Nice day Jeff, I have been fishing that area a bit lately and that is similar to what I am seeing as well. Some nice grass recovery and a few nice fish especially on the trout side, I have pulled 4 fish in the 24" + range in the last few trips. Keep it up!👍
Nice fish! I really appreciate you letting us know where you are fishing. That's a long trip from NSB, but my CNS pass works at both ends of the park, so I need to go. I also paid close attention to the launch because the last time I was at Lot 5, on the north side, the ramp was unusable and needed grading.
Thanks! I don't make a habit of telling exactly where I am, although I do always mention the ramp I'm using. However, Whale's Tail is an iconic south end flat that pretty much everyone knew about, so I know it's of particular interest to a lot of us who fished it when it was worthwhile. That's why I don't mind naming it. The Eddy Creek launch is decent for a sandy beach launch. I'm sure you could get your skiff in there if you wanted, it just gets tricky when the tide is really low or really high.
Nice fish! Great report and happy to see some seagrass! I'm in Port St Lucie and we hit Vero on the Indian River last week and the water quality is also improving, saw quite a bit of seagrass which gives me hope. My wife caught the biggest trout I've ever seen. I put it on my channel. Hoping to get up there to fish the Mosquito Lagoon before we leave for summer. I don't care if we don't catch fish just love the scenery up there.
Looks like conditions are getting there, thanks for showing. Did you check out going along the west shore?…last time I was down there it was just sand all the way up and down.
Just take a look at the aerials for the south end. Find Eddy creek and look northwest. You'll see a whale tail shaped sandbar. That's it, except it didn't used to be sand.
Thanks! Paddle tails, jerk shad and eel/worm bodies rigged weedless are the easiest. If you have a little bit of water above the tops of the grass, topwater baits can be super effective too, but you have to cast low and shallow, so the lure doesn't plunge into the grass when it lands.
Fyi, I was subscribed to your channel but now I’m not and didn’t see this video until now. I just resubscribed but figured you might want to know that RU-vid’s pulling BS on your channel
