Welcome to LeisureBit - Vanlife, Adventures & Tech.
We are David, Rachel & Roxy our Labrador and have an Elddis CV20 Campervan / motorhome.
This channel focusses on two main themes connected with camping and leisure which I hope you will find useful and enjoy.
The first theme is trips away and we'll share campsites, stop overs and other places we visit as well as some walks.
The second feature is leisure technology and gadgets which will cover reviews of particular pieces of tech used in caravans, campervans and/or motorhomes which you may find helpful, how to use camping electronics and gadgets through to customisations and making things for the campervan.
I hope you enjoy your LeisureBit.

I've stayed there a few times as it's only 1/2 an hour from where I live. It ticks all the boxes for me, dog walks, views, pub, fish and chips but to me that price is ridiculous. When you add on your annual fee £63 spread over the year you're looking at £50 a night. I personally wouldn't pay that.
Morning! Just re watched to spot you again! Yep! Saw you on the right hand side sporting the light pink eye screen cover with you guys at the side! You are famous! 🙌 Wasn’t it a cracking weekend! We had a blast! Rachel & David 💗💗
Morning thank you for your comment. The weekend was really good value for what you got. The entertainment was top notch. Facilities basic but good. Food and drink was reasonable too. Great atmosphere too Rachel & David 💗💗
Morning! Thank you for the comment! Glad you spotted yourself. It was a great weekend wasn’t it! The fancy dress costumes were amazing! Rachel & David 💗💗
Fantastic video of a brilliant event. I was there as a solo camper and everyone was so welcoming and friendly, I had an amazing time. You've included the footage of me winning the 50m dash at the Croc Olympics, thank you - it was so much fun!
You were epic! Like a gazelle! Well done you! It was such a great weekend wasn’t it and well done you being a solo camper. That can take being brave but the van community is so lovely and always tries to include all! Thank you so much for watching & commenting xx Rachel & David 💗💗
Hi both, it was so lovely to meet you! You looked too cool to not include! I still can’t get over the amazing outfits people wore! The flintstones were epic! Hopefully meet up with you again soon!
Thank you for another amazing event - we really enjoyed it. I can only imagine the amount of prep and work which goes into organising it - what a great team. Well done 🙌🚐❤️
That price is disgusting for a small site with pitches right close to each other if you don't use the facilities you should get a discount why pay for something you don't use the club is greedy like the rest of the caravan industry now
Lovely video I used to go there as a kid on the bus with my gran. At the next roundabout up is Seaton Sluice with a pub called the Kings Arms ...beside which is a small bridge to walk over the "gorge" to see the small moored up boats . Thumbs up and looking forward to your next vlog!
We are so glad it brought back some memories for you. It is such a lovely part of the world and well worth a visit xx we do need to go to Seaton Sluice too xx Thank you so much for your comments & encouragement 💗💗
First visited that site in the late 70s in a caravan owned by my parents. I later bought my own caravan, joined the, then, Caravan Club and visited many times over the years. We were last there round about 1993, this brought back lovely memories. Apart from the electric points very little has changed in all of those years.
Ahhh I’m glad it brought back memories for you. The site & location are really nice. The toilet blocks had been refurbished but as you say apart from that it remains relatively unchanged. Thank you so much for your comment x Rachel & David 💗
Camc couldn’t run a bath. I told this lot 3yrs ago to go metered leccy because electricity was expensive. But I bet they only knock off £4 for metered leccy
Enjoyed the video, however comparing prices from April 2022 and July 2024 isn’t a true comparison. April 2025 prices are a maximum of £41 over Easter and considerably less outside of school holidays. Also the electricity price cap does not apply to businesses so the cost could well be much higher than you quoted. The only downside to this site for us is that we only live 10 miles away but I’m thinking that a night away could be enjoyable and the fuel cost is negligible.
You are absolutely right on the cost part, it’s based on the domestic price cap not business so could be more or less. Sometimes it’s nice to go local isn’t it - all the best, David & Rachel 👍
Yes we are very lucky to live here , Whitley Bay has been revitalised in the last few years. Will be even better when the Lighthouse has been refurbished. Look forward to your next vlog 😊
Hi David & Rachel cracking vlog 😊 that sites a bit steep price wise, i know everythings gone up, and electric wasn,t included i thought some of the Camc sites were dear 🤦♀️ See you soon x
Hi David Rachel and Roxy😊 We actually live in Whitley Bay so walked past the site but never actually stayed there but friends visiting have. The new toilet block looks nice and modern but can you tell me do they have the timed push buttons on the showers ( my pet hate !). Surprised they haven't done anything to the pitches themselves as small for a longer van. The price was eye watering especially compared to somewhere like Pheasant Hill which I know you have been to ( we loved it there too ). CAMC need to be careful they aren't pricing themselves out of the market!! Thanks for another great vlog.
