Ebbett's Field, Candlestick Park, Sportsman's Park, Crosley Field, Polo Grounds.... I guess all the great classy names are used up. They sure hit a home run with Guaranteed Rate Park! How about Prime Rate Park, Foreclosure Field, Sub-prime Stadium 😂
When you have a jewel like Wrigley Field, Low Interest Rate Field is just blah. It has a parking lot and not too crowded and fireworks. That's about it
I'm 100% a SouthSide Sox fan..I live in northern Indiana, but not all that far from the field..I eat breath sleep MLB Baseball..no matter how bad or how good the SOX are..I F-NG love the SOX
Keep dreaming. Unfortunately the A’s are leaving for Vegas. Oh well. It was a good run for Oakland. The A’s have always been a team on the move. Vegas will be city #4 for them. Love the A’s in CA, but I doubt the $$$ is there for them.
Reinsorf used his political connections to get a tax passed to fund his new stadium, then after the stadium was built and got bad reviews, the state spent millions of more tax dollars making renovations lmao.
I got to go there during its first season. I liked the ballpark then. In some cases, the changes have been good, but I like the original configuration the best. It's still the only big-league I have been in outside of Detroit.
Veeck is pronounce Vek. The stadium opened un 1991 with a capacity of 44,000. And the Sox wasn't always 2nd fiddle to the Cubs. They out drew the Cubs from 1950 to 1992. Also thr 2005 title had everybody in the Chicago area excited. Almost 4 million people were at the celebration in downtown Chicago. Only half of the Chicago area baseball fans like the Cubs I've been a fan of the Sox since 1972.
It really should just be torn down snd rebuilt from scratch. One of the best ballparks opened just a year later in Baltimore and immediately made this place look outdated.
Need to blow this place up and build a new stadium where they should of in the first place, on Roosevelt. Should have kept comiskey just like the crappy Cubs did with their dump.
Before it went “retro” the park reminded me of Kaufman Stadium in KC. As much I loved the Sox, they should have moved to Florida or Denver when they had a chance.
