It was an open training session 🤦 the swiss probably had staff there watching never mind the news. In the same way England probably had staff at the Swiss open training session. Honest to god where does the internet keep finding these people 🤦
Foden has said this morning that he feels sorry for Southgate because in training he tells us to press and be high up the pitch it's the players who are not doing it, leave Southgate alone, a manager that has got us to a semi final and final in the last 2 tournaments and we ain't finished yet in this one
It's actually an attacking change as weird as it sounds, it'll mean we attack with less players, but we will use 100% of the width of the pitch instead of just 70%.
There are lots of things about southgates choices at this tournament that make you scratch your head, but the one I cannot understand at all is why on earth did he bring Luke Shaw to the euros and not another fit left back.
He has Joe Gomez who played LB most of the season, could've won the league if Nunez and Diaz could take chances. Defense was perfectly fine. He brought him, plays saka lb.
@@ianpearson8976 he may be fit soon but he hasn't played football for half a season! Southgates gonna ease him back in by playing his first match in 5 months in a semi final of an international tournament. It's ridiculous!
Won’t be anything like that. It will be a change in formation and some personnel, but the overly cautious approach, overall lack of instructions and complete inability to make any meaningful adjustment during the game will all 100% remain.
It would be nice if oir tactical plans dont leak 48 hours before a game... Who knows if you keep ot quiet it night catch your opponent of guard... Ridiculous.
Exactly. I wonder if these pundits are simply dumb. All in a bid to criticise and have something to say they reveal something that should be kept secret. And if Southgate decides to change to something else due to the leak these same pundits will go crazy.
Only thing ridiculous here is your take. Imagine thinking this is top level secret info , when they have open training sessions which anyone in proximity can acess
how can such a mind numbingly stupid post get so many likes, its open training sessions for gods sake, the levels of stupidity on the internet astound me every day
He managed to do that the past 4 games But also the players are to blame. They're top players, they should simply do what they know best while on the field instead of holding on to Southgate's disaster plan.
@@stefanstefanescu3202 The sad truth is that they don't care enough about their country and the honour that representing it should be. That's why they change as soon as they swap their club kits for an England one.
I'm Spanish 🇪🇸 living in London but if we don't win this thing I'd love the 3 lions to win it, they've been close in recent tournaments but for whatever reason they never make it. Good luck lads!
It's kind of strange that people keep pushing this line when England's biggest problem has been trying to cram too many attacking star players into the team.
"if italy play a back 4 against us we will destroy them" said switzerlands manager before italy played a back 4 against them and he destroyed them. gareth is scared. and winging it. we are gonna need another huge slice of luck and to rely on sheer player quality alone again.
England's best hope is that being favourites will be too much for the Swiss, who perform at their best when they are underdogs. I really can't see Southgate changing much at all. His caution will overcome every other consideration, even the desperate need to win the match by being positive.
its just the cute little swiss, they where lucky italy pulled a bad day.. best to let the stars rest and focus on the semi finals against a proper team ;)
@@ethanmole1571 not a chance, their whole squad costs less then the english towelboy .. trust me, they got a bunch o taxidrivers and plummers in the squad and muri got he's tactical knowlege from walkin past a schoolyard during breaktime once . best to not take us .. aah them too seriously 🙄
@@Will-mc1gw they are mate. anyone who has watched englands 4 games and watched switzerlands 4 games knows full well that switzerland are a far better team than england. "if italy play a back 4 against us we will destroy them" said switzerlands manager before italy played a back 4 against them and he destroyed them. gareth is scared. they have a much better manager and we will need to get very very lucky again to beat them. england have now played really badly in 9 straight games. once again to win this game we need to rely on sheer player quality and luck. its pathetic and southgate is embarrasing us. the swiss are the favourites.
I watch every LFC game at least twice...Trent is massively overrated. It's like the 'Emperor's New Clothes' they way people talk about him. Hilarious stuff.
