I told my husband we were going to start eating better. He thought I meant healthier but I meant BETTER! 😂 been making your recipes every night and everybody in my house asking "whats for dinner" the moment they step through the door. Got my kids clearing their plates asking for seconds, eating things they refused to eat before and my husband ain't never been so happy to rush home for dinner! Nobody's asking for fast food around here anymore. Thank you so much for what you do!❤
There are kids whose parent has died so no one has time to show them how to cook as the remaining parent is working so the family will survive. It is good of folks on the internet to show basic home cooking. That really helps. There are older folks who have not made some of those dishes in years. It is good for someone to make this FOR them....so they can remember and enjoy. Then there are the newly married folks who really need help cooking meals. Folks that watch these channels and encourage the writers not only help themselves to a variety of recipes but....help keep these channels going so other folks can have this out there. I also know that many folks who dont do well on a diet with bread and sugar need more Atkins cooks out there.
I grew up with both my parents, but neither of them could cook to save their lives. It's a real shame that good home cooking has been lost in so many households. Everything I know about cooking I had to learn on my own and with the help of people like AB who share their knowledge and experience with the world. In this modern age it is all too easy to take people like this for granted and never appreciate the effort they put in to sharing this stuff with others. This channel is a treasure trove of good recipes.
It is a fast food world now. When I was a kid our hamburgers were cooked in a skillet and served in loaf bread. It wasn't something we had very often. We ate from the woods and the river.
Katherine Rogers My 29 yr old son won’t cook he’d rather buy crap he can eat at moments notice ...He has poor eating habits ...I tried to show him (even write all recipes in note book easy to read ) but he don’t wanna know .. but I’m happy he has a skilled trade ..Maybe later in life he’ll want to cook for himself .. 😊
@@raifsevrence I grew up in the South and was blessed because both my Grandma's...my mom....and my dad could cook. I didn't appreciate it until I was living on my own...single...trying to make it pay check to pay check. I quickly realized that the money I would spend on a meal deal at McD's would buy me enough food to eat for three days if I knew how to cook it. This is one of the first things I learned how to cook and I still love it to this day. People, teach your kids to cook....learn yourself if you don't know how. It's a life skill for males and females. Pay no attention to these haters....I promise you, its all that processed fast food crap that will kill you....not some bacon, sausage and cabbage.
My big brother used to make this. Unfortunately, he died before I learned the recipe. It's been 40 yrs since I had this and now, thanks to you, I can make it for myself. Thanks AB for both the recipe and bringing back some great memories of my brother.
Man!!!! I've been cooking cabbage for years!!! Never had seconds of my own dish!!! I subscribed to your channel months ago...but you told me in one sentence what I've been doing wrong!!! When you said "cabbage has a lot of water"!!! I've been cooking my cabbage in water or stock for YEARS drowning the spices and flavors!!!! Didn't even know it was possible to cook cabbage without liquid! Tonight I followed AB's easy recipe...went back for SECONDS AND THIRDS!!!! I LOVE YOU MAN!!! YOU'RE TURNING me into a simplified cook Bro!!! Keep doin' what you're doin' and ima keep smokin' and grillin' wit ya!!!
Same thing for me! Every cook/recipe on RU-vid says to add water or broth. I learned today that IT DOES NOT need it!! This was sooo yummy and I ate almost the whole pot.
This was my Sunday dinner today. Simple and quick. Because I used Turkey bacon and Turkey sausages i I did use just a little coconut oil to cook them in, I also used a little old bay creole seasoning, but followed your recipe exactly, but this dish was awesome. I had two unexpected guests and they ate also and asked could they take a plate home 😂😂😂 so unfortunately there were no leftovers 😄 and we didn’t get to eat seconds, so I’m fixing it again tomorrow 😄😊👍🏽😘😘
A southern boy from Tennessee mountain hillbilly never had fried cabbage with creole seasoning before Yum Yum it’s my new favorite” Thank you Man for bringing the light
I tried the gumbo callards greens it was different but it was really good I did add some hot peppers with it I made Cajun corn bread it was good I will make it again
Folks need to be WATCHING This Video, EATING This Healthy FOOD... instead of going crazy Over the "Popeyes Chicken sandwiches".....Food like this will enhance Your Brain Activity....Help you make Great Choices and Decisions..Great Foods like this Will Make ya Wanna Dance and Move ya Soul🍜🍚🍲....Thanks so much for the Home Cooked Meal♥️♥️👨🏾🍳
Just so you know, there's more carcinogenic preservatives(nitrites) in this meal than there is in a Popeye chicken sandwich. This looks absolutely delicious, and I most definitely eat this type of food, but both the bacon and the sausage are absolutely loaded with nitrites. The problem with fast food isn't the food, it's the fact that most people only eat a limited variety. Potatoes might be very healthy for you, but eating them only fried 4-8 times a week, while also eating almost no other veggies is less healthy. And the meat that doesn't use nitrates, and instead use celery juice, which is loaded with nitrates, still contain nitrites. Since when you heat nitrates in the presence of animal fats, it's converted into nitrites. (Studies show nitrates themselves are probably healthy for you, but nitrites, even those made by converting nitrates, most definitely cause cancer).
AB No suggestions No Changes. Just Right. I have fried cabbage at least very other month. I love that you seasoned in layers as you added more cabbage. Great recipe. 👍🏾👍🏾
AB, I want to thank the RU-vid algorithm for suggesting your channel to me. I have made the cabbage and green beans. Both turned out great and I received wonder compliments on them. AB, you have leveled up my cooking game during the quarantine! Thank you for educating me and improving the quality of my life with this amazing food!!
