Nice grab for the price. I would say baby sky blue metallic. Just got a Bally’s World Cup Soccer 94. It’ll be my first used pin and will require a little work, but looking forward to it.
I would leave it black personally. It will fit better with the legs and head. If you are dead set on a different color then I would go white. Congrats on the find!
The wearing of old machines is a double edge sword. It’s a good feeling seeing an arcade or pinball machine worn from play and good times. Not so much neglect and time. Glad you got this one! If you were to ask the citizens of Southpark, they’d suggest each leg a different color.
Yeah, I enjoy seeing machines that show signs of being used and enjoyed for many years. After all that's what they are made for, they weren't meant to be collected and shoved in a storage unit by someone just for the sake of ownership.
Great find, dude. I'm not a pinball wizard but I loved playing and seeing this. I can still hear the townspeople saying "hooray" in a monotone voice between each play lol
I have a Sterns "The Simpson Pinball Party" bought it brand new in 2004 and got used very little. I had it maintenance for the first time today and its not cheap. It cost me 375.00 dollars. I had all pinballs replaced and a chip added to the board that replaces the batteries that is connected to the board and he said it's good idea to remove the batteries cause they will leak battery acid and ruin the board. So now don't have to replace anymore batteries. The maintenance guy says it in pristine condition. Ask him about replacing with LED lights and he said it takes long time to replace them because there are 200 lights in the pinball machine. Love my pinball machine.
Simpsons Pinball Party is a great table! It's in my top 3 list of tables I want to add to my collection sometime. NVRAM is the way to go on these older machines, those old battery compartments are notorious for leaking and ruining boards. Glad to hear your maintenance guy is getting you all fixed up!
YOOO that's what's up Doug! Congratulations! What a sweet table. I only played it at the Pinball Hall of Fame in Vegas but enjoyed it. Hope you, the wife and baby enjoy it! :)
WOW Doug! That’s Wonderful. Congrats on the new baby, and for your new kid too. That South Park pin was a great deal, and I can tell it’s gonna clean up real nice. I’m excited to see the process. I vote for white trim. This video reminds me I have some work to do on my cabinet. Keep up the great work and have fun. 🤓👍👍
Hey man that's really cool and a great project to tidy up. I still fire up Pinball FX 2 to play the Southpark tables on that. In the UK, the prospect of owning a real pinball table is down to if you can win the lottery or not :D
Just discovered your channel. Great stuff. Just subbed! I also recently did a playlist on a South park as well, it was quite the restoration adventure! Looking forward to following your progress! Have fun with it!
@@cooltoy Oh thanks man, much appreciated! :) If you have any SP questions fire them my way as I been through it pretty much every single square inch lol. Good luck with your restore and nice price too, leaves lots of room to throw some money at it!!!
Congrats again on the new pin! I’m excited to see the progress you make fixing it up. I’d also choose white for the legs but you do what feels right for you!
Thanks for the vote, I'm stuck between choosing between those two colors myself, so I figured I weigh some added input to help me make my final decision.
Wow! What a great table! I would go white, but that’s just me. I have three kids and there’s nothing more that my eight year wants than a pinball table. I have been looking around where I live in eastern Washington, and nothing like that at all. Hopefully some day. I love working on stuff. I’m sure at the right time I’ll find a deal that needs some work. Myself I really want the Jurassic Park table like the one you have. Thanks for taking us along with the restoration process. You’re the best!
Congrats Doug, that is an awesome price man and the Sega cabs are so cool to me for some reason. Certainly not the best games but they did have a charm. Plus it's South Par. Have fun restoring this one man
The only issue I ever had with the SEGA pinball machines was the few that had the goofy rounded back box like Space Jam and Star Wars Trilogy. Fortunately South Park was not made that way.
Nice pin... the electronics looks surprisingly clean considering the rest of it looks like it was used to test sandblasting equipment. It's great to see this unit being saved and preserved. I'd stick with the original colours but I'd be curious to see how the other options shape up.
If I had somewhere to put it, I would have. But it would have just ended up in a storage unit if I bought it, and to me that just defeats the purpose of buying arcades/pinballs/collectibles etc. These things are meant to be played and enjoyed as much as possible, not stored away just for the sake of ownership.
That's awesome and wow does that cleaner do some work. I still want to get a real pinball machine. I think TMNT but it depends on timing and price. They aren't cheap but they are so fun. That was a great price
I'd love to pick up the TMNT one myself. I just struggle to force myself to fork over that amount of money again. Especially when there are still some older machines floating about that I can get for a fraction of the price. But it is certainly reassuring though when getting a newer Stern machine, that it's going to likely be pretty turn key ready and require little to no work outside of basic maintenance, and sometimes that peace of mind is worth the extra investment.
