better where pheasants are/aren't than he does. Ridiculous. But I'm glad for the variety & that every hunt is different.

You have some shooting skill. When I miss I always feel like it was footwork and I didn’t make a solid base. Of course, those roosters always catch you with the wrong foot in front. I know you know this. But I teach my young hunters when you fall first thing you look at is did the barrel go in the ground? Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, Doug. Shooting pheasants isn't like other things, obviously. Put me in a duck blind, & I'm not near as good as I used to be, because I rarely hunt ducks anymore. Not as good at sensing walleye bites as I was when I fished a lot. I hunt pheasants a lot & have been for over 40 years. Gun mount has to be great, consistent, & 2nd nature. The ability to remain calm & confident, get your feet positioned, & see the bird clearly comes with experience. I've had more opportunities to practice that than any person I know. And still, sometimes I can't imagine why a rooster keeps flying. 🤣 No, we don't want plugged barrels. Important thing to check.
