Chris, your favorite Scottish man, is back to try a whole truckload of gas station snacks alongside Matt, including pecan logs, hot pickles, Little Debbies, and Buc-ee's nuggets!
Do it! Matt & Chris live 24 hours in a Buc-ee's truck stop. Do interviews with random strangers. Try all the treats. Run the register for awhile. Do. All. The. Things.
All the highland games all over the south it shouldn't be hard. Only problem is we can't get real haggis in the US unless somebody makes it at their house out of animals they butchered.
I'm that way with Dark Chocolate Filled Oreos. smh I have to force myself to walk away from the package after having just one Oreo (70 calories). Like with radiation, time, distance and shielding works.[s] Otherwise, I'll have three or maybe seven. 🙄😂
I love Little Debbie's, Redfish (hey from Granite Falls!) especially Nutty Bars and pecan twirls and OMG THE COFFEE CAKE, but to me the fudge rounds are too processed-tasting. They taste powdery, or something... I just don't get 'em like y'all do somehow. As Briscoe Darling would say, though, 'More power to ye!', I would never look down on a person's snack choices!
Lots of Norwegian influences in north west Scotland and up in Orkney and The Shetland Islands. Some very Norse sounding place names and accents as well.
I can testify little Debbie is alive. Her family just had a wedding at my hotel! They gave all their guest little Debbie merch....I was hoping for them to tip me with some merch
Thank you for the clarification! I’m a trucker and was instantly aggravated when he brought out buc ee’s food and called it a truck stop. Out of principal, I have never, and will never set foot on buc ee’s property. Buc ee’s is for four wheelers, not eighteens.
Also I like the Scottish mans point about us rushing around too much. Sure maybe our pickle pouches are indicative of how the south is speeding up 🥺 let’s take a minutes to pull over and put on some pickle gloves
Right?!? They have ample parking for semis....its a shame they don't let our truckers stop.... Hell...they dont even let their supply trucks stay long...deliver our crap...and get the hell out... (My husband and I aren't fans of buckees...lol)
Matt is so right about the boiled Peanuts, they're best when they come on a brown bag , from a random guy on the side of the road, usually with a steaming kettle going, ( at least that's how I remember it, lol).
When i lived in Ellijay, Ga for two years, i helped a guy who made boiled peanuts right at the end of his driveway and which was right on a main road. Never had so much fun and I absolutely fell in love with boiled peanuts. I miss them all the time living back in wyoming lol
Bless his heart, Scottish guy doesn't like sweets, period, it doesn't seem. Savory or spicy he's all over it. He & Matt make a good pair. Definitely need to have Matt try Scottish foods.
I ate raw peanuts from my Grandpa’s farm as a kid. The best taste ever. I miss the days of ravaging family gardens and watermelon under the mimosa trees.
I LOVE Buc-ee's! I am a transplanted Texan and love everything about my new home state, but as a natural-born spelling whiz, I admit I was wary of this store because the weird spelling PLUS the hyphen seemed calculated to torture me. After a friend dragged me in and I experienced its wonderful delicacies, I not only forgave the spelling but embraced it. It's not a truck stop so much as an emporium of delights.
Hated the pecan roll which is like mana from the gods! Scottish guy's forgiven because of his beautiful blue eyes 😉. Has he tried a warmed up moon pie yet?
Those beaver nuggets are dangerous. We bought some during a recent road trip through Texas and my mother--who is NOT a sweets person--could not stop munching on them. They're like caramel corn without getting the hulls stuck in your teeth...best thing EVER.
Need to really try buc-ee’s large jerky counter were you can pick and choose your own jerky. It’s the one out here in Texas going between Houston and San Antonio. They have fresh jerky from all sorts of game, including traditional ones. It’s the best! Lots of people from Tx. stop there on way to New Braunfels. Favorite place!
There was this one place on Highway 20 (not interstate!) way up north past Atlanta...an "old dude on the side of the road"...best boiled peanuts! This is going back 20 years... maybe still around?
