Hi About to start myself. Thx for the run down. I will be using some of the kit you had. Am wondering if the water filter is really necessary as my understanding is you can get town water regularly. Did you use it?
Hi. I used it a couple of times. I needed it as I was wild camping and therefore not necessarily stopping where there was a clean water source. If you are staying in campsites or B&Bs then you should be fine without. Enjoy!
I'm setting off on the SWCP in a couple weeks myself, was you happy with the Goal Zero 5? My primary navigation means will be my phone so I need a power supply.
Enjoy. I’m jealous! It was really good but couple of things to be aware of. Firstly to state the obvious it needs a decent amount of sun. I had it on my pack the whole time. Secondly don’t try to charge your phone directly from it. Doesn’t work well at all. Charge a power bank and then use the power bank to charge your phone at night. I had a couple of the goal zero power banks that clip into the solar panel. Worked well alongside an occasional charge in a pub or cafe. Enjoy.
Oh and one more thing the navigation is generally very easy so you won’t be using your phone much I suspect. I left my phone on airplane mode most of the time. Saves loads of battery and the gps still works.
@@walkonthewildishside8665 that's great advice thanks so much! Looking back are you happy with everything you took or is there anything you would of changed?
@@mikemeal355 very happy with my kit. Very glad I took my lightweight camping chair. Made all the difference in the evenings for a small amount of extra weight. Next time the only thing I think I’ll do it do it in trail runners rather than walking boots. Lighter more comfortable and dry a lot quicker.