@@ph8077 your clueless his passing opens up the space and is only player in England who can pass and break lines he already created more chances than anyone else
Just a thought but couldn't Wharton play as lwb considering he's left footed, young and can come inside like the swizz lwb does. He also has defensive qualities. Just a thought if SAKA doesn't want to play there and luke Shaw is unfit. Tripper shouldn't play there imo
Go read your comment out loud. Does the winning goal mean he’s useless? It that’s useless, sure, rid of him. He’s not been in great form, but he scores goals - kind of the point of a football game
You've been in charge for 8 years, you at a major international tournament, do you - Know you best formation and line up - Still need time to figure it out? - Bring a fit left back to the competition - Play a 33yr old RB there instead?
3-5-2 is an absolute no brainer; Pickford Walker, Stones, Gomez. Trent, Mainoo, Rice, Bellingham, Saka. Kane, Foden. Tactics: two wing backs get forward, Foden and Saka linking up, Trent and Walker also overlapping and the other wing back dropping in to make a back four when the other wing back gets forward. Solid midfield with Mainoo, Rice and Bellingham making a triangle supporting Kane.
Bellingham and Foden again? They both play best occupying the left half-space, Cole Palmer is one of our only players that plays best in the right half-space. He is also good occupying the wide areas for Trent to move inside (if he plays RWB). To me, the obvious choice is Bellingham and Palmer in a 5-2-2-1 formation.
The right side has been Englands only strength with saka. You’re cooked mate, the left side needs to be changed so you want to mess the right? Grow up manlet
Foden plays in that left half space because he's currently LW. But I'd say he's better on the right. Gareth just seems to ignore that because of where he plays for city - and that's imo because he can, not because it's his best position. But as it stands you're not wrong.
@@nuudelz3711 Saka is been bang average he’s just gone under the radar because of how bad the left side has been. 0 Key Chances Created 0 Shots On Target 2 ‘Big Chances’ Missed 🔥🔥🔥🔥 he’s cooking.
your right absolutely nothing a average player at best in my opinion i cant understand why he does not play the best inform players from last season Anthony Gordan And Cole Palmer where on fire for their clubs but oh yeah not southgates mates so we will not win any tournamont
I'd rather see Foden on the bench and a prime Ivan Toney next to Kane than see Foden and Bellingham getting in each other's way in the number 10 spot. That's the bold decision that needs to be made imo. Foden can be premier league player of the season but Toney scores more goals for a worse team and Bellingham is probably an even better number 10. Plus Harry Kane needs someone to play off. I want to see a front 3 with Toney, Kane , and Palmer. Foden and Bellingham- choose one or the other and live with your decision.
Foden is jinxed. As soon as he's subbed, Eng either score or start playing (relatively) exciting football. I'd replace him with Gordon. Gordon comes on for 5 mins and there's action.... It's as if GSG is watching a different game, how can he not notice that ?
England aren't a quick team but I can see TAA on the right coming in with Jude going forward from 8. Foden, Palmer and Kane. Kane could even do his coming deep movements that don't work on a 4231. Sometimes you attack better with less attackers.
Blimey, some 3 🦁 fans are unbelievers. Cmon Roar on Big Balls Jude & his 3 🦁 pride. Do your prayers meditations cuz thats how Argentina fans ended 36 yrs of hurt. Its coming home, & that wonder goal by the young Brummie proves it. 27 seconds from a bad defeat, but he & Harry won it. It was the same for Argentina, who lost to Saudi, but Argy chose to pray & not bash the boss & then destiny chose Messi to turn it on. Leo undressed the ManC defender & made a lovely defence unlocking pass/assist like only he & Trent can..
I don't think a 3 at the back would work for us at all!! I'd just keep it a 4 and play Joe Gomez at left back. I don't think Swithland will play a low block so it will give Foden and Saka more chance to do damage. Not gonna lie though I don't see the harm of Palmer and Gordon starting, especially Gordon, pace scares defenders it always has done!!
I’d hope if the rumours of a back 3 is true . I’d want England to play with 2 strikers preferably Kane and Watkins with Jude in behind, Saka and Gordon on the wings and in the middle of the park a Rice and Mainoo partnership .