Up GA-20? I might have to check whenever I get up that way again. I used to love one right off Beaver Ruin in Lilburn, but that was a few years ago. I'm more in toward downtown in Atlanta these days and sadly you really have to go OTP to get boiled peanuts.
I was about to say: I’d always get boiled peanuts from some rando on the side of the highway in the middle of nowhere Georgia/Alabama on the way home from my grandparents.
I love boiled peanuts I can't lie Definitely not the spicy kind Those from a truck stop are from a can Only good when you can't get them from a roadside man Red skin, white skin.. Either or Just please give me more
Dragons aren't really a Scottish thing, more of a Welsh thing. Unicorns are a Scottish thing The Welsh literally have a wicked cool dragon on their flag
I brought boiled peanuts back from a trip to Florida to my friends in Michigan one year and they just popped the whole peanut in their mouth without peeling them LOL
You still a vice versa video with Scottish treats for the southern guy. 😂 still *need* I hate it when I'm typing fast and skip a word. Thought the word, but didn't type it.🤦♂️
The Pickle police is not unnecessary!! Big rig drivers NEED foods they can eat while driving. My friend used to eat his lunch while on I40 doing 65mph.... You often don't gave much time for sitting around. So something like that is PERFECT
There is a man on the side of our main street who sells boiled peanuts (his sign says p-nuts) and he started about 8 years ago as a fundraiser for his church. he is STILL boiling them peanuts and they are the best boiled peanuts i ever had, the other shops and random men on the road do not compare. im sure his are blessed by the Lord because of the support he gave for his church.
I'm a Georgian, and a life-long aficionado of great Southern cuisine, but I am NOT a fan of boiled peanuts, chitlins, fried gizzards or crawdads. But I purely love me some Brunswick Stew.
If the chitlins are cooked in the next county down wind, I like all of the above. But who's Brunswick stew? The best I ever had was my sister's made with a chicken, a squirrel, and a rabbit with every veggie she could find.
Agree with others here. There are just too many varieties of Brunswick stew. Having had it from Brunswick County VA (the HOME of Brunswick stew), I love THAT variety most.
@@BillB23 As far as I know I've only had stew that was made from the bits and pieces left over from bar b q pigs or cows. The best I had was in a little bbq joint hidden on the back streets in Oklahoma City. That place is long gone and I haven't had any in over 25 years. Mind you, I have only had the stuff 2 times. Matt did the one video where OKC was on list as best bbq.. He kinda wondered why? Well, wonder no more... OKC has some of the best.. I can attest. In GA where I was born and raised.. The only BBQ I ever had was an occasional (maybe 3 times a year) treat from a place called Old South Bbq in Smyrna GA.
Buc-ees IS NOT A TRUCK STOP !!!! Buc-ees HATES TRUCKERS, and will put a nasty sticker on them if they enter the parking lot.... and even CALL THE COPS or TOW. Buc-ees SUCKS !!!!!
Freshly boiled peanuts with lots of salt in the water are very good. Not those in service station that have been in their water for a looog time. You used to be able to get pickles in the movie theaters in the 50's and 60's, great with popcorn and a big Coke. I don't know about now. I haven't been to a movie theater in 20 years, about the same time that Hollywood actors became political commentators.
Not only have the gas station ones been in their water a long time, but they go in and out of the cooler if it's not a 24 hr store. Sometimes the desperation takes over though 🤷🏼♀️ I've been known to buy canned and heat them in the microwave, which is a little more sanitary imo
Little Debbie..Little Debbie..I'm a comin'on home baby..cause you make me walk like a ...anyway the boiled peanuts, the Pee-can log wow that was spot on.Spent a summer in Georgia and got hooked on cornbread, cornbread stuffing and boiled peanuts!...ooh and catfish!
@@katerinakiaha6925 Well, we boil the young "green" peanuts, before they are dried and roasted for peanut butter or candy, LOL. It is seasonal, therefore a delicacy here, haha.
