@Emily Krouse Smith Right!! we do it out of love, and if you lived down here you'd know it's all in good fun. The smiles and southern charm is for visitors so that we don't accidentally upset your delicate composition...
LoL, I thought the same thing. "Don't you dare say that a cookie is a biscuit. I will fight you, like, so hard right now." Like, you can't put delicious sausage gravy on a scone.
@kyndakrazy Because it is a biscuit. Scones are dry and hard. Biscuits are fluffy, covered in butter and taste excellent smothered with gravy.🤤 You try eating a scone with gravy and then come back and tell me that they're the same as a biscuit.😩 Watch your mouth!
The Magnolia Project what kind of crap scones have you been subjected to? Also, scones and biscuits are in two completely different categories... scones are sweet, eaten at breakfast or tea (or when ever because they’re so moist and delicious, especially with clotted cream) and biscuits are savory and eaten with other savory foods and savory food eating times. There’s no legit comparison!
@@patmccrutch3927 Biscuits can be sweet too, they're mainly eaten with breakfast in the US but if you're a Southerner then theyre served with every meal, and I agree they are nowhere near the same thing as a scone. Scones are gross biscuits are the business. Biscuits and coffee truly bring me back to my childhood. Monday mornings before track practice. And sunday mornings with grits, eggs, sausage and fried diced potatoes sauteed with chopped onions, red peppers and fresh parsley. Yum. God, the nostalgia.
agreed... yet I find their sincerity, and sense of kindness to be quite charming and moving. in fact I've just put a visit to America's south on my "to do" list.
ILTC better make it quick cause before long it’s gonna be hot like the devils underside…again. It’s not the heat that’s bad it’s the humidity so I wish you well
@@wesfreneaux9728 i'm an Australian. you think we dont "do' heat? you made my day. hilarious! we are 40% tropical and mostly desert... the Simpson, the Great Sandy, the Nullabor, etc. the Sahara is a quaint kids sandbox. also, my country is currently, literally burning..... when satan misbehaves...he is sent to aus, your country gets a trifle sweaty?...ohhh, bless your heart
@@kaiceecrane3884 clearly...you've never been here. the "deep south" is not desert. you have rainfall. have you driven over a thousand kms without seeing another car? the only continent drier or with less population density is the antarctic. you're unfamiliar with the uv levels, and their effect also. does 1 in 3 louisianans get skin cancer ?
When he talks about that tin with the cats on it, his accent is surprisingly accurate and consistent. And I would imagine better than the other guy's go at a Scottish accent. Great video.
The southern accent is derived from the Scottish. Most of us down here have direct lineage to Scotland or Ireland. It's evolved throughout the decades but it essentially began as a mix of American colonial, Scottish and Irish accents.
@@gunfighterzero A fair few weren't Scottish: Cherry Bakewells are from Northern England, Cheddar Cheese is from the Southwest and English Breakfast Tea is well English. Plus they didn't include tablet which is pretty much a quintessential Scottish snack. I didn't really mind though, it was fairly accurate. Could have thrown in the superior Whisky though to give Matt a taste of proper whisky.
@@anelisamorgan8590 eh its all a joke, they are probably good friends. His insults and digs are for comedic effect. Kinda like how he and others do the same to us Yankees or even each other if they are rival states etc Kinda like how the Scottish dude made snooty remarks in the other videos. Just 2 guys taking the piss out eachother.
I love the Scottish guy. It was clear that he only brought his favorites and Matt just peed all over them. In the other video, while he didn’t like everything, he wasn’t a jerk about it. Usually Matt’s funny but in this one, he just seemed rude.
I'm a southern girl and absolutely LOVE Scottish snacks and Scottish foods! I had the pleasure of visiting Scotland in 2017 and had the best food! Scotland has an abundance of fresh beef (guess where Angus came from y'all!), seafood and produce! You have to also try sticky toffee pudding and tablets!
