I worked in Redcar back in the mid 80s, it was a nice seaside town then but like many similar places it has suffered with Job losses and lack of investment. I feel a visit coming on.
I’ve visited Redcar since I was a young child with the family, it’s surprising how it’s changed over the years, a few years back it was very sad to see how many empty shops there were. The industry has changed so much in the past couple of decades, sad to see some of the industries which were the heart of Teesside disappearing over the years. Thanks for the comment, all the best, David & Rachel 👍
Found your channel after searching more about South Gare, we've just stayed there for the 3rd time and done our own vlog about the locals wanting to get it closed down to campervans, which would be a shame as we love it there for the views.. Great channel guys you've now got us following you for more of your adventures 🤗🤗
Thank you - really appreciated, will have to check yours out! It would be a real shame if it got closed wouldn't it. All the very best and thanks again! David & Rachel 👍
The South Gare looks a nice place to stop. Glorious weather too. We would like it there. Redcar looked worth a trip too. Nice drive along the sea front. You were so lucky with the weather. 👍😊🚐
It was great wasn’t it, came away disappointed we hadn’t been before. It was a little too busy in Redcar and Marske for my liking - will go again when it’s a little quieter but definitely worth checking out if you are in the area. Saltburn also close by. Thank you, all the best, David & Rachel 👍
Hi David and Rachel happy new year to you and Roxy of course Such a great video and my brother lives in Skelton so know Redcar fairly well now must go down to the South Gare never been over as yet but agree about the stray and marske and we love going to the stray for a breakfast when we are up there looks like you had lovely weather and the beach looked lovely glad to see Roxy enjoying the sand all the best Daniel
Hi Daniel - thank you very much for the lovely comment. We had a great day didn’t we, beats the current weather for sure! Definitely worth a trip down, it was our first time and we would certainly go back as it was really nice. Will have to try The Stray for breakfast (perhaps on a day when it’s not so busy 😀) pleased you enjoyed the video - thanks again - all the very best, David & Rachel 👍
Morning Guys, thanks for the video. I'm planning a solo visit there sometime soon. I love the scruffy little harbour there which is locally known as Paddy's Hole. I have a soft spot for Redcar too, as I went to college there s a teenager. In fact I might have a little trip there this afternoon when I've finished my photography jobs for the newspaper. Keep Well.
Thanks very much for the comment - there’s some fantastic views and interesting bits isn’t there - always nice to look back at things again from your younger days. Enjoy your visit 🙌 All the very best, David & Rachel ❤️
Love The North East Coast, weather looked fantastic. What were the collection of small sheds for on the left when you were leaving The Gare? I presume the port authorities don't enforce the trespassing issue. Cheers K.
Thanks K, appreciate the comment. I believe the huts are fisherman’s huts (someone may know better than me though) - I assume they don’t enforce the trespassing and did try and find out information on it but it referred to the port specifically from what I found - there are also other businesses down there (and a cafe too) now I’ve said that no doubt will jinx it 😀 - all the best, David & Rachel 👍
Apologies for popping on your comment, the sheds are indeed fisherman's huts. Opposite the sheds where the boats are is called paddy's hole and guys hole. Also on the left are the now disused life boat station and the still in operation pilot station. The port authorities have never (apart from one day a year) stopped traffic from going down the gare. Regular police patrols are also down there so that may reassure those who wish to stay down there. Regards Mark
Hi David and Rachael and Roxy Just a short video this one but as usual so much packed into it looks nice there we always went Tynemouth and up the north east coast Whitley bay seaton sluice Blyth beadnell and seahouses Did you know the A66 start's at workington and finishes other side of Middleborough some people say it's the best thing about wukinton now All the best Malcolm and Sheila
Hi Malcolm and Sheila, thanks for the comment, appreciated. Tynemouth is nice isn’t it - assume you may have gone across the A69 rather than the A66? The northern coasts both east and west have some lovely places. Yes - the A66 pretty much goes from Redcar to Workington doesn’t it - all the very best, David & Rachel 👍
Those both looked like good places to visit especially with a dog which is very much the most important thing on our agenda, now we have Max. On the same day we went to Cannock Chase which is near to where we live. It was Max’s first time in Madge and it went wellish 😂. Take care Gill
@@LeisureBitMax loved it. We all had a picnic inside Madge and then Max made a few deposits. He is very much in the toilet training phase. Thankfully he enjoyed playing with his toys and having a sleep. Take care Gill
When we first got Rox I took her to our neighbours - they plied me with wine - little Rox was playing… I said ohhh better go at which point I spotted baby Rox circling to 💩 on their cream carpet followed by a wee. All my fault 🤦♀️
