It might look a little different this year than in years past, but that’s not taking away from the excitement of the Southern Heritage Classic. It’s actually adding to it.
Jackson State did play the classic last year. Initially they did want to pull out but agreed to play to the end of their contract with the Southern Heritage and w)o penalty. 2022 was their last year of obligation. A new University was sent to play 2023.
They still had 2 years left on their contract so they broke their contract. The only reason they played last year is because when they initially tried to pull out of the deal it was 7 months before the season leaving Tsu without an opponent and tsu and Mr. Jones sued
The classic lost about half of it's people that usually comes here. Last year was amazing but this year was lack luster. Not a whole lot of tents...and the energy was not the same. They need to bring back JSU...end of story.