Mr AB you have helped me become such a better cook these past 2 years. My family really enjoys your recipes. Currently waiting on a cookbook! I came back for a refresher 😂
Update just made this for my wife's birthday holy s#@t .🤯 On point ! Made some corn bread , honey butter and smoked ribs and bbq chicken. Thanks again 👍
You can buy kreloe seasoning in 'other countries' Isle's in bigger sainsburies supermarket, if you can phone and they don't have it, tell sainsburies a LOT of people use the internet and travel loads these days, so please put in their order for the shoppers, thank you to them and cross your fingers! Now I've a decent dish to use it on cos I love cabbage but plain boiled all the time is boring! Many thanks.
My son and I have tried it fifteen times since he got old enough for solids. The last two times, we added orange bell pepper in place of onions, and my son ate three whole bowls. This is a very VERY picky autistic child. Thank you for this video ❤️
My husband and I ran into this video late one night. When it went off I told him I have all the ingredients and a box of corn bread. We actually went in the kitchen around 11 o'clock at night and made this cabbage. It was so good it is now in rotation at least twice a month. Thank you so much!!!
Omg, I’ve made fried cabbage for years, but when I tried it this way for New Years, it knocked my socks off. It is soooo good. I kept picking & tasting it bc it tasted like nothing I’ve had before. Thanks!! 😁
I make cabbage and bacon and it's pretty good. But when I saw yours, I was in 7th heaven. Garlic and sausage and that creole seasoning. Amen and Hallelujah!
I make fried cabbage with bacon about once a week, but what you just made is far superior to mine! It's all about the flavor & Man you know how to cook! Thanks for the awesome recipe!
I also make this about twice a month and this recipe I have not seen but I am going to try it. Too bad that there are a lot of great southern recipes that don't go mainstream if it wasn't for individuals like you that keep it alive, Thank you
Wow! This is the only the second time I made fried cabbage and used your recipe today. So flavorful and delicious. I would give you 10 thumbs up if I could. This will be my go to recipe for fried cabbage. Thank you!
Hey nephew I'm old skool just started watching you cook, I've tried about 10 of your recipes and I love it easy to follow and taste great. Keep doing your thing cuz and I'm going to keep cooking and grilling with you.
I just made this ( without hot sauce ) its delicious...I added red and yellow bell peppers too with the green.... so much flavor.. took it to work...they went crazy for it... this will be my go to meal.. LOVE IT !
I had been watching this video, and showed it to my wife. She cooked the fried cabbage and I just can't get enough of this cabbage. It's the best I have ever had. Great job AB.
I made this last night. I didn't have any Creole seasoning but, I threw in four chili peppers from my garden. My girl went crazy over it! We both love it.
I've been making this once a week. My family loves it! If we have leftovers I put it in egg roll wrappers with Swiss cheese. Thanks for the great recipe!
I thought the same thing and was hoping that people who are watching this have some sense of cooking and realize garlic takes seconds and not minutes...
I've followed your recipe three times and enjoyed it every time. I add a few jalapeños with my bell peppers. My wife is from Mexico and really appreciates the heat on a keto-friendly recipe. Thanks for the easy to follow instructions!
😩 I think this is best dish I have seen yet. I love cabbage, but I’ve never had it with bacon and smoked sausage. I’m definitely gonna try this. Thanks!
I was just thinking about making this. I love how every time I have a hankering for something I can come to your channel and find it being made step by step. Sometimes I just come to your channel JUST to watch you cook because you make it look so satisfying. Like a cooking ASMR. Lol You are the BOMB! Your video quality and angling is amazing. You’re thorough, descriptive and you educate. Not to mention, the instrumentals you play are dope! I be grooving and learning. Haha I appreciate your channel! I wasn’t really taught how to cook growing up so finding your channel is so perfect for me. When I get married, my husband will be good and fed, thanks to AB! Haha love you and thank you so much for sharing your gift! 🧡

Man I am so glad I saw THIS... now I'm watching him EVERY Sunday tring to learn SOMETHING. God bless u brother be cause every body can't do this like u💪
So I decided to cook this today and I must say; my family fell in love with it . I’m so glad I found your video and will be watching other videos made by you ! Thank you ❤️
I always caramelize the onions in the bacon grease. By caramelizing them, it brings out more sweetness. I use about double the onions you do. I remove the onions and bacon before cooking the sausage. If I'm intending it to be a main course, I usually use fresh raw pork sausage cut into 1" chunks. Then I add the cabbage with a stick of butter. When it's close to being done, I recombine the bacon and onion. Salt an pepper are the main spices I use, sometimes with a little cayenne or turmeric. I agree that the best side benefit of cooking this is the way it smells up the house. If I want to kick it up a notch I add a couple of teaspoons of Tobasco sauce or some diced jalapenos or habaneros. Mostly I use fried cabbage as a side dish for pork or chicken. I have it once or twice a month.
I thought this looked like it would taste so good. I made it last night with some cornbread on the sude. We eat spicy food but i had not used a cajun seasoning before in cooking. So, I only used a Tablespoon of the cajun spice. It was perfect! Thanks for sharing the way you cook this with all of us.
Thx AB 4 sharing you blessings with us as a 22blackman I’m learning to not be so shy & scared of cooking thank you AB for helping me build my confidence being on a stove I really appreciate you 😊
Your side dish recipes have taken my Bbq game to a new level, no longer do I have to ask my wife to do greens, cabbage, or green beans or potato salad, now my whole meal it tight!!!!!!
Dang, now I have to go find the oxtails video that shows everything together...I swear I try and pay attention, then I start reading the comments, SQUIRREL - off to another video😂😂😂
I was surprised how many people have never heard of one of the best dishes ever made. Even some southerners don't know. Pinto beans and some cornbread, I have it made.
@Smoking & Grilling I don’t know if you’ll read this or not but I made this for supper tonight with the limited items I had it was perfect thank you sir very very much. God bless you and your family.
