In honor of National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week coming up, this SMFR Unscripted episode features the stories of our MetCom dispatchers and the hard work they put in each day.
This is a place I would have loved to work at and for! I started dispatching (Public Safety) fulltime in 1988 and left in 2015. I have a background in working as both an FF and a police officer. I still love dispatching the best because we are involved, for the most part, from the start to the end of any incident. I would have moved the 1,000 miles to work for a center like this one. I like the channel so I subscribed.
Happy NTW from a dispatcher in Ohio!! Great video, and thanks for all you guys do. I'd love to see a video on your guys' IDT, I'm currently working on developing the procedures to follow for a future team in our agency!
That can be a very stressful job with various ups and downs. Multitasking is an absolutely essential skill, with triage over the phone to provide the best care possible over a phone. They are a support person for someone who is going through a traumatic event in their life, they are literally the lifeline for those in the community. Being able to flex and deal with a dynamic situation as it develops. Just a lot of responsibility because if they don't get it right people, including firefighters could die. SMFR has some of the best dispatchers. Great video of behind-the-scenes heroes at work.
Great video showcasing dispatchers and their perspective of their profession along with how and why they are dispatchers 😀😎 💞 I how they are one big family as much as firefighters are 👏👏 awesome and informative
being a firefighter looks like a lot of fucking fun. nowhere near as much adrenaline but shit crawling through burning buildings full of fire hacking at doors and pulling people out, that's something I could get into
I agree with Peter in thinking that PIO Connor might get some interesting experiences on a ride along 😃 She def could video record her time on the ride along and thereby share her experiences with us 😃
South Metro Fire Rescue PIO okay thank you I wasn’t sure since you already put 2 videos up this week and it’s also lovely to see Conner working on her own series for the recruit training
South Metro is a consolidated fire department that is made up of Parker Fire Department, Littleton Fire Department, Cunningham Fire District.... These are all in the Denver metro area, just south of Denver Colorado..... Hopefully that helps.... Metcom is the dispatch center than takes care of South Metro Fire along with several other smaller agencies of the front range of Denver
