Since Centennial Airport doesn't meet FAA Part 139 criteria, staffed ARFF apparatus are not required to be on airport grounds.

Yes, an apparatus committee is currently active and working on initial specs for 2 replacement ARFF units for Red 1 and Red 3.

I would of cancelled Red 2 and took L35 in case.

@@SilverSprings95 1. I can't say for certain but usually there is protocol for something like that IE if an air emergency is called they are REQUIRED to bring Red 1 and Red 2. 2. A tower is going to be much more useless for an aircraft emergency than Red 2. It is specially designed and equipped for airport firefighting and rescue while Tower 35 just isn't equipped for those scenarios. 3. This is serving a general aviation airport and not a commercial airport (hence why they don't have the fire trucks at the airport and they respond from outside it) so they don't have to worry about massive commercial aircraft 4. They are first due, along with Red 3 from station 44, and the Red trucks are going to be better at any aviation emergency (as previously stated) and if they require additional help they can call in other apparatus to assist, which could include towers, rescues, engines, and squads along with BLS and ALS ambulances. They need the capabilities of the Red trucks to act as fire suppression and rescue and additional apparatus would act as support and manpower to assist them.

This Station is about 0.4 miles from the closest runway access point. Centennial Airport is not FAA Part 139 certified so ARFF isn't required to be staffed onsite. Although the airport is relatively small, in 2020 it was ranked the 3rd busiest general aviation airport in the U.S.

@@SouthMetroFireRescuePIO cool! Thanks for letting me know! I live in a town about 4 hours from the Denver area and our small airport has surprisingly large aircraft coming in every once and a while

We've learned from RU-vid comments that not every State allows fire apparatus to have blue lights. Here in Colorado any ambulance, fire apparatus or law enforcement vehicle may have any combination of red, white, blue and amber lighting.
