I kinda doubt it. I don’t know why it’s so hard for you guys to pick up on it but they were taking pot shots at the anti woke crowd as much if not more than they were at Disney. Honestly I’m just glad to see that once again the South Park are expressing an opinion I’ve had for years. Overly preachy movies are bad, but the people who spend substantial amounts of time complaining about it instead of finding something else to watch are also bad.

Which is exactly what the criticism was largely about. Many of the people complaining about capitalism aren’t those who were stomped out by monopolies, but people too lazy to do things. There’s some real criticism of capitalism in there too, but the main joke is at the expense of those who refuse to learn or work, then claim every problem is capitalism’s fault.

Not like Nux is bringing any political philosophy INTO his cartoon videos, because he's not willing to do that kind of leg work. And that's pretty funny because there's a country called Israel that could have used some of those basics, instead of razing civilians to the ground like it's North Korean border in 1954. It's not about the money... It's about sending the message. And the algorithm funnels audiences to the biggest channels for pandering and presenting not very effective messaging. Do you even realize that all these cartoons he DOES review are still using underpaid Asian labor for animation? While SAG-AFTRA is striking? Didn't exactly end as a happy ending since Bob Igor was just humoring KK at the end, it seemed pretty evident he was still going to just pander on the cheap because well, this all started because of him. Which is fairly accurate. I mean he already confirmed to investors that he's going to make Pixar stop making original content and focus solely on sequels based on existing IPs. And then there's the Snow White delay and CG dwarves to pander even harder... y'know, after he ensured that dwarf actors didn't get jobs. It's hilarious how much real life feels like more of a parody than the parody.

I went to trade school but didn't get anywhere, tried college which I dropped out and then tried to take certification courses but life introduced every single type of drama from family pressure to hurry up and get somewhere because I was 25, friends suddenly turning on me and abandoning me for spiralling downward from all the pressure, sister's not letting me interact with the family pets to have comfort the family dog being a Rottweiler didn't like it and would play bite leading to injuries and the cockatiel only wanted to be let out or would bite me. I wanted to scream or hope for an animal to attack me so I could fight it or another human being, or just let me pet the animal while talking to it.

Careful on that. It’s actually a lot of schooling, a lot of work and later on more competitive than people realize. Obviously there’s money to be made but it’s not as simple an industry as South Park is satirizing.

And it's not competitive at all. Companies are begging for welders. He had a job before he even finished school.

Like common house plumbing may be easier, now a bigger house, industrial complex or even building a plumbing system by scratch is a pain in the ass. I am an electronics technician and there is much more complexity on stuff than most people would ever imagine.

The issue is that the trades that are considered 'easy' (home and commercial, not industrial, HVAC; electrician, etc) are usually competitive fields. However, welders have always made bank, thats not even a new thing, thats been a thing for decades. Industrial HVAC in St. Louis, Missouri is freaking rolling in dough right now. Last I heard from my stepdad working for the local union, work there is going for 70 bucks an hour. Its insane, but you have to be willing to work in those fields.

That's part of the joke, with all this technology at our fingers we can easily figure how to fix anything we would need a Handyman for. Its just an unwillingness to do so is what holds people back. I LOVE that the boys explain to PC Principal that Miles is a diverse character done well compared to what alt universe Cartman is (aka what is being done a lot) It also shows that the boys are clearly meant to represent the target demographic who are now upset about these things while the adults are just fine because they aren't the target audience and even blame the fans for not liking choices

It was a realization i had during summer break in 6th grade. Credentials are the only thing anyone cares about. You can be educated or experienced in any topic or field, and if you dont have the little slip of paper that says you underwent that training or education, you dont get traction. Rarely will the world give you a chance if you cant prove someone else witnessed it

The handful of companies ive gone to since leaving a previous employer wouldnt hire me on for much more than base wage, even given my pedigree. And i know, as a counterpoint, some companies will hire on moxy alone if you can bs the details enough. But systemically, i feel, its more advantageous to know someone to vouch for you than to be accredited and credible of your own self

So I just started doing things myself and realized there is virtually nothing a handyman can do that I can’t do myself with like a manual, RU-vid and a little effort. So I always tell people before calling an overpriced guy to screw in a lightbulb really ask yourself “can you not actually do this?”

@@menaatefadlywell the problem with a lot colleges is they are often overpriced for what you get. The second problem is they don’t give enough resources to help students get apprenticeships and internships when they finish. To many just shove them out the door and say “good luck”. I always say if you are doing post-secondary do your research, see the price, see how long the program is (is four years necessary or is can it be done in one or two?) and does it offer anything for employment placements or helps you in that regard. Also even though the show made fun of it none of those industries are going anywhere because of AI (I work and develop it so I know what's going on with it). So don’t be afraid to go for them, but you need to make sure your not overpaying for education.

On the topic of Collages being a waste of time. I wasted 2 of 3 years in college as a animation major. The course focused on mostly 3D animation while I wanted to work in 2D ( btw the college sold itself on teaching both which was not really true). While there I actually found a ton of resources and communities online where I could learn 2D animation. Got everything I needed. Left collage after that. Now I've actually worked official productions from home and I'm on track on joining one of the very few studios in my country that work on 2D projects. I'm not saying Collage is useless but it's not a necessity anymore

I was just getting ready to write a character in my upcoming story who wants to be a manga artist. She's in her first year of college and unhappy with the amount of time getting wasted studying modern art in her art classes, which she neither likes nor feels is relevant to her career goals. So she spends a lot of time online self-learning (she's formerly homeschooled, so this is natural for her). While I was prepping to write this story, I was watching a lot of vids by an author on plotting, the successful formula for every story, character development, etc. Someone in the comments mentioned she learned more from these free videos than she learned getting a BA in Creative Writing. And I paused, thinking back to all of my creative writing classes in college, and I was like yeah, she's right. No one taught us any of this stuff.

The one commentary that isn't the main one which I think is forgotten is how handymen are cleaning up in society because nobody knows how to do any fixing of anything. On top of that, nobody wants to be a handyman so the ones who are handymen are so busy that you can never find one unless your job is more lucrative for them than other ones. You have to sit around waiting until a handyman doesn't have anything else more lucrative lined up. It's a real problem that south park is satirizing with the situation on finding people with handyman skills in an age where everyone else got jobs that don't use those skills.

We were trying to find someone to replace the grass on our front lawn and it took 6 months to find someone because every contractor was completely book for over a year and when we found a guy he said it would be 3 months before he had an opening. We went with him because he was the only one available, and he did a decent job but, it is really close to winter now and don't know if it has rooted deep enough to survive all winter.
