South Kaibab to Bright Angel Rim-to-Rim Hike in 1 Day - Grand Canyon, Arizona | 🇺🇸🚙🏜️🌵
Aloha Friends! Here's our 33rd video of our 7 month USA road trip. After spending a day in Sedona, we drove north to the Grand Canyon to spend two days there. In this video, we're also showing what to expect when doing the amazing South Kaibab to Bright Angel rim-to-rim hike in one day - Enjoy!
‼️ Please note: Doing the rim-to-rim hike in one day is NOT recommended by the park. Only attempt this hike if you're an ultra-fit and an experienced hiker and do it at your own risk. Also, prepare for this hike by studying all necessary info sheets and taking proper hiking equipment including food, liquids and an emergency set with you. ‼️
✅ The hike starts at 5:33
ℹ️ Hike distance: 26.6 km total (South Kaibab 11.3 km down + Bright Angel 15.3 km up)
ℹ️ Hike elevation change: 2.75 km total (South Kaibab 1.43 km down + Bright Angel 1.32 km up)
ℹ️ Hike duration: Ca. 9 hours total (3h down, 1h30' along the river incl. lunch break, 5h30' up)

Amazing video! Beautiful photography! Three people in our family did this same hike in April 2021 and you captured the essence of the experience perfectly! Thank you for sharing!

You guys did a fantastic job creating this video, and congratulations on your hike! You did great! Just a tidbit of information; there is normally water at 3 Mile Rest House, (as well as Indian Garden, 1.5mi rest house, and out at the end of the Plateau Point trial). That said, the water pipeline suffers breaks and other failures throughout the year, as well as different areas being turned off, depending on the season. The Park Service tries to keep water updates posted to both their website, and on pieces of paper at the trail heads. You can also get the latest water and trail info in the Bright Angel Lodge, where the mule ride/Phantom Ranch/Lodge rooms check in desks are located, as well as at the Back Country Office, over near Maswick Lodge (other side of the train tracks, if you're standing at the entrance to the Bright Angel Lodge, and looking out across the parking lot towards the train tracks). It's always a good idea to check trail, water, and weather/temp condition frequently.

I did the same trip on April 9, 2021. The temperature is about the same as your trip. I left at 9:10 am from the Kaibab. and arrived at the Bright Angel at 5:50 pm. The completely different scene was the river, which was very clear when I arrived. And I had to continue walk to the Visitor Center where i parked my car with one more hour since the shuttle closed at that season😩

大峡谷很惊险、很震撼,但是并不美丽。 这一点和优胜美地不一样,喜欢探险的人更喜欢大峡谷,这就是是萝卜白菜各有所爱。

guys, a R2R is generally defined as going south to north, or vice versa, not down from the south and back up to the south. I realize it's good clickbait to call your hike R2R, but it's not

Thanks for the hint, we actually state clearly that we did the South Kaibab to Bright Angel hike (Thumbnail and description), which is also a very popular hike and this one is often also described as a R2R hike. But yes, you're right, the "real R2R" is north to south, but we never claimed or tried to trick anybody to think that we did this hike.

@@leemiciadventures7309 no worries I don't think you were trying to trick anyone -- I'm just letting you know your popular hike down from the south rim and back up to the south rim is not a R2R as your video title states and the reason I clicked on it. So I would change it. Else I could just walk on the rim trail and call it r2r or walk down to skeleton point and back up and call it r2r. A r2r is pretty clearly understood as starting at north and going to south or vice versa. For what it's worth, I just did R2R2R today
