Man I love SWAC....... You buy A ticket for the game and you also get to attend a BOTB which is included by default!!! There’s no conference like SWAC!!!
Love shoulda brought you home sealed it for me and that was early in the battle. Man these arrangements SU throwing out are the absolute business!!! My God!!!
Loved da adjective,, and I believe ur right, the arrangements for SU are tighter than my first wife 🤬,,,,,,,,,both arrangers and bands are great to me and I marched in a HBCU MARCHING BAND about 40 + years ago, sax 🎷,, choice of music and the arranger makes the difference to me,,,,, best thing is I hope you youngsters are having fun ,cause the real thing happens next,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
@@sirs.746 True dat. FACT. 5 str8t Head Shotz. Boombox 2019 @ Memorial aka Mumford 🏟 North. Then da Jackson 🚔👮 forced da JUKE 2 flee da REDRUM scene.....
I witnessed this in person and SU’s arrangements and overall sound sealed the deal! JSU sounded great as well but I definitely give the edge to SU!!!!🔥🔥🔥
@M. Lamb I'm a huge Chaka Kahn fan as well as Cheryl Lynn and that would be great for them (SU) to incorporate I know you I live you. When i first heard Chaka sing that live in person i nearly passed out. Also had the pleasure of seeing Cheryl live as well. Wish they were still huge today, such great artists.
Even though Southern has gotten away from some of their regular hits, they absolutely get the win and early in the battle. The arrangements Southern writes are on a whole different level. Always emulated, but never duplicated.. #SU
I'm 6 min in so far I'm going SU in 5th.. thiugh when I got to min 7 JsU seem to finally wake up.. nah I'm 12 min in now I dont see JSu coming back halfway in SU got 5th
I thought JSU was much more aggressive in the Zero Quarter. Southern took it to another level in the 5th and took the win. Plus no one can complain about SU's book this year because they played almost all brand new arrangements.
K. Ramon you must have the rest of JSU video cause I couldn't find it. At some points, from all the vids out there SU was a lonely band in the zero. I was wondering where the rest of the film was. JSU played but I heard way more playing from SU.
jheht2000 we weren’t late to the zero qtr. We always play throughout the entire game. We’re like the only band in the SWAC that does it. We just have that much endurance and book
Killa Kev your sound is unmatched! There's no one even close bruh...Video quality is extremely nice too...Keep it up for band culture, we definitely appreciate you. ✊
I really enjoyed the Toni Braxton, Aerosmith, and Shirley Bassey!!! Great job to both programs ❤️❤️❤️ it's good to see rivals bringing out the best in each other. Also KillaKev this audio is amazing. Super clear!!!
The only thing about that arrangement I thought about. When the song came out was Tuba part of it. That staff did a great job writing an the band did a great job executing.
I'm a ride or die boom all day but I cannot deny that southern had took this all the way clean sweep, their pen whooped us this day. It's like after crankfest the boom had got laxed in southern caught them slipping, same thing happened in 17.They let Southern control the pace of the battle and it cost them. The boom was doing okay until they play the lions tigers and bears that's what gave them an L, it sounded unsure. The intensity the boom had at the end of the battle is what they should have started with. Even on a weak year you still got to watch Southern
HBCU Culture is the clear winner here...Both Bands Put on a damned good show from zero all the way to the 5th; These two right here are definitely the best of the best....
This Was A Heavy Weight Title Fight There Is No Better Place To Be Than In The SWAC And No 2 Better Bands Then The Juke And The Boom...... This Was An Epic Battle!!!!!
I heard everything I needed to hear after the first 2 songs lol. Tone quality, intonation, balance, articulation, clarity, technical difficulty, quality of arrangements... Southern won in every single category 😂😂 and they can crank it up when they want to. Damn that's crazy. Never heard a HBCU band like that before.
Great battle! I didn't like that JSU ended it with "HOT THUG" before "Victory Lap". I was expecting something completely new. Should have left that song in the Zero Qt
Former Juke from 95. Thoroughly enjoyed this battle. This was a nostalgic battle for me. The BOOM sounded like the old boom. The BOOM never had to play loud to compete. They had arrangers that new how to write to bring out the essence of the band and that's what I heard tonight. The current arranger is good and hope to hear the boom return to its sound that they were know for. Great job to both bands.
