I lived in Basilicata until 1999 have returned several times. It is the poorest region in Italy. But, the people are the most friendly. Now living in Canada.
Not the poorest in relative terms, GDP per capita is way higher than the average of South Italy. In absolute terms its the second poorest, but It has only 570k habitants, It's understandable. IDH is also higher than that of other southern regions.
I have family that live in Basilicata, more specifically Rionero in Vulture. I wanted to see how beautiful the homeland in which my ancestors came from is.

Fantastic video. My parents were both born in Basilicata, in a small town called San Fele. It's around 20 - 30 minutes from Rionero. I thought your pronunciations were quite good... the only one I would correct is Monticchio (the two lakes). It's pronounced 'Montickio'. Great job 👏

those two lakes at the ending are volcanic lakes and the place is called Monticchio, a fraction of different towns neraby, one being Melfi, which is another gorgeous looking borgo you must absolutely visit if get back there, a medieval gem like very few others
Although I'm in Puglia, near to Basilicata, I've never seen most of those places. Thanks for the video, it is amazing... It's a pity you didn't visit Castelmezzano and Pietrapertosa, where you can experience "Il volo dell'angelo", provided you are courageous enough.
