The frog bite started to get good the second week of May after a prolonged period of colder/wetter than normal weather conditions. Water temperatures ranged in the low to mid 60s. Caught most bass in pads and a few up tight in flooded brush. Thanks for Watching!

@@AlexanderBronskyFishing Always love to see when you come out with a new video. As you know, I'm from New Jersey. Monmouth County, Neptune. Always fished ocean/salt water until I moved out here to San Diego and took up freshwater bass fishing. I feel like I'm in the kayak with you, your videos are THAT good! Thanks again.

I'm still somewhat new at fishing and I've been ignoring a proper frog rod setup for long enough. I missed two giant catches on a frog, this morning, which would've been a wonderful PB. I fish South Jersey, too, and would like to know what your recommended specs are for a frog rod. Thanks for the great videos!

Hey Kim! Thanks for watching fellow south Jersey fisherman! The best rod for throwing a frog is a 7ft to 7ft 6 inch heavy power fast action baitcast rod. I like a 7ft heavy fast action for kayak fishing. If you want longer casts, and more power on the hookset i would recommend a longer 7’6” heavy fast action rod. The only disadvantage with a longer rod is casting interference from trees. But the extra length will help u set the hook and muscle fish out of cover. The reel would be any baitcast reel that has a 7:2:1 or higher gear ratio (need a fast reel) and 50lb braid. I don’t recommend frogging with spinning rods. It’s extremely difficult and not practical, but it can be done if thats what you use. In that case, find a heavy action spinning rod at least 7ft and use 20lb braid on a 3500 size spinning reel. Make sure the drag is locked down tight! Thanks for watching!

How do you ge the buzz bait to stay upright . And what gear ratio do you recommend for top water ??

I use a 7:2:1 high speed reel with 30# braid. Keep you rod tip high beginning of cast, then u can lower it once the bait is on top while maintaining speed. Have to engage the reel just before the lure hits the water and start reeling the bait immediately after it lands. Thanks for watching!

Great stuff, I finally caught my new LMB PB in Maryland this weekend. Topwater was slammed. I'm going to be texas rigging some lizards as a fallback I think - what lizard do you like using?

Nice job man! Topwater is the best :) I usually use the zoom 5” lizards! Thanks for watching!
