I received a request on how to make Southern Smothered Cabbage, so here's how to make it. Feel free to adjust and customize this recipe and make it yours. Just use your imagination.

Ingredients:
3 1/2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1 large white onion
3 pounds of cabbage (you will need to adjust the spices when using 4 pounds or more)
2 tsp kosher salt
2 teaspoon black pepper
2 teaspoon onion garlic
2 to 3 teaspoons minced garlic
1 tablespoon paprika
3 tablespoons water

Someone gave me several bags of salad mix (cabbage, carrots, green onion, kale, & other various greenery) they make a great salad, but I wondered what would happen if I cooked it like cabbage, so I tried to find a good recipe and found this. I followed what you did except replaced the cabbage with a couple bags of mix. (Saved the dressing packets for another recipe) It was a HUGE hit. We served it with rice and agreed that this would be something we make several times a week. Now on to the corn bread and other videos. Thanks! (subbed)

Just tried this for dinner and it was great! Thank you for the recipe. I simply switched out the paprika for some Sazon. Great pair with corned beef brisket and corn bread. YUM!

I just made the meat lovers version of this recipe. It had kielbasa’s and thick cut bacon. I also added a can of diced tomatoes, and sauté green peppers. It was a hit with this crazy weather we are having.

For an Italian version. Mix cabbage with your favorite pastas ( ziti ) sprinkle with parmasian cheese. Hot pepper flakes.