Sounds silly but imo Kane needs to do a Rooney and drop into a deeper role for good. He doesnt have the legs to pull a line apart and would do better with his passing ability and arriving into the box later with space. Either that or play two strikers is the only way to get Kane doing things in an England shirt
Knowing Southgate he will go with 3 CBs with an England team that should be blowing away teams with the attacking line up they've got. What a joke! Saka, Foden, Kane and Trippier need to go out of the team. Get Palmer, Gordon, Toney/Watkins and Trent in this team
Your teams has won absolutely nothing for 50 years. No, you cannot and should not be blowing teams away. France with their world cups don't speak they way English fans speak with an empty trophy cabinet. Italy, the 2006 world cup winners and current Euro holders were dumped out and their fans took it with grace, knowing that other teams have improved over the years. Even Spain got dumped out of the world cup by Morrocco. It appears this English arrogance comes with ignorance of the game. England are a good team on paper, but they would have to prove themselves. They have no pedigree or right whatsoever to feel superior to anybody.
@@deanwilson7031 The PL player of the year was supposed to carry England to the Euros title. Remember that? Or it's because he is playing out of position 😁😁😁😁😁. foden is sh-t in an England shirt. You ppl complain that you haven't won anything since 1966, but keep selecting players like foden 😁😁😁😁😁. Hilarious 😁😁😁😁😁.
If Southgate goes to a back three he should be sacked straight away, are record with a back three is terrible. Not one of those players in that squad play that system and he wants to change it in the quarter finals absolutely clueless.
I'm gonna cut Southgate some slack and say that: it must be difficult to manage some of the highest paid players, most of whom are playing in the wealthiest league that attracts the best players around the world, and are playing for the country that invented football. I don't have access to the changing room, but there has to be big egos in that team.
I called this after the second game. I think this is act 2 and we’re going to see the real England. Nearly backfired in the last game but if he pulls it off it will be a master stroke
Having three full backs eill be a complete disaster he needs to play 4.4.2 with kane and Toney upfront and two cam. Playing three at the back and well be hammered by half time.
Im not bothered if the Swiss know what tactics England are going to use. What is more important is that the England players know what tactics they are going to use, are familiar with them, and able to put them into practice in a match situation.
How is Guehi any different from Stones as "England's best player?" He's not been consistant at all, just because the commentator said one day he's been great, everyone has just copied him.
@@pompeyfitnessjames6298 by clearing almost everything, by being calm on the ball, by being in the right place at the right time, by making good tackles, by not giving the ball away, by doing everything we could hope and expect from a centerback like Guehi. he made a mistake against slovakia that cost us a goal but other than that he hasnt put a foot wrong. would you like to name 3 other england players that have barely put a foot wrong this tournement? pickford maybe. but thats it. Guehi has been our best player mainly because everyone else has been playing so badly and making mistakes. no hes never gonna be as good as JT or Rio but hes doing a bloody good job. hes even got the most important assist of the tournement for us.

I’m always fascinated how these reporters can use 6mins to report on a story that takes a minute:-) I suppose when you share it three times it helps;-)
Harry Kane never been your best player in all major tournaments, why plotting who to play behind him? Let him sit and grant opportunity to players with attitude like Tony or even the Aston Villa striker!
I do not know why everyone is complaining. They are doing well. The teams we played had a very decent set up. Its easy for teams to sit back and make it hard to score. Yes the team isn't balanced but we doing good. We need to encourage the boys not be very critical of them. It's a tough competition
@InAMinMaths I get it but alot of the big teams are struggling. Portugal went to penalties. We have to remember the football in the Premier league varies which makes it difficult to have an English style of football. Where most other leagues play the basic football and play it really well. I'm positive and think we will make the final
Switzerland will change absolutely nothing becuz they're facing a small irrelevant team.. Swiss will have absolute fun..Lucky lucky Swiss, they've got a free pass to the semifinals
Luke Shaw is a professional. He's trained all his life for these moments. This like saying Anthony joshua has not had a fight in 5 months. These are elite athletes. Luke Shaw is rested and if he can't jump in to his preferred position and do his job then go serve fish and chips at local chippy.
Why change now when sideways and backwards passes, no press/no plan, and then cross your fingers and hope something good happens has been working so well.