I also went to Scotland in 2017!! In October. Nine days driving around the country. Never had one bad meal while my hubby and I were there. The seafood dishes were my favorite. And I stopped at every Tesco and Sainsbury’s grocery store we found so I could stock up on snacks from their gluten-free section (I have celiac). Tons of choices. The trip was amazing.
I'm Egyptian and I used to live in Scotland for a little while, so I've tried gluten free versions (I've celiac) and casein free versions of these foods.
DUDE, don’t toss the twinnings!!!! You sir have lived a sheltered life, Walkers is the bomb and yes they have them in my Walmart in Georgia, 7 Dolly’s out of 7! Bless his heart he has no taste.
This is the first time I"ve heard a Brit endorse something that's labeled "English"! 😂 Usually I assume it's just a Marketing tactic for the benefit of us Americans, e.g. "English" muffins. Good to know that English breakfast tea is authentic.👌
In Matts defense, while Twinnings English Breakfast is a fantastic hot tea us Southerners tend to develop a strong complex about hot versus iced tea, especially while its summer... and in a lot of the South mid-september still qualifies as summer with temperatures often still hitting the mid-80s (30c +/- a degree or two for y'all metric chaps). We kind of develop a repulsion to hot beverages between May and October.
Top tier. I made sweet tea with earl grey and Tetleys at the beach in late 2019. No one drank it,but of course Lipton is the household gold here. They thought it was stale!!
I like that finding the danish cookie tin and it is filled with sewing supplies is so universal. At what point did everyone decide hey let's keep our sewing supplies in this cookie tin?
I’m glad there are southerners who really do love food, not just southern food but everything, America is a melting pot and the south experimented a lot in the past, why stop now?
Matt's descriptions are hysterical. Oreos are terrible since they moved manufacture to Mexico. They are dry. There is so little filling that they separate in the package. Walkers Shortbread is awesome. Delicious.
He was so mean in this video 😱😢 why Matt? I thought Southerners talk trash after the company leaves😂 I love anything Walkers. I’m from Memphis TN and I’m ScotIrish. I would have hugged Christopher and eat everything, asked to keep the tin for my Mama and told him how much I have always wanted to try Walkers Mincemeat pies.
@@nkelherik I was told as a yankee that if a southerner rags on you or gives you shit its cool. But if they are being super polite and over the top with manners you are on thin ice.

@@JSchaffer214 Indeed! My Scots-Irish ancestors who sailed over to the "new" world and meandered down the Appalachians to Texas approve of your comment😉
*Note please- Southern people are NOT generally so rude or inhospitable- Matt is either having a blood sugar crash, or a mild monthly hormonal fluctuation. Apologies to Scotland and Scots*
Thank you. As a transplanted Southerner, living in New England and used to Northern brusqueness, I was reeeeeaaaly embarrassed by Matt's responses. Everyone I know up here would consider his behavior rude.
Almost 10 minutes of him crushing the Scottish guys childhood! I have been to Scotland and LOVE Irn Bru and most these snacks. Irn Bru fudge is THE BEST!
I'm from North Carolina and I have a strong southern drawl. I love the Scottish guy's southern impersonations. I give him 10 out of 10 shrimp n grits....lol...XD
The way he talks about the food makes me wonder if Scottish food has less sugar than American food. America’s food has so much sugar in it compared to other countries.
I have tried every single one of these, and I have actually LIKED every single one of them. And I'm from the mountains of West Virginia. Oh wait...my area was settled by Scots and Welsh....
I order them off Amazon at least 4 times a year! 😂 They are my go-to snack. My 8 year old likes collecting the wrappers to make stuff (that I eventually throw out.)
My family is from Scotland. My grandma came here when she was just shy of age 2. My first attempt at making the family recipe for shortbread (much like the Walker ones, only richer) I misunderstood the measurements, and they turned into little doilies. 🤣😂🤣 Super delicious, extremely rich, looked like delicate lace circles. 🤣😂🤣
