Matt and Trey were very hesitant to make fun of Christopher Reeves……until they saw the Larry King interview lol. They felt he was so obnoxious that they decided then they had to do it haha!
fair enough, its hypocritical to not make fun of an asshole cos they are crippled, just like they rip on caitlin jenner for being a murdering asshole, not because she is trans lol
Jimmy dropping the n-bomb with no malicious intent because that word just slipped into his vocabulary by hanging out with the Crips is so god damn funny.
Yeah, that’s one double standard I never understood. It’s considered taboo for whites to use the n-word, yet black people have no problem saying it to each other or to other races. Does it depend on the context in which the word is used?
@@Cure_Hana I would say it depends on the context. Actors aren't cancelled for using racial slurs as long as they were acting. Bruce Willis holds up an offensive sign in Die Hard 3 because a bomber forced him to and not because he was being racist.
@@Cure_Hanait’s all to do with reclaiming the word, kinda like how a lot of the LGBTQ+ community used the f-slur as a way to reclaim it for themselves after its history of being used to dehumanise and belittle them. If you ain’t a part of those groups don’t use them irl I think is the simple takeaway 🤷🏻♂️ (obviously artistic uses is different, eg. if you have a white character saying the n-word in a movie/tv show to show their ignorance, whether in a serious or comedic sense, can be fine if used in the right way). That’s my take on it all anyway :)
@@DaFootyChannel I'm gonna be honest, as someone who is homosexual and has ADHD, I literally could not care any less if someone used the F word or the R word. I genuinely find slurs really stupid, not because they exist, but because people treat them like words that can never be said and hunt down anyone who has used them even once. I seriously wish people had the freedom to just use whatever words they want to. To reiterate: I am homosexual and I have ADHD. I know how it feels to hear or see slurs, and the truth is, it genuinely does not feel bad at all. There are at least 10 times more people who get offended for other people when they hear a slur than people who *actually* get offended when they hear them. It sucks.
@@thatonecabridog I have ADHD too, and I respect your opinion mate. And if that’s the case for you then that’s all good! I was talking about in a more general sense - I have plenty of friends who are homosexual and they would find the F word offensive, especially if directed as a deliberate slur. However I know others who, like you, don’t care so much so it’s all about knowing your audience and context tbh in my opinion. Having ADHD I don’t feel comfortable saying that I have a say on the R slur, as I don’t feel like it really applies to ADHD people that much, but I still feel like it’s definitely not that bad (not as bad as the F or N slurs, for example). Plus the word “retarded” literally means “slowed” so I think in a correct setting it’s not even a slur 🤷🏻♂️ like I said, context and audience matters, as does understanding why someone might find it offensive. It’s just awareness and understanding I think :) Also I agree it’s very dumb when people who aren’t “targets” for the words get offended on other people’s behalf. Like there’s a difference between saying “Hmm you should probably be careful where you use that word” and “omg that’s so offensive you piece of shit!!!” etc etc
Matt and Trey have apologized a few times since for this episode, oddly enough not for mocking Christopher Reeves but for their negative depiction of stem cell research.
Honestly that concerned me most. STEM Cell Research saves many lives, it's not just a vanity project for disabled people. Making fun of Reeve for being a bit pompous doesn't really concern me. Would be cool if they did an apology episode for STEM Cell Research like they did with Climate Change (ManBearPig).
@Matt N I think they did show stem cell research in a more positive light in the episode where Kenny gets terminally ill. It was quite educational about how stem cells work and what good they can do for others (except for cloning an entire restaurant)
I support stem cell research, but I find the image of Chris Reeve sucking the spinal fluid from a foetus hysterical. It was so absurd, I thought maybe they were poking fun at how some evangelicals see stem cell research, not trying to knock it necessarily.
@@dash.reacts 5:41 I'm surprised you kept a straight face after what Jimmy said he Notices. But the way he said it sounds really funny even if it sounds wrong.
12:05 The other members in the legion of doom are (from left to right), Mr. Freeze, Dr. Doom, Black Manta, Cheetah, David Blaine, Dr. Octopus. and one that i think is not in the frame is Solomon Grundy to the far right.
When this dropped, it was the spiciest thing they'd ever done. I heard a story that when Matt Stone was doing the Chris Reeves impression with the pauses, apparently he stopped and shook his head in shame and said "should we be doing this?" Apparently this was the first time they were a little ashamed of how far they were able to push this. It's still pretty jaw dropping now.
A top written episode. The premise doesn't become stale, they don't drive the joke into the ground, the absurdity is...not as high as some of my favorites but it's also starring two of the hardest characters to write for. Since they can't walk for.
There's Mr. Freeze from Batman, Doctor Doom from Fantastic Four, Black Manta from Aquaman, Cheetah from Wonder Woman, David Blain the Magician and Doc Oc from Spiderman.
That reaction the crowd had to “I just flew into town, I didn’t used to need an airplane” was so realistic and funny it’s like half “aweeee” but half respectable laughter 😂 and that joke is so realistic to the type of joke someone in this type of circumstance would make
Christopher Reeves slurping fetuses always makes me laugh my ass off! XD Especially since that IS how a lot of the stem cells opposers described that treatment!
I love how SP plays with your moral compass. Who are worse people? The gang members? Chris Reeves? Jimmy's parents? The stereotypical Asian who stereotypes? Society that judges unfairly or looks the other way when it suits them? Classic episode.