@@vivecasufan4life595 right u noticed not one word about SU and this 5quater the only name he mentioned is jsu like SU didn't destroyed jsu clearly he a jsu fan
Just taking a look back from a few years ago. What I didn't notice at first, is that Jackson State brought their own garbage bags at (24:45) the end to put those arrangements in! Total domination. All I can say is, learn counterpoint, counter melodies, overtones, and voicing.
Very disappointed in JSU. Y’all know SU is going to come strong. SU with the win Flawless victory

JSU delivered... That was the best SU sounded all season... SU came with select songs just for this game... You didn't hear those songs anymore after that during the season... The Boom made SU step up.
DeJohn Tellis-Oliver was up brah, just responding to your point. Other than white lines and bop, all these songs were played once. No debate, jus stating facts.
Su is a different breed when it comes to 5th quarter jsu kinda had them zero quarter but 5th su clapped back harder LADIES AND GENTLEMEN OUR 1ST PLACE WINNER IS......SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY
How come JSU didn't bring that type of energy in the beginning of the 5th like they did in the end? Boy I'm telling you bands be getting brave when the opposing bands packing up and leaving.😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
DeJohn Tellis-Oliver Trap, as in Southern’s first song was articulate, dynamic, for the most part clean. JSU tried to play similarly and got exposed, the difference was clear. This happened every time SU played and JSU responded, thus the term trap.
Kayla was eatingggggggg 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿 sis was starving and had a whole plate tonight!!! I ain’t ever seen anything like it! Su band was great.....but Kayla did it for me
Most def!...Maybe it's because i dont follow them too much, but found it rare (but amazing) that Kayla performed back to back counts that the other 2 had to catch onto at mark 16:18 . They had great energy fa sho
Listen I have watch This three times this being my third I was biased brah I don’t like SU being that I’m an rattler 4life but southern opened up a can musically on JSU y’all better come better for 2020
DeJohn Tellis-Oliver su trumpets was definitely heard and they su is smaller than Jackson in every section but trumpets. So how was su louder than them? 🤔
JSwho won the 0 but SU killed they ass in the 5th...imo.. I am loving how Jaxn has bounced back and they're not just tubas anymore. I finally hear trumpets. And their arrangements are fire this year... #unbiasedSUfan
like i said once before... EVERYBODY BOOST JSTATE AND SAY THEY GOOD BECAUSE OF CRANKFEST... but HAVE NOT YET TO MATCH IT DURING GAME TIME.... you wont be listed as the BEST if you’re not CONSISTENT.!!!!
ya boy beezy They are consistent. They are clearly one of the best. If you want to say that then you have to call out SU. Me and some band head were talking and everyone was kinda surprised. SU has all these songs but they save them until the Bayou Classic and BoomBox. Doc never did that. They put on a show every week. It’s a new Era though like everyone stated.
Damariun Wilson yes I hate how they keep “saving” stuff like nobody wants to keep hearing the same songs for two years just so y’all can put on a show at the END of the season.
Damariun Wilson true .. i said the same thing and the only thing ppl told me was “time change.. cnt stay in the 90s and early 2000s forever.”.. wit tht being said since we are now in the era of crankfest and stuff... dnt just produce when you see the S once.. ppl claim jstate better than the S then you should prove it not only at crankfest but at the game too..
Well yall know what this weekend is!!!!! 💛💛💙💙💛💙💛💙 Boombox!!! This will be one for the record books.... SU put on a band clinic... 🤦🏾♂️... Every song, every note, articulation, power... See ya at the classic!!
The Boom lost all their intensity as soon as the 5th hits and that doesn't make sense to me at all. That cool wind and dark sky should make you turn into a beast. A great battle non the less.
"The Best Band In The Land".................💙💛💙💛💙💛!!! Ooooh y'all we're also featured in another rap song. I think it's 2-Chains latest. Why not get the best???😂😂😂
JSU Tubas are amazing! Trumpets not so much. JSU songs are ok but I like SU songs better. I like SU's arranger. I don't like everything he writes but I like most of it and that he's not afraid to write technical stuff. And the band plays it well. I NEVER thought I would say this but Southern is loud and CLEAN with their music. And they had a pretty sound. I like the new Southern. The only thing I miss is when the whole band would come in blowing right on the downbeat, old Southern style. But they probably did that during the game. JSU had power too. They could have played those last two power songs earlier in the battle. By the time they played them it was too late. I would give the edge to SU.