CoolToy, SERIOUSLY DUDE!!! One of my favorite pinballs OF ALL TIME!!! Mr. Hankey, Super Fart Bumpers, licking carpet mini game! This one has it all! I'll always have love for the first pinball I fell in love with, Haunted House, but if we're talking just pure fun, you can't beat South Park! Ok, now I'm going to watch your video :) vgv
South Park pinball gets a bad rap, but I've always loved it. The humor is fantastic in both call outs and gameplay modes, and the pin itself is very friendly to newcomers of pinball. I just need Color DMD to get through their supply issues so I can add the color display, these cartoon DMD animations where destined for the Color DMD treatment.
CoolToy, Funny story. I almost got to meet Trey Parker and Matt Stone. I was helping a friend at the time film a movie for a class at CU Boulder and after we finished shooting for the day, he said, two of his classmates were filming that night and were looking for people to help out. At the time, I was really tired, so I declined. Little did I know it was Trey and Matt, future South Park creators. A bummer for sure, but I did get to see South Park, before it became South Park. Trey and Matt did a little Christmas card video for each of their classmates and my friend at the time showed it to us. It was called the Spirit of Christmas. He said Trey and Matt were going to shop it around as a possible TV series. The humor was so raw and even racist, and had Jesus fighting Santa Claus. I said, there is no way they're getting this on TV. But oh how wrong I was. And I'm glad I was wrong. vgv
If you ever get out to Austin TX area, I'd love to get you a tour of our Multimorphic Factory and check out Weird Al's Museum of Natural Hilarity! Come hang out on my Twitch stream if you ever want to chat and talk pinball!
That would be awesome! I was born and raised in Houston and still have family down there. So next time I’m in Texas I may have to head on over and do that 👍
I've had 4 of these over the years. I really enjoy this game. I'd keep all the armor black. I prefer the Hammered Black which provides a textured look. I've seen them done up in white, just not a fan. Either way, congrats and thanks for saving a great game!
Yep, black or chrome is almost always the standard color schemes laid out by most major manufacturers over the years. The bright colored trim options didn't really start taking off until Stern started releasing their LE model options that included that sort of thing. I've always preferred my machines to stand out from one another as much as possible. Though I completely respect and understand the alternative to that where many prefer to see their machines more uniform in sequence of each other. To each their own.
echo clean is by far the best cleaner out on the market look up the company ...tell them you are a youtuber maybe they will send you a sample my company buys it in bulk ...look it up
Please don’t paint pinball legs. Powder coat them instead. It’s a pinball sin to paint them. But my choice would be powder coat baby blue. Nice find for that price. I think it’s a fun machine.
Patience finally paid off, I almost drive 6 hours to pick this game up from different seller months ago and their prices was much higher. I'll happily throw down some elbow grease to save some money and in the end, feel better about my machine overall. It's always nice to save a machine from disrepair when possible.
@@cooltoyWell done. Guy I know Mike Dymus did a 12 part series of videos restoring his SP. May want to check out.. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4hRIIpLOgJo.html
Check out Pinball Shenanigans RU-vid channel he did restore on one of these and there may be some helpful information in there for you as you begin restoring this one
The extra room in my house all resides upstairs. I don’t really feel like lugging pinball machines up stairs by hand. So the garage is one of my new hangouts 😆
Yeah the pandemic really blew the pinball market sky high. So many of these older machines are fetching double the price they were just a year or so ago. Demand for the machines keeps going up, so do the prices as a result. I see all sorts of crazy listings in my area Facebook marketplace. I laugh at most of them, then come to find out they sell within a few days, it's insane right now.
I don’t know what’s more surprising to me……..the fact that you are local, or that this pinball machine was nearer to me than you, or that I’m pretty sure I know the guy who sold it to you. Are you in Springfield?
Let me educate you. #1 Stern Electronics and Stern Pinball are two different companies technically. Both have made pinball machines over the years, and have had Gary Stern involved throughout but are still different companies. #2 Before Stern Pinball was a company, it was Sega Pinball and Data East pinball before that. Towards the end of Sega Pinball and it’s transition into Stern Pinball, South Park and Harley Davidson machines were being made. The machines at the end of those production runs have subtle differences between the earlier Sega Pinball runs. Things like Stern branding on the internal boards instead of Sega, a lack of a “Sega showcase” badge on their DMD and a few other little things here and there. So technically speaking this is a Stern Pinball unit and not a Sega Pinball machine, despite its obvious early origins.
You're not going to find a fully working solid state machine for $1500 or less in today's market, even the older EM machines that used to only go for $200-500 dollars are now hovering around the $1200 price point these days.