I recently realized that one of my favorit things every week is a "Dash Reacts" to South Park video. You'r still in the South Park that i love, I.E The kids partake in a social issue and we get to see it through their eyes, while the B and C story tackle the mocking of the subject at hand in an hillarious and over the top way. I think "Cripple Fight" has been suggested. That one tackes another "Murrica" taboo, and is how Jimmy and Timmy met 😊 Just keep doing what you do Dash. As a South Park "fan", i'm loving every minute!
This episode had the potential to be the most controversial and destructive and Divisive episode in the series and did the exact opposite. It was just plain great.
Loving this channel! Not just because of the reaction but because you fill us in on references. I've gotten some but definitely not all so I appreciate the little visuals for references
I loved the fact that they trolled themselves throughout the whole episode with "we should just stay out of it". Always takes guts to poke fun at yourself while you're doing something you're not sure you should be doing.
The other villains are parodies of comics, Mr. Freeze, Doctor Doom, Black Manta, Cheeta and Doctor Octopus. The one next to Doc Ock I believe is David Blane, a real life street magician.
Awesome reaction as always Dash! One of my favorites. For the first time I have a request! For Thanksgiving coming up I’d totally recommend the ‘A History Channel Thanksgiving’ episode Season 15 Episode 13, such a funny episode. Keep these reactions coming 🔥
Matt and Trey said this episode helped them discover they could make fun of any subject matter as long as they have their own characters saying "that's not cool".
Another great reaction vid dude! You are my favorite youtube reactor. I really like the fact that you ask interesting questions and start a debate during your videos. Keep it up man!
3:55 "What is wrong with you South Park!?" Oh Dash, you poor poor man, don't you know by now? Just when you think South Park has reached it's limit for controversy they raise the stakes even higher? 4:02 I knew this one was gonna stagger you. Love your material bro, keep doing what you're doing.
I mentioned this elsewhere but just in case you didn't see it... The problem with (I think) season 14+ is that each episode begins to build off of each other. So you really have to watch them in order for the most part. There are some random episodes that are sprinkled in between these chains of episodes. The episodes that relate to each other are S14 E11-13, S15 E7-8, S17 E7-9, S18 E9-10, All of S19 and the rest going forward.
12:16: From left to right, Mr Freeze-old school Batman Dr. Doom- the Hulk Black Manta-Aquaman Cheetah- old school Wonder Woman David Blaine- from the episode Jesus And Pals Doctor Octopus-Spiderman.
I swear I can't get enough of these reactions, watched a lot of them (music, rap, memes, series, anime reaction content) and you're really top-notch, we can see you're not overreacting, but you're still invested, you catch the good thing and pause to say relevant stuff while not overdoing it. Just keep up the good work !! After reacting to the main, most requested episodes, will you try reacting to episodes in a certain order ? Because for certains seasons (6-7, & each after the 15th), the watch order is kinda important because the storyline becomes more proeminent. Thanks again !!
Love this episode and your reactions. Always look forward to them. Also congrats on 10K man 🎉🎉 you should do a reaction to season 17 episodes 7, 8,& 9. Perfect for the holiday season lol
Jimmy's last name is the point of some contention; he was known as Jimmy Swanson in this episode ("Krazy Kripples"), but his name was changed to "Valmer" in "Up the Down Steroid" and all subsequent episodes. This was possibly referenced in "Tsst" when Cartman told him they were best friends, Jimmy asked him "What's my last name?", a question Cartman could not answer.
Yess!! Bonus I found myself in the recommended screen shot. My favorites part is when they get introduced as new Crips. "They Popped 13 bloods. And they brought us marshmallows and ginger ale."
My 2nd favorite episode! And it has two of my top ten lines. The" pass the blunt to the left" and probably one of my top 5 lines. ssssuuuunnnndddaaayyyy driver!!! You have no idea how much I freaked out that you had already reacted to this episode.! Rock on brother!
12:16 Mr. Freeze (looks like is name is Zero Degrees Kelvin 😂) Dr. Doom Black Manta Cheetah David Blaine (a joke from one of the banned episodes Super Best Friends) Doc Ock
This is the second video I’ve watched from you (first one being the fremium gaming episode) and I love your energy! You’ve just gained a subscriber☀️ keep it up man! Edit: And my favorite Superman is the original comic version of him
1:30 The creators remembered when Matt did the voice of Christopher Reeve and the creators then were like "This is so not cool" so they have Eric, Stan, Kyle and Kenny voice that side of the coin throughout the episode.
(MaryO F below has all the characters.) The one to our right of... Osama is Doctor Doom, Saddam is Cheetah (whom nobody would probably remember if not for Justice League on SNES), and Kim is David Blaine... not sure of the others. PS: Totally didn't see the octopus arms. 👍
12:24 3rd one is Dr. Doom, 4th is Black Manta, 6th is Cheetah, 8th is David Blaine, who has his own episode I recommend - "Super Best Friends". Since this is the original SP episode to include Mohammad, you might need to view it on an alternate site.
Pasa igual conmigo siendo gringo americano. Cuando veo peliculas o shows en español, especialmente de comedía, hay cosas que no capto por nada por falta de saber las referencias o jerga.
I Know what the Host said is so true, How the writers of South Park come up with, find, Remember stuff and combine it all , Lil' Roller, good Crips name for Timmy, And the Fat Albert Band reference From Way Back in the day ,, ! Hillarious and it fit in.
12:05 I see (from left to right) I think Mr Freeze from 60s Batman, Doctor Doom, Black Manta, a parody of Catwoman, that next guy after Kim Jong Il I don’t know, and Doctor Octopus.
Bro, I've watched South Park since it's come out. Huge fan. To see you enjoy it with how far they roll with certain aspects is awesome. Please never stop🤣I like the vidz before I even watch. Thanks again for great memories 😂🤘🏻Stay awesome
