Orthodox fighters often struggle in open stance fights against Southpaws in Muay Thai, Boxing and Kickboxing. Southpaws generally have an advantage due to the selection of training partners available (Southpaws have plenty of Orthodox sparring partners, the opposite isn’t always the case though), but by studying Southpaws tactics ANYONE can become a better fighter in an open stance situation. Orthodox and Southpaws tactics mirror each other, so check out this video featuring a very experienced and talented Muay Thai Professional to learn some stuff and improve your own game!

As a southpaw, thanks a lot. Often teachers just tell you to mirror everything and it doesn't work

@@skyhookschool I'd say if you could get into combos that work in open stance beyond the jab and left kick that'd be great :D

@habian1000 ⁠ahhh I gotchu. I’ve got a particular combo in mind that is my favorite combo ever! I use it on southpaws but of course they could do it right back to Orthos. I’ll make a video on it soon 💪

Right handed southpaw here 🙋🏻‍♂️ Thanks for the informative video. I was having trouble today checking lead kicks… come to find out I was not outside of my partners lead foot. Would definitely be mindful of that next sparring day!