Whitley Bay hasn’t half changed! It’s a lovely site but slightly underwhelmed with the refurb. The shower block was lovely. I don’t think it had the push button showers ( I hate them too) We thought they might have levelled the pitches and made them bigger too. The turf was shocking - Roxy could have done better! Still a cracking site though! Rachel & David
We stayed there a few years ago, can’t remember how much it was, but today’s price is a little eye watering & as nice as it is I will not be paying those prices.
It is a lovely site, with great views. The new toilet block was an improvement. It’s such a shame that prices have gone so crazy. You never know they might get like van prices and start coming down. Thank you for your comment. Rachel & David 💗
Thank you David, Rachel and Roxey. Another great video and fantastic info for visiting the area and the campsite. We just did the old stone trough from one of your previous videos (Unbelievable value with the breakfast included), great staff and a nice place too stay. We planned to only stay for one night, but ended up up staying for 3 nights (our entire trip)
Thank you - the old stone trough is fantastic isn’t it - I can understand why you would stay for the whole trip 🙌 Have a fantastic weekend, all the best, David & Rachel 👍
It’s a cracking site isn’t it but you’re right the cost compared to what it was has got a bit steep. Thanks very much for watching - Have a lovely weekend, all the best, David & Rachel 👍
Good video David, from caravaning with my parents in the 60s, I always championed the Caravan club, been a member for over 50 years, stayed on over 60 of their sites, in 20007 1000s of us meet up at national, to celebrate 100 years of the club, then in 2017 they changed their name, IMHO, they're just a business, its not even a touring club, you dont need a caravan or motorhome to be a member, you can be an associate member and stay in their rented accommodation!!! It's' know longer a club, £46 a night good greif, re furbished the site but not the pitches, apart from the electric meter!!! weve stayed at Old Hartley and witnessed folk struggling to level their vans !!! Now a days we rarely use their sites, use CLs, only stay on our favourite ones occasionally. We've just come back from France and the first and last nights over their, where booked through the camc, 2 different sites, both with far more facilities than any club site, and both were only £23 per night, last night July 7/8th. How can they justify their prices, a friend of ours is on site in Dorest, and paying even more., and says the site is far from full. ?
Thank you. We have seen in the past a poor chap (years ago) almost burn his clutch out reversing a caravan onto a pitch at Old Hartley. Let’s hope the prices normalise a little - be good even to see numbers starting with a 3 rather than 4 (and low end 3) to be a fair price for the night - all the very best, David & Rachel 👍
Hi David & Rachel, Lovely site and area for exploring and thanks for the tour 👍. It’s a shame the club didn’t install a few fully serviced pitches like the other redevelopments they have done. Bit expensive for a standard pitch. Best regards, Rob & Gail 😀
Hi Rob & Gail, yes - I wondered why they didn’t do more changes to the pitches especially access not needing to be over the grass. Lovely area and site though as you say. All the very best, David & Rachel 👍
Very nice David Rachel I think Swift have really made a good job of there latest vans and motorhomes had my CV60 coming up to three years now and will be changing shortly and leaning towards swift I also like Ascari range and thinking of going bigger.
Yes they have a nice finish don’t they- it’s difficult to home in sometimes on a specific one and balance off pros and cons of each - good luck with the hunt - all the very best, David & Rachel 👍
There are a few places - the club ones tend to be on the centres - there are also specialist ones like this - we spotted some we missed this year - will let you know the ones we know 👍 all the very best, David & Rachel 👍
We were going C but aren’t surprised at D. Prices are getting ridiculous now , we’re new to this but £35 is pretty much our top price tbf. We are members of said club.
