@Devils Advocate How does it feel being the only person who gets insulted when someone says that their IQ is the same as their dick size in millimetres?
Something tells me they're not a permanent member of that table. So they probably brought their own plaque and tiny canadian flag........which somehow makes it even more funny.
To anyone not in the know, this aired during the aftermath of the 2007-2008 WGA strike. At the beginning of the strike, Matt and Trey were all excited because great, they don’t have to create a 12th season, so they could just kick back and relax for a couple of months. That was until Comedy Central politely reminded them that they’re non-union and thus were contractually obligated to create new episodes So, deciding to take the piss out of Hollywood, they made this. Just replace Canada with the WGA, and internet money with DVD residuals and compensation for new media.
@@Anthony-mt7qr also breaking bad was made a lot better by it. Jesse was gonna die at the end of season 1 but they had to cut the last episode cause of the strike and everyone liked him so much they kept him for the whole show.
@@clayjack9969 either you don't get the point I was making or you don't see it. See if The Apprentice doesn't get renewed because of it's poor ratings, then the chain of events that leads to Trump becoming President don't necessarily happen. Outside of that show he barely had any brand recognition that was relevant at the time. You might mention twitter but sure, without a public image it becomes very hard to seep into the psyche of people across the country.
@WolfgangLMclain And the users end up paying indirectly that tax. They pay more and their personal data are still sold. Yay! The pretense is user protection but the real goal is to get more money.
@@user-se3qm2se2t Not in cases where the service is free. Imagine how many users Facebook would lose if they suddenly announced that you had to pay a monthly fee to use the site. Sure, paid services will just pass the tax on to users, but free stuff like Google and Twitter and Facebook would be absolutely screwed by this, and as it so happens they're also some of the biggest offenders when it comes to selling people's data. Those companies are who the tax is meant to target.
@@IBeforeAExceptAfterK In that case they are selling the data for a higher price, but they keep selling it. If the goal was really to prevent that, it would be forbidden not taxed. The government(s) just want a share of the spoils.
@@Darkstar1484 Trouble is that the people that led the strike turned out to get exactly what this episode showed, Nothing. As Trey and Matt put it - You have these guys partying and acting like they won but they won nothing and ended up getting less.
@@osiris7127 I think the strike was still going during this. And yeah the strike went poorly but it didn't help that most people didn't actually seem to understand what the strike was over. The show making it look like they were asking randomly for 'internet money' doesn't help either
@Stale Bagelz Watch South Park enough and you'll see they tend to make fun of both sides of every argument. They're anti-everything. And it's all in good fun.
Dylan Stewart , I know. The only people in Canada that talk like that are from a southern Ontario. It’s like saying someone from Brooklyn talks like someone from rural Tennessee.
Ya mean google and Silicon Valley tax? I’d targeting American big tech? Because G20 and OECD already agreed and Trump was furious. Biden was too soft after trying to be tough
Interesting that Gordon Brown's voice sounds like an American trying to do a well-to-do English accent, whenever Gordon Brown is actually a gruff Scotsman
Alex Kane The flags of Sweden, Norway, Spain, “Africa” plus one country I can’t see the sign of are all in one colour. Spain’s actual flag only has details of green on the badge, and African Union doesn’t use a blue flag to my knowledge.
@Kent Lastname you are 16 and you pretty much know this. So what about it? Why are you telling me that? How is this info useful in any way? And you haven't even answered my question. If all you were to going to say that there was a writer's strike and that you know about it and that you are 16, why even bother? Oh I know, maybe it's because you 16?
@Kent Lastname so you didn't actually know about it when it happened? You would have been 3 in 2007 lol, also Because you just said you did some research. LMAO 😂
Lived in Canada my whole 36 years, and in all that time, I've heard a fellow Canadian say "aboot" precisely once. Ironically, it was a news caster. The one goddamned Canadian in the whole fuckin' country that actually has that accent, and he's gotta be on television. I swear to god....
There is a Canadian RU-vidr called JJ McCullough who has an incredibly strong and somewhat stereotypical Canadian accent. I initially thought he was using it for show, as his content is all about Canadian fun facts and the world around us, but it turns out.... No, that's legit his accent.... Its exactly like you said, the only Canadians that have that Canadian accent are the ones mostly in the public sphere which is super weird.... I know some Canadians in my personal life here in Amsterdam, and I swear, they could easily pass for an American accent. No "aboots" or "eh" whatsoever....
What's amazing about this clip is how for years (and i'm sure decades) after, comments from every depressing political corner will be claiming this is a hilarious parody of their opponents. Liberals saying it's like Trump, conservatives making fun of Trudeau, someone in 2030 claiming it's satire of Supreme Leader Xing, someone in 2031 claiming it's making fun of all those stupid anti-Supreme-Leader-Xing protestors.
Curse that damm supreme leader xing... her election was a totally rigged! Quebec would never have voted for her! The greed she displays is clearly represented herein.
0:17 In the middle you see the Diplomat from Switzerland. But the flag is a red cross on white ground. This is the symbol of the "International Committee of the Red Cross". The swiss flag is a white cross on red ground. Now I really want to know if the makers of South Park made a mistake or a joke here. Because those two flags always get mixed up. Especially on first-aid kits.
Pretty sure it's a joke. Both Norway and Sweden's flags are completely colored with colors that are just found in their flags crosses. And Africa is represented as one country.
I can't help but feel like South Park's Canada jokes began as random, stupid hilarity...like a caricature of how Americans somehow see Canadians as different from themselves. Now it's just reality. This is EXACTLY the intellectual level of Canadian politics at the moment, from what I can tell. LOL
I saw this episode recently on tv 😃. I couldn’t stop laugh when i saw this episode 😂 and i almost fell out of my sofa laughing . More Money 💴 😂 I love when they make fun of Canada in South Park 😃.