Yes it’s getting a bit steep - hopefully it will normalise a bit over the coming years back to what it was. Thanks for watching - all the very best, David & Rachel 👍
Yes, we know lol 😂 only kidding - it is getting a bit steep now - we don’t mind paying a bit more for something a bit special but it seems to have shot up of late - have a lovely weekend - all the best, David & Rachel 👍
Hi David and Rachel, we agreed with the comments about the price of UK sites. To put some perspective on it, we paid roughly around £20 for hard standing pitches with electric, showers toilets, sometimes bars, restaurants and swimming pools in France in June this year We also paid similar prices two years ago at similar sites in France. We all have our opinions on why we pay so much in this country and l won't get into that debate. Great vlog and nice to see the weather has improved. Kay and Paul x
Wow that has gone up even since we went last September we paid £36.10pn. It does have lovely views and we walked across the causeway to St Mary’s. We were lucky enough to see the seals. Take care Gill
It is a lovely view isn’t it - St Mary’s was closed this time unfortunately as would have been nice to wander across. Have a lovely weekend - all the very best, David & Rachel 👍
Hi there David Rachel and Roxy it's us a agen fray west cumbre. We love at Whitley bay and Seaton Sluice have you ever been to Spanish City it's plush in there fish and chips are spot on. We've been over to Lanercost Priory today and came back the scenic way by Port Carlisle Kirkbride Abbeytown and Silloth. Stopped at Allonby for a mind blowing Twenty man's Banana split ice cream 😮. All the best till next time. Malcolm and Sheila from Workington. PS all the tomatoes have gone now❤
Great vlog. Nice to see somewhere I know well. You should have walked down to Seaton Sluice harbour. It's a pretty little place, the walk up Seaton Burn from the harbour is lovely and the chippie is not bad. All the best,
As always another good vlog. Nice walks to the beach and Roxy having a dig 🐕😉. The site fees have generally gone up so no great surprises. Please you noted the power usage as some people seem to get excited about meters but you have proved that there is nothing to fear - like our sub £1 use at the meet last October #rachelgate 😂😂. Thanks both and Roxy of course 👍
#rachelgate 😂😂😂😂 Now you would think it mighty suspicious if I confused your new wheels 🛞 😂😝ohhh sorry I thought it was grey!!! 😂😂😂 Roxy loves a dig after a swim! 🏊♀️ Rachel,David & Roxy 💗💗
Hi Kerry that’s such a shame as I was looking forward to going over but it gives a good reason to go back and visit again 💗 Thank you for your comment Rachel & David 💗
Ohhhhh I was going to tell you if you were right or wrong but I realised I would give everyone the answer! 😂😂😂😂 I would be rubbish on Who wants to be a millionaire! 😂😂😂 Rachel & David 💗

Hello David, Rachel, I have not got any other way of contacting you. With regards to motorhome manufacturers warranties. Or the lack of them as we have just discovered on our now one. If you can help us spread the word to other owners We would be grateful. As we follow you, but do not have a RU-vid following. Many thanks, Peter & Deborah.
Hello Guys, We bought a Elddis 115, new and registered on 01/04/2024. First owners, we were told by the company we bought from, it comes with 3 years manufacturers warranty on mechanics. ie the cab, engine etc. We then got told it has a recall on it. A reflash of the ECU, with regards to emissions. Whilst at the dealership they told us it had 19 months warranty left and needed a service. So upon contacting Peugeot UK. They told us the warranty starts when the motorhome manufacturer buys it from Peugeot. So any campervan or motorhome will never have the warranty you are told by the manufacturer or dealer. We have informed the dealer, but they are not getting anywhere with Peugeot UK. I think the buyers spending a lot of money should confirm this with there chassis company. As usually you only check or need it when something goes wrong, possibly to be told it has lapsed or not a lot left of it. I know you have a big following and are trying to get the word out about this. Have been told other manufacturers are doing the same thing. We are North East UK based, and the dealer was great up until this. Thank the lord there was a recall on my motorhome. Thanks, Peter & Deborah.
Sorry to hear that, I know on Fiat they give 2 year warranty on campervans rather than 3 for that reason but it’s confusing - sounds like it needs to be clearer, can you extend the warranty?
@@LeisureBit Hello, Fiat are also doing it, giving less than two years. Have managed to talk to an owner, who from new only received 18 months due to 6 months build and the chassis being bought but inline to be built. So these people who bought via COVID may have a year or so from new. I may have to try and do a RU-vid video myself. It states on Elddis website 3 years mechanical warranty. But it is not so. Anyway thanks
Drove through Hutton Le Hole on our way to Pickering at the weekend, what a lovely village and it was a fantastic road going over the moors to Pickering. brilliant museum by look of it 🙂 Food looked very nice in the pub.Exclellent video as ever 🙂 Trev Debz and Tyler
Thank you guys - I had never been over those moors before and really enjoyed it. Hutton le Hole was beautiful 😍 picture postcard place. The museum was great too. The pub and food was also top notch Rachel, David & Roxy 💗
Durham is a lovely city and well worth adding it to your list 💗💗 it is so vibrant with loads to see do / eat / drink Thank you for your comment Rachel & David 💗
